Several years ago I worked for an agency in Hollywood representing actors for both movies and primetime television. We had a request submitted to rep Steve Burton, who, at the time, was on a soap opera (I can't remember which one) and was looking to make a transition to movies. In an effort to determine if he had "star quality," I was sent to a daytime fan event where he was one of the headline "heart-throbs," along with other soap actors. Since we had never met, I blended in with the rest of the fans and had to report back on his appeal to fans, if his autograph signings were well-attended,etc. When I showed up for the autograph signing, Steve's douchebag handler was walking the line we were waiting in with Monavie literature and a sheet of paper with times that day that Steve would be speaking about Monavie and its benefits. If you volunteered to attend the Monavie session, the handler would walk you to the front of the line to get your autograph. If not, then you would stay-put and wait in an increasingly growing line. Given the reason I was there--and not about to pass up this opportunity--I volunteered. After getting his autograph (he wore a shitload of makeup), I was taken to a hotel meeting room, where I then had to pay ten buck to participate. Steve came in about an hour later and gave some long-ass diatribe about how Monavie gives him energy, motivates him, and cures everything from cancer to the common cold. He kept saying how "blessed" his life had become since becoming a part of Monavie and encouraged the audience to follow the similar path to happiness. He reviewed the "growth" path and what needed to be done to become a "Black Diamond" like he was. That same douchebag handler was passing out dixie cups of Monavie juices with acai, pomegranate, and every other tropical mixture you can think of. After the seminar, we were not allowed to leave until we provided our contact information for a follow-up call from a "Monavie Black Diamond team member in your area." I provided fake contact information and then headed to the airport. On the plane, I opened my laptop, sent a note to my boss with the strong recommendation that his request for representation be denied. On Monday, it was.

I'm betting this occurred sometime in early 2009. Late 2008 QTC playing fake insider spread the story that Burton had walked out of his job and moderators had to be brought in because Liason was dropped. It was quite a story. About six months later, Steve appeared at a fan event, told the fans he had tried hard. For pilot season, not gotten a nibble and made it pretty clear he blamed Internet rumors for his failure. While rumors of an actor being disagreeable to the extent of walking off set could hurt his career,it's also possible his own stupid behavior, as described above didn't help either. Would the person sharing this be kind enough to return to DL and ask if this occurred in spring,2009? Inquiring minds want to know.
So glad that fool is another shows problem now.
