Advice on uping skills

Reached 800 skill today and i would like to focus on mid-range to long-range and use both shell-firing and beam weapons.
My build:
Ambac = 130 (self explanatory)
MS skill = 40 (self explanatory)
Engagement = 130 (for the accuracy increase which works regardless of what weapon i use and what range im attacking from)
Tactics = 130 (for the damage increase which works regardless of what weapon i use)
Defense = 110 (not enuf skill points to max)
Emergency repair = 130 (self explanatory)
Weapon Manipulation = 130 (self explanatory)

Thats all to my build and i wish someone can advice me on whether this is a good build and will it actually work in war/PVP.

I would drop defense to 40 or to 0 if you're using a high spirit build, and you might want to take shell or beam (or both) as well as one of the other engagement skills. You can also usually get away with less weapon manipulation and Emergency repair.

Thnx for the advice its very helpful. But what would be the recommended points to allocate into Emergency repair ? will 50 be good enuf ? im aiming to succeed more when using LVL 3 repair kits. for my character stats i decided to allocate 225 in strength and Luck and 250 to Spirit. But what do high spirit has got to do with defense ?

http://ucgoserver.com/skills/ Explains what each skill does, Spirit raises accuracy, critical chance, and block chance. Typically even with 0 spirit 40 defense is enough to block most of the time. Emergency Repair is tricky, I'd say probably 75-80 at least. The rest is up to you, you can try a build and if that doesn't work tweak it some.

A question on MS Skill. On the skill page the description of the Ms Skill says: Determines what MS you can use. Having insufficient skill will give a penalty to your accuracy and dodge. Having more skill than required will give a bonus to your accuracy and dodge. So my question is will a Magnetic coating RX-78-2 (30.0 MS skill) be equal or get very close to a NT-1 Alex when i pilot it with 40.0 Ms Skill

No, the bonus isn't that big unless you go quite a bit over the requirement. There's no way to know the exact amount but it is better to have higher skill.

30 would be ok for mid to long range, as long you're not into sniper build.

defense skill investment was not necessary unless you're going for melee.

hybrid build was not really that good unless you get to know about the best skill distribution, provided your team have r&d about skill. if not, pick either shell or beam.

ms skill either you going totally high for best result or get into the threshold of able to pilot all ms skill.

I accidentally up some skills in the mining skill and refining skill on my combat char. So is there a way to get it out of the way ?

The only time you ever might want Defense is on a 700 str CQB character where he has no spirit. You do use your shield with 0 spirit and 0 defense and I find using your shield too much simply gets in the way as a beamer.

If you want to use shell and beam mid-long range than I would recommend a similar build to this:
0 strength, 500 spirit, 200 luck (Switch to 400 spirit and 300 luck for extra dodge.) Note: You really don't need 130 AMBAC if you're going to be ranged, however here's a good build if you do want it still.

AMBAC: 100 (This will be good for dodge, if you insist on 130 then take away Tactics and/or WM)
Beam: 130 (Beam always beats Shell, so you should be most accurate using beam weapons)
CQB: 0
Defense: 0
ER: 80 (I recommend using lvl2)
ENG: 130 (I believe you only need 121 but to keep it simple do 130)
Fighter: 0
H2H: 0
MA: 0
MS: 40 (You could do 130 MS for bonus dodge/accuracy, but that requires you to drop other skills)
NE: 0 (You really don't need this)
RE: 0 (You really don't need this)
Shell: 0 (You can still use shell, your spirit and ENG will be enough to make it useful)
Shooting: 130 (A must for damage output)
Sniping: 0
Tactics: 90 (Nice to have 130 but 90 will do)
Tension: 0
WM: 100 (Nice to have 130 but the difference between 100 and 130 is small. I would NOT recommend less than 100)

This is a simple build to get you started. I guarantee you this build will work in PvP. I have loads of experience in PvP and builds so I do know what I'm talking about.
