Okay guys. It's 1989 and Michael Grade has gone and your now in charge of Doctor Who and you have the opportunity to takeover exactly where Survival finished off. What would you do if you were in charge in 1989 and knew the show was in a bad place how would you make it better (try think back to the 80's) for those of you (like me) who weren't around then still try and join and come up with idea's for the show. for me i'd give McCoy one more season along with Ace and then hire "The 8th Doctor" (Not McGann) and i'd possibly follow up the Cartmel Masterplan but not in the exact same way as the rumoured intentions. So now its your turn... Edited by TheDoctor, Sep 17 2012, 03:19 PM.

McCot two more seasons. Ace one more season. I'd have floated away from the Cartmel Masterplan a little. I think reintroducing the mystery was a good idea. Resolving it with a weak reveal a terrible one. Doc 7 would have been increasingly ruthless to the point where Ace left him rather than tolerate it - he'd have done something that made her leave. Not sure beyond that. |

i think i read somewhere that Ace was to leave in the 27th season at some point anyways. we would have from what i read learned more about Ace. and as for what i'd do i dunno. i've only seen 'Ghost light' for the last season actually. and it's a decent serial not terrible but not great. but decent. i dunno what i'd do if i was in charge. get better writers for one. try and raise the budget some for another. i dunno what direction i'd take the show though. you guys and gals prolly know the show a LOT better than i do. he he |

DWM did a article years back about what would happen next, Ace became a Timelord, the 7th Doctor regenerated because of a broken mind rather than a broken body and there was talk of Richard Griffiths as the 8th Doctor. I liked those ideas and the stories sounded fun. |

Hmm i don't know how Ace would become a timelord though? i thought and somebody could prove me wrong. That children or Young Gallifreyans (who are chosen to be time lords) are sent to the T.L academy and then have to look into the temporal schism (S.O.T.D). The ability to regenerate is either natural to just time lords or could be all gallifreyans but where does Ace fit in? She could learn the knowledge but she can't regenerate... River Song only could as she was concieved in the TARDIS and the pregnancy was vulnerable to the energy of the time vortex and the silence assisted with her changes... |

Alot of the stuff you talk about is NuWho, the Five Doctors strongly suggests that the Limit on regeneration could be by passed so who is to say with a little genetic jiggery pokery Ace couldn't have been given Timelord abilities. |

i agree, this is about the original show, with different writers and someone else at the helm producing the show. leave out anything about the current version. that may have been part of that article i was talking about. i haven't seen much of Ace's time on the show cept for "Ghost light' but on the audio plays i just love her. i could really see it,but the audio plays are another that that's completly different as well.that in short isn't cannon. though there's a LOT Of them that do continue from the classic show. either way both idea's sound fun and would i think would have been great to see. |
