"I mean, I guess it's rare and stuff..." Cassidy shrugs. She didn't really give a damn about the details; she got a crystal out of it, that was enough. She blinks at the mention of a proposition. "Yeah? About what?"

She bites down asking what she would get out of it. Not a good person to do that with.

Straight to the point. Good. Relia liked that.

"I need someone with your particular....talents, shall we say. I myself can't get involved generally due to my need for anonymity right now. So I need someone who can do a bit of dirty work for me. Not to mention, information on what you know about certain things. In return, I can improve your technique in both stealth and knives..."

Then, the vampire looked her up and down, taking note of her generally ragged appearance. Her expression softened slightly as she understood.

"....and I can give you a bed in the spare room above my shop. An actual bed, not just a ratty mattress."

Cassidy purses her lips, thinking. "...And how safe is your place? It's remote and all, but shit, I'm a criminal. City Guard will probably be on my ass every once in a while."

But still. A bed! An actual goddamn bed! She has safe houses about, of course, but any night she manages to find a real mattress is just heavenly.

"Did you see any of the City Guard around my shop before you came to mug me? It's a little out of the way, but I pay my taxes and I have some powerful friends. I generally am left alone." Relia assured the girl, folding her arms and leaning against the wall of the alley as they discussed their terms.

"Still, it may be better to be safe than sorry. So if anybody asks, we will give them a half truth. You're working for me and I keep you off the street. It may require you to come and help me with the day to day business of the shop sometimes, but I'm sure a good thi... treasure hunter would have no problems stacking shelves every couple of days, no?"

Here, Relia gave a smirk.

"As payment for my vocal chords and jugular."

Cassidy scowls and slumps forward. "...Bleh. Pain in the ass, but sure. You've got no goddamn idea how great a bed sounds nowadays."

"So yeah, I'll take the job." A brief pause. "What is the job, anyways?"

"We can discuss that when we get you back. For now, tell me...this Dr Levy. Can you describe him to me, Miss Disma? It seems a little...worrying that a man would give up a gem as precious as the one you have to swap for another."

The vampire frowned again, thoughts still processing in her mind. The name was startlingly similar but she couldn't jump to baseless accusations. She had been down that road before nearly 250 years ago and the fallout had taken a while to die down back in those days.

"Can you describe your meeting with him to me? Or would you prefer we return to my shop for some added privacy?"

Cassidy shrugs. "Sure, sounds good to me. The less I'm out in the open, the better."

-----------------------------------

Now that she wasn't breaking and entering, Cassidy could truly have a look around the herbal remedy shop that Relia owned. Despite the less than savoury street outside, the interior seemed very well off, yet quaint and antiquated at the same time. Vanished wood shelving dominated the central part of the shop, with various natural cures and ingredients, labelled absolutely correctly and at a fair price, stacked orderly down the centre. There were supplements, calming balms, even the odd potion or two, though these were heavily sealed and seemed to be just there to advertise that Relia could create them.

"Welcome to Aether Remedies." the vampire announced simply, placing her key in her pocket and wandering over to the now bloodstained armchair that she had sat in when Cassidy had made her first entrance. Looking it up and down, she tutted. "And I liked this chair a lot."

Regardless, she started to drag it over to where a fire burned in a stone chimney , a small pot bubbling above it. Sticking it next to the wood pile, Relia effortlessly lifted it and, without blinking, tore both the arms off, followed by each of the legs. The wooden limbs were then thrown into the blaze to keep the fire going.

"Feel free to have a look around. Bedrooms are on the second floor, Miss Disma."

"Um. Sorry?" Not in the least, actually, but it sounded good, right? Cassidy doesn't actually walk around, but rather remains rooted near the door while she glances about. Lots of stuff she doesn't know the first thing about. Oh well. "So, yeah, Levy. Kinda surprised you haven't heard of him, guy's supposedly been behind some of the more significant technology and medicine advances lately. It's why I decided to hit up his place; guy like that's gotta have some good shit, you know?"

A shiver runs down her spine, and she looks away. "...I still don't really know exactly what happened, though. He showed up when I was looking around, somehow kicked my ass completely, and then... basically gave me a job."

Cautious, hmm? Too bad she couldn't have shown such restraint with their first meeting here. Though the wording of this Dr Levy was definitely shown to have an affect on Relia. She paused in her work and turned to face Cassidy head on.

"Advances?" she asked, arching an eyebrow. "Of what kind? I was aware of more Pre-Deicide technology resurfacing but to think there was someone who was replicating it."

More evidence of something not being quite right with this Dr Levy.

"So this makes you 0-2 in recent heists. Along with you in two peoples' pocket." the vampire summarised, folding her arms again. "What was the job?"
