Contracts are never really to the actors advantage. You can be fired easily but it's hard to quit. |

That isn't the story because there is no face change. |

I doubt they have miller longer than a year. He only went to GH because he couldn't find work. He'll try again during Pilot Season and if he gets a role he is gone after his year is done. |

He might have only signed for a year, doesn't mean he wouldn't stay longer., re-sign. A short contract is better for the actor. |

My point is if he was playing negotiation hardball he'd try for one year if he could, rather than multi year. |

Exactly. Which is most likely why negotiations took so long. FV would want to keep Billy chained to GH for 2 or 4 years. Billy wouldn't want to be stuck on a soap because he wants to get into primetime again. |

Do you really think The network or FV would take a chance like that? They gave him outs to do other projects. That includes movies or prime time. They gave him a liver role on GH. Rarely do actors sign one year contracts. Even more rare when you are new to that show. |

Yes. Because Miller isn't some young nobody. Negotiations took forever because Miller would want the most advantageous contract. He has a year contract, with options to do projects, most likely pilot season in February 2015. He has said it over and over that he wants out. Y&R offered even more money to keep him but they wouldn't give him a short term contact either. GH must have given him good money and the contract he wanted in the end. |

That's the conventional wisdom but one year contracts have happened under these circumstances before. I wouldn't rule it out. |

Kelly had a one year contract after DWTS too. So did SBu when he returned to GH. When they couldn't find work elsewhere, they re-signed with GH. |
