Well we've finally reached the finale but not without a few more twists and turns as both conference champions find themselves done for the season. Eastern Conference #1 New York Islanders vs #2 Montreal Canadians Final Score: Montreal 111 New York 98 Make it two in a row north of the border! The Canadians are heading back to the Cup finals after holding off the top seeded Islanders. Team MVP Tuukka Rask found his game at the right time picking up two wins. Gabriel Landeskog led the offensive outburst with 2 goals and 4 assists. The 111 points are Montreal's high water mark of the year. New York was a great story all season after going winless in October the whole way to the #1 seed in the East. In the end the Islanders nagging injuries caught up with them. The future is bright as the team moves to Brooklyn with young star Filip Forsberg continuing to grow. Forsberg was the offensive dynamo for New York scoring two goals and two assists. Three Stars 3. Filip Forsberg - New York 8.51 2. Gabriel Landeskog - Montreal 11.16 1. Tuukka Rask - Montreal 11.5 Western Conference Final Score: Minnesota 116 Detroit 106 I knew this one would be high scoring but this almost exceeded expectations. The Wild trailed most of the week but pulled away over the weekend. Minnesota's incredible depth was on display again with six players scoring 6 or more fantasy points. Jiri Hudler led the way with 2 goals and 3 assists. Minnesota's underrated goatending came through again with Eddie Lack and Anton Khudobin earning valuable points. The Red Wings tremendous season comes to an end but not because of Patrick Marleau and Chris Kreider who each netted two goals. With all the young talent Detroit has they will be one of the teams to beat for years to come. Three Stars 3. Tyler Myers - Detroit 7.92 2. Jiri Hudler - Minnesota 8.84 1. Patrick Marleau - Detroit 8.98 Here are this week's award winners. Goalie: Tuukka Rask - Montreal 2W 11.5 Fantasy Points Forward: Gabriel Landeskog - Montreal 2G 4A 11.17 Fantasy Points Defense: Brent Burns - New York 4A 10.26 Fantasy Points Rookie: Filip Forsberg 2G 2A 8.52 Fantasy Points Team: Minnesota 116 Fantasy Points |
