THE WORLD LOGIN USERNAME: Azureskies PASSWORD: ********************** LOGGING IN... CHARACTER CREATION CHARACTER NAME: Zerker RACE: Custom CLASS: Lord Partizan CUSTOM RACE CREATION RACE NAME: Cloud Walker ... ... ... ... "Will this... really help? I've never really played any video games before..." Aven murmured to himself, clicking and dragging sliders, typing in information, perfecting the very appearance of his character to his heart's content. It was all a new experience to him, to be perfectly honest. An experience he never really thought he would actually, well, experience. But it seemed like something new. What most surprised him was his psychiatrist... instead of talking to him, going "and how does that make you feel?" all the time, he actually seemed very concerned for his social health. In fact, Aven could have swore that... that... his eyes looked a little like his own, a lingering loneliness. ARE THESE SETTINGS OKAY? ZERKER CLOUD WALKER LORD PARTIZAN "Yes." Aven murmured, selecting the 'OKAY' button. WELCOME TO THE WORLD. In a bright flash from his terminal, a swirling storm of lights engulfed the character creation screen, forming about his character, Zerker, pixel by pixel, polygon by polygon, until it's painstaking construction was complete, and then, the screen shut off to a blackness, leaving behind a white line, which then expanded to a rather long loading bar with a percent readout at the bottom of the screen. 94% 97% 99% 98% 100% And then, Aven- no, Zerker, was in. He was not Aven in this world. In this world, where only the very souls of players blaze, he would be known as Zerker. Zerker stood in a rather darkened large room, it's only light being a very large window cut out in the very back behind him, shining in the orange glistening rays of the eternal setting sun. At two sides of the circular structured room were two stands, behind them being rather stout looking humanoid creatures, far shorter than the players that litter the area. Their skin completely black, with only their eyes making any other colorful presence. Zerker turned behind him, to take in the entire room, to see a large blue floating orb, being circled without any sign of stopping by large, golden rings. immediately, the word 'Chaos Gate' appeared on the top left of his screen. Deciding not to pay any heed to it right now, he walked to the large double doors that reached the very ceiling of the large room, and pushed them open. The sight that laid before him was breathtaking. Dyed in a fiery orange, the very sight of the town of Mac Anu was burned into his eyes. Buildings gathered in a city-like structure, casting black shadows upon one another as the very sun that gives the orange hue makes the contrast between shadow and light an astonishing view for anyone to look at from any angle. And beyond the town, laid the sea. The sun floating just above the large waters, the very sea looked like it was set ablaze from the far horizon, flickering lights and reflections spew from the sight as the waves crash and move. It felt alive. It made Zerker feel alive. To see such beauty in just an instant, just from the first few minutes of playing the game made him almost want to stay forever. He shook away this likeness, and pressed forward onto the long, long bridge to the main square. The main square itself was bustling with activity, players talking, trading, horseplay and conversations abound. It was like the real world, only the very personalities of all these people were far more apparent. His psychiatrist was right: The World did boast some impressive social interaction features, but he didn't realize it was THIS advanced. It was, as if, the expressions of all these players were like their players in real life. And then the thought dawned on him. The game was taking their in real life expressions and actually projecting them ingame. It took him but a moment to realize that he himself was probably looking like he was in utter awe, his eyes-er, eye-widened in such surprise. "I should probably find my psychiatrist... but he said he probably wouldn't be on until later." Zerker whispered to himself, navigating the menus to bring up his friends list. And sure enough, it listed his Psychiatrist, "H4LL0\/\/3D" as offline. Zerker managed to get a terminal and a years-worth subscription to The World from his psychiatrist, and got in via a referral program. Which was probably why his psychiatrist was on his friends list. It was probably up to him to mess around in the meantime. But how? Edited by Azure, Feb 19 2012, 09:52 PM.

