"...Don't bullshit me. There's no goddamn way you can hear my heartbeat from there, let alone across a fucking city block." Still, Cassidy hesitates. This woman knows far too much, is able to track her no matter where she goes it seems, and, of course, healed a torn throat in moments. Meanwhile, as much as Cassidy intends to stop time again and plunge her knife into Relia's heart, she doesn't know if she'll even be able to move again afterwards, at least not for a while. And if the City Guard wandered by to find her passed out red-handed next to a murdered woman...

She sighs and curses. "...Okay, fine. I'll stop if you tell me one thing. What exactly is your deal?"

And strike another victory for diplomacy

"There's...quite a bit you could be asking about with that question, child." Relia replied honestly. "The term 'Where to begin?' seems appropriate." She laughed a short rich chuckle, then began to speak once more, tone calm and measured, but not unpleasant.

"Let's get down to brass tacks. If I answer your questions, you give me my wife's ring back. Agreed?"

She extended an arm past the turn, her palm facing upwards, clearly expecting something to be placed into it.

"On the plus side, it will give you time to make your questions more specific."

Cassidy snarls, fist clenching. But she knows nothing will work against this woman already. "Okay, fine. What the hell are you? How are you able to track a goddamn heartbeat across a city block? And what was that shit with your throat fixing itself? You some kind of monster or something?"

Relia laughed a rich laugh as Cassidy fired out her questions one by one. She kept her hand outstretched though, waiting for that ring to be dropped into it. Still, no harm in letting the thief know exactly what she would be dealing with if she decided to pull another fast one.

"How amusing, I can answer all four of those questions with the same answer."

She turned round the corner, hand still outstretched and faced Cassidy directly. She was confident, utterly relaxed...and smiling. Revealing her fang like canines.

"I'm a vampire, my dear."

Cassidy blinks. She wants to call bullshit on the claim, but those canines do look awfully pointy. And finally, she does the only thing she can at this point: she laughs her ass off at her luck. "Of goddamn course I run into something like that. Fucking Levy could've mentioned shit like this lived in Reliquia."

She extends her hand and drops the ring into Relia's palm.

Relia stayed poised for a moment, ready to do something should the thief try anything. Like faint. That would be a bad thing. Especially in an alleyway like this.

However, the laughter was something new. The vampire responded with a smile, looking at her wife's wedding band and putting it on her finger, alongside her other two.

"Dear, all manner of life and unlife lives in Reliquia. I'm surprised you haven't run into more of the more outlandish of it's citizens." Relia replied, giving a soft chuckle herself. "What is your name, child? You did tear a hole in my throat, normally, you can at least give me your name....though where are my manners? You can call me Relia. And you caught me at a good time...if there's ever a good time to get mugged. I'd just fed so I wasn't feeling particularly cranky."

She paused for a moment, regarding the girl up and down and then giving another sigh.

"You're lucky you're blonde."

"Yeah, I'm pretty fucking surprised too, I spend way too much time in the underground. Although maybe those guys the other day were zombies or something, sure looked dead enough..." Cassidy sighs and shakes her head. "Cassidy Disma. I'm a... treasure hunter, so to speak. And my luck's been shit lately, two marks in two days that both got their stuff back. Goddammit..."

"Treasure Hunter? Quite the insistent terminology there. Next time, call yourself what you are, child. A thief. It gives you that air of confidence that simple bravado can't accomplish. Trust me, I've been in your position many a time." Relia advised, admiring her hand once again, making sure for yet another time that the ring was most definitely back.

"As for your attempt...not half bad. Self taught?" she asked, curious about this young thief. "Your mistakes were...two fold, I believe. First, you forgot to make sure that the prey you had trapped was the same as to what you hoped to snare. I turned out to be far beyond what you were capable of at the time which a few more moments of reconnaissance may have saved you some trouble. As for the second...you sold me short. You saw me heal and whilst you were correct in immediately retreating...revisiting an old haunt instead of randomising your movements made it easy to pin you down."

There was another pause...then Relia's crimson orbs met Cassidy's own eyes, smirking slightly with a hint of mirth.

"Well, disregarding my ability to track heartbeats. But there was no way to accommodate for that. I would grade you...a solid C+. B- at best. Not bad at all, but still needing a little refinement."

Relia brushed her throat again, flaking off a few specks of dried blood.

"And I was your second? Tell me, what happened with your first? Putting two and two together, I assume that's where you found that handy time dilation gem."

"Nah, really, Most of my jobs are searching ruins and shit for stuff. Just... shit, if I see something worth grabbing, why the hell not?" As Relia lectures her on her failed attempt, though, Cassidy just tunes her out, nodding when it feels appropriate to give the illusion that she's listening. "Yeah, sure, got it..."

But as Relia mentions the gem, Cassidy snaps back to attention. "Right, yeah. Saw some chick with a great little gem on her--amethyst, I think? So I swiped it, and she chased me, and I ran into Levy. Uh, Dr. Levy, I mean. If you've heard of him. And basically the bastard made me give him the amethyst so he could study it. But he gave me this time stopping gem instead, so I guess it worked out. Still. Asshole. I stole that thing fair."

That was a name that prompted a reaction. Relia's smirk dipped into a frown and the mirth left her eyes very quickly. Interesting.

"Dr Levy?... I see. Tell me, why did this man want that first gem you stole so badly? Why would he give up something that essentially gives you control of time for a random amethyst....unless..."

She looked away slightly, brow furrowed in thought before looking back to Cassidy.

"...I have a proposition for you."
