Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
They still get fired, in the sense that they get told they aren't needed.
Anyone that doesn't have a contract cannot be 'fired.'
Whatever, he's not coming back. airquotes How about that?

Ryan Carnes got fired?
RC is a recurring actor. They don't "get fired."
They never had a contract to begin with.
TIIC just stop calling them when they're done.
This is another example of less than savvy fans around now.
But but but but.... Recurring means recur, like from one day the next so that means it must be a contract!!!

How do you know? If he isn't working, and RC wants his character, he could be back 6 months from now.

That's the whole point of recurring characters.

I don't think recurring actors "get told" anything either. TpTb just stop scheduling days for them to work. They probably figure it out on their own.

Just an FYI, BM has already taped Jason flashbacks with a number of people. They're recreating old SBu scenes with him in the role so I would guess that means Jason's new face won't be an issue. Hope to be back if and/or when I hear something else.

No.

Think of them as seasonal workers. If the boss needs them for a particular season, they will get a call to work. That's the point of not having a full time contract on this show. You never know when you might get work.
As well, the show might contact you when you are not available.

There's also different types of recurring status.

People need to educate themselves if they want to discuss these topics.