"Heeeeh..."Said a female voice in a sort of awe. "This place really looks cool. It's no wonder people play this game so often." Backing up, Yuki bumped into Zerker. She paused and turned. "Oh! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to bump into you!" She stepped back to give Zerker some space and tried to think up a kind of conversation. But this felt...Awkward? "Um... Hello. My name's Yuki. What's yours?" Given a good look at this character, she wore a navy blue and silver outfit, two blades along with her. She looked human, minus the ears and tail of a cat. The girl's eyes were kinda odd too. The were ocean blue in the light, but a glowing, icy shade of blue in the dark. Standing half into the shadow of a building proved it. "Uhm.. uh..." Zerker stood there, making sense of what he was thinking and wanted to say. The act of her bumping into him kind of set off a few alarms within his mind to run away, to leave this person alone. Even in this game, his heart seemed to whisper to him. 'Go away. Don't bother this person. They want nothing with you.' But the white skinned and haired Zerker stayed. It wasn't like in real life. What he did here would have no impact on what people thought of him back in real life, his town that seemed to have small-town-syndrome running amok. Besides, the whole reason for him playing this game in the first place was to meet people, right? To talk to them? Wasn't that the goal? Zerker's blazing orange eye, one that could be compared to the sun's fiery glaze, turned towards this Yuki, determining not to run away this time. "I'm.. Zerker." And his mind went blank. Nothing else came to his mind at all. Social interaction was most definitely not his forte. And then, more awkward silence. |

"Oh? Zerker... Sounds better than 'swiftyuki' don't you think?"She asked, her character sticking her tongue out, with a grin. "Where are you from?"She asked, gaining curiosity of Zerker. |

"..." Silence overtook the Lord Partizan, not really responding to anything this 'yuki' person was asking him until the very end. Was Zerker a better sounding name than Swiftyuki? It was, in the end, a question of opinion, an opinion that Zerker preferred to keep to himself, lest that this person right in front of him shunned him for making it known. Though, the question upon his location caught his attention more than anything. No matter what he said, it was just a location, right? Just a place in the world. It wasn't like this person was going to track him down and... well, you know. "I'm... from the USA." He replied, unsure of how to word it; most people just call it 'America' or 'United States.' Some others 'North America,' and the like. But for the purpose of not being discriminant towards Canadians since, hey, they lived on the North America continent too, he just gave the name of the actual country. And through even this, Zerker found ways to be cautious as to what he said. ".. You?" |

"Nippon-- I mean, Japan. Amazing how the Internet can lead to people meeting other people from another part of the world. Right?"She asked. |

"I... I guess so, yeah." The winged one stumbled through his speech once more. In the back of his mind, though, it wasn't that amazing, at least to him. The technology to do this had been around for decades upon decades, by now such communication spanning millions of miles across the world would be old-hat to the human race by now. But what was amazing was where she came from. Japan? That was almost on the other side of the world! Wouldn't it be horribly nighttime there by now? How was she speaking English? Did she actually learn english enough to speak it fluently? Did the game itself actually translate everything she was saying? Such miracles of technology was being performed in more ways than one. Maybe it was amazing how an online game like this could allow people from across the world to meet and talk to one another like they lived right next door. "Uhm.. can I help you with something, or...?" Zerker finally questioned, hoping that whatever this player in front of him wanted could be taken care of in one fell swoop. |

"I'm kinda new here, and I'm guessing you are too... Hmm..." The character paced in a small circle, practically twirling around,"How about we form an alliance and level up together? As the saying goes, there's a strength in numbers." The character gave a smile. |

"An.. alliance?" Zerker mused, thinking it over. Did she mean a party? His psychiatrist told him about those, where groups of players would band together and take down enemies and level up. Normally, such a thing sounded like win-win, but... 'Band together.' He had hoped to not need to go into some interaction with other people this soon, but yet, wasn't the whole reason he came onto this game was to do just that? His psychiatrist DID pay for a years worth of service for him to be online in this game, he might as well not waste it for the purpose he came on it for. "Sure, I guess." Zerker's solemn expression of shyness remained unchanged, as he navigated the menus onscreen and picked out the party window. And with a quick few keystrokes, his invitation for Yuki to join the party was sent. "We.. uh.. go to the chaos gate, right?" |

Yuki jumped back and stared at him,"You're kidding... when you don't have any items? That's...intense. How about we stock up on a few potions first?" --- ->> Invite: Zerker. Accept | Decline >>Accept. . . . . . . Invite Accepted! 'Zerker' now added to party. |
