The NHL trade deadline is almost upon us!

So far, not a lot of big trades, but some interesting ones.

Thoughts on Phaneuf deal?

How about the Ladd deal?

Any predictions?

Phaneuf trade - good for Ottawa next two years then good for Leafs after that due to the cap, Toronto really did not get much back for him other then one prospect

Ladd - WIN got a great deal back with a first and Dano, they will have a dangerous forwards corps in a few years. Ladd had to be dealt if they want to rebuild be is not a guy to build around, I personally would have traded big Buff also. I mean WIN prob would have prefered a good D prospect but cannot go wrong with Dano

Ye I have to agree with your analysis. Ladd was going to be UFA and Jets werent going to resign him...so to get Dano and 1st is amazing return.

Weise, Fleischmann for Danault, 2nd - Although for this season Chicago wins, I think Montreal wins this deal long term. Flash is past his prime and I think Weise just had a few hot streaks but is not much more than a decent bottom 6 guy. I also think Danault has some untapped upside and could become a decent 2nd line Center.

Chicago looks very deep now however:
Ladd - Toews - Hossa
Panarin - Anisimov - Kane
Shaw - Teravainen - Flash
Panik - Desjardins - Weise

Thats a sick forward lineup! 3 scoring lines and a good 4th line!
