"Hmm..." Hierakos strokes his goatee in thought. "Well, at least there won't be any chance for collateral damage, then. The root cellar is a possibility if we need to make non-frontal assault, but..."

His golden eyes crack open, and Saqr glows a bit. "What do you think? Can we take whatever they throw at us?"

Gabrielle gave him a wide grin, showing her sharp teeth.

"If you watch my back and I watch yours, I'm pretty sure we can tear a few throats out between us."

Hierakos returns the grin. "Sounds good. Do try to leave some of them alive, though; the Guard will want to question them. If possible; cultists are quick to suicide, after all."

"I'll try restrain my inner passion for murder, just for you," Gabrielle said cheerily. "What's the policy on taking fingers, by the way? Not allowed for prisoners, or is it a kinda free-for-all?"

Hierakos raises an eyebrow, color draining from his face. "I... don't think there's anything that prohibits that in... such situations. Can I ask why, though?"

"Well, how else will the people who hired me know I did my job properly?" she said, turning to look at him "It's fingers or heads, and one's less messy. Slipping in blood is hilarious at first, but it gets old real fast."

She smiled.

"I'm kidding. Well. About the heads and blood, anyway."

"Oh, gotcha." While Hierakos chuckles, he still looks queasy at the image. "You should be able to collect the bounties on any we take prisoner just by having them with us, so no need to collect their fingers. Anyone that's killed is free game, though."

He looks away. "...And if my superiors ask, I had nothing to do with any bounty taking, and was just fortunate enough for a bounty hunter to be there for the assist."

"Sounds good to me. I don't want to deal with your superiors any more than you do," Gabrielle said, turning around in the seat to look out the window. They had finally reached the boundary of the Fifth Circle and she could see the Fourth Circle spread out past the floating edge, the bright blue waters that shone in the light and hurt her eyes with the glare of them.

"You should grab the bar, we're about to go over the edge," she said, sitting back down with a squint and doing so herself.

The problem with catching a tram from the Fifth most of the time was that the whole damn place floated. Miracle of magic or science or whatever the fuck it was, but it meant that the tram would have to inch up the incline slooooowly when trying to get there and when leaving, it'd plummet down into the Third Circle like it was trying to kill everyone or at least cause a little whiplash in the less sturdy members of society. It was probably a good thing that the tram couldn't come down in the Fourth Circle since everything there floated too (just on boring ass water though, not fancy) and the weight of the tram would slam right through the floor and sink, because if the drop to two Circles over was that bad, she couldn't begin to imagine how bad one Circle over would be. At least in the Sixth Circle, the station that met it was at the top of a freaking mountain, no crazy drop required.

Thank fuck the Third Circle was where they wanted to be anyway, but it wasn't a good idea to not have a firm grip when going over.

Hierakos first cradles his bird into his lap, before reaching out to take hold of the bar himself. "Right. Always love this part..."

The tram begins its descent with a lurch. Even as forces press against Hierakos, he turns to take a look out below. The sparkling waters of Eridanos stretch far in all directions, pockmarked by boats and small clusters of buildings, floating on the artificial lake. No industry sullies the image; as the last expanse of habitable water left, every effort is made to ensure it remains pure. "Always a nice view, at least."

"Totally makes up f-" Gabrielle broke with off into a shriek - that she quickly muffled by clapping her other hand over her mouth - as the tram's descent went from a slight incline to rocketing down the tracks at a ludicrous pace.

After about thirty seconds it evened out again. Gabrielle took her hand away from her mouth, letting out a small squeak. She eyed Hierakos, her cheeks going dark with embarassment.

"...you heard nothing," she said firmly, trying to hold onto whatever little dignity she had left.
