The crazy one (Deborah is just weird).
It was a cold and dreary day, but, that was the normal here. Once again, she perched herself on the highest point outside the hatching grounds after having some of berries Deborah brought (it seemed to work last time). She spread her wings and called out to all the male Lizardlings in the area, that she was ready.

Deborah had contacted an old friend at the fort, who happened to have a male Lizardling, to spend the time with.

When they were notified by the Fort Master they were slated to be transferred to another fort for a mating flight, Yaz was thrilled. Until, she discovered where it would be - Fort Purt. She was going - home. That left her with mixed emotions. They both hated the cold, which is why Deborah asked for a transfer the first opportunity she got. But, it was where she was hatched. She had many fond memories here. In spite of the fire burning in her blood, it was hard to keep out the old memories. Never the less, she had a duty to preform (all be it, an enjoyable one).

They had arrived days earlier to prepare for this. While Deborah was setting up where they were to stay, Yaz took a look around the place. It seemed not to have changed any. It even had the same Sand's Master when she was hatched.

(( As I understand it, since this is at another fort, the males will be NPC (unless you are visiting Fort Purt for some reason ;) ).
Like my previous flight; 1 day for the introduction and 2 days for the flight. Hopefully, that will give the Admins enough time to do their magic. :D ))

(( Update: Since it is slow around here, I will wait one more day for the introduction. ))

Many Keepers had been prepared for the arrival of the female Lizardling who was due to rise anytime. They had all been prepared for her and ready for it to happen. Especially a young Sigum man named Burgon, and his beloved bonded. An Air Lizardling named Kyix. They had recently graduated from the ranks of Cadet and entered an active wing. This made them more than eager to prove themselves to their Fort.

When Yaz had gathered up on the high point of the Hatching sands, Kyix had secretly joined her, hiding behind a peak of the stone ceiling and awaited her to make her first move. He was a tricky male with a penchant for cleverness and not so forward moves. He would wait for her to rise into the clouds and would lunge in before the others knew he was even going to join the flight!

He was easily hidden, for the most part, amongst the stone, as he was a rusty brown and slate-gray in coloration, like that of a water moccasin snake. The only problem was his underbelly and two patches adorning his hips, were a vibrant green. He was careful to hide his rear and keep his belly flat to the stone to remain hidden as he waited.

Lizardling Sloosh and Keeper Grim

To be honest living at Fort Purt was not bad. And in the years he had been here Grim had become accustom to the cold. Of course when one has been on one place for over fifty years one becomes accustom to how things are around you. And this Mesai male had no problem with life around him. Fighting the Ternarium was what he had been doing since the day his darling Sloosh had hatched and it was something he knew he would be doing until the day the two of them passed on and where unable to fight any longer for their people.

Sloosh was a male in every sense of the word. He had no problems fighting in the wings and clawing his way to the top of the lizardlings in the Fort. In fact he was a current Wing Second of the Blitz Creed Wing, something the brightly colored lizardling was very proud of. And with being in a position of power the older lizardling was quick to make sure his brightly colored hide was very well maintained, making his Keeper spend hours perfecting every inch of his body. Of course part of this was his defiance against his own coloring, having been born a brightly colored pink with some white edging to his wings and tail similar to some flowers he felt he had to show he was more masculine than his color showed.

Of course as he sat outside sunning today something was about to distract him, the shrill teasing call of a female in need of a mate. Sloosh snorts and puffs his chest before taking to the air and flying toward her call. Once he spotted the beautiful Yaszail he lands and puffs up his pink chest again, flaring his brightly colored wings to show off the white trim around the edges and the fading of dark pink from his center to the lighter pinks near those white edges, letting her get a full look at the male who was determined at this point, to be the only one who had a chance to win her.

Grim at this point frowns feeling his bonded’s sudden new interest and sighs before moving to see if he could find the other Keeper. If not there was always a chance he would run into Castail, making his SLoosh’s try at a mating flight a win win for him no matter what. After all where there was a mating flight in the making, Castail was NEVER far away looking to pick up a straggler or two for some fun. And to be honest in his fifty years of being a Keeper, the red haired Grim had come to enjoy the attention of the brightly winged Thayer…..

((OOC: Sloosh is based on this a very pretty pink flower, lol))

It begins!

They came, although, not as many as with her first successful flight, but, still a respectable number. Some flaunted their strength and color while others waited in the shadows. Regrettably the one she was hoping for was not here. Still, there were plenty of potential candidates. Since this was for Fort Zepher, she was not about to show any of them any slack. Diving off her perch, she swooped under a few of them before making a hard climb into the clouds above. She knew it was a risky move. Most just take off flying into the sky. But, being around Deborah, (an Lord Dark) gave her a devious streak. Reaching a low bank of clouds or fog (it was hard to tell the difference), she ducked into them and made a sharp turn. She knew she could not stay hidden for long, so she wanted to make herself as unpredictable as she could. Without the warmth of the suns, updrafts were few and weak. She would have to rely on her wits and skill. Unlike her other attempt, she flew in a random unpredictable pattern, several times making quick change to keep thgem quessing and off her back - until she was ready.

Deborah and Zydian knew the chase was on, by their Lizarlings, so, they mimicked it on the ground what was going on in the air. Deborah was off with Zydian in hot pursuit.

Poor Gnash was on the sidelines watching and experiencing some of the activity, feeling left out. Unfortunately, there was not female Wyvern taking flight (fortunately for Deborah). He just grumbled a bit and curled up in the den.

(( I remembered Deb's has 2 dragons and she would not leave him back at the fort. ))

Lizardling Sloosh

She was ready. Sloosh could see that she was as satisfied as she was going to get with the turn out from their Fort this fine day. When she suddenly dived off her perch he rumbled happily and jumped to follow her like the other males had as well. Shifting his body he streamlines himself to cut through the air, following the beacon of light that was Yaszail. She called to him and he was full of desire to catch her and make her is own for a while. As she suddenly darted back into the clouds above them he rumbled his appreciation before following her up into the fog banks wanting to stay as near to her as he could.

She changed directions fast and quick several times causing a few of the weaker willed males to drop out unable to keep up with her magnificence but he was not deterred by these actions. No he was determined to stay on her trail the entire time and allow nothing to get in his way or stop him at this point. Sloosh felt he was the best male in Fort Purt to father the beautiful Yaszail’s upcoming clutch and he was determined to prove that to her that she should let him be that male in the end.

Grim meanwhile had not managed to make it to where the darling Yaszail’s Keeper was. Instead he had been predictably distracted by the darling bright winged Thayer named Castail. Seeing him in distress as the flight started Castail embraced him with open arms so to speak and decided to fully take advantage of Grim’s state of being at that point. Not that the Mesai male particularly minded being around the other male at any given point in time. And he was not going to protest the Thayer’s attentions right now that was for sure.

Kyix had been waiting for her to take off, he paused, only a moment before he followed. The shady colored male lunged from his hiding spot and took off after the pack of males. She had a good ten or so following her today and he quickly mixed into the group like a shadow. He followed as she rose higher and higher, stealthily playing in the shadows of larger, more dominant males as he made his way closer to her. He would do his best to play it cool, trying to let himself gain some speed over the others.

Once they breached the clouds, many had lost sight of her and were desperately looking for Yaszail, but he had been smart, he had kept his eyes on her and did not let her go for a second. It was hard to make her out amongst the thick foggy clouds, but he was able to make out the silhouettes of her amongst it all and dived in after, screeching out a war cry like sound as he chased. If he was lucky, he'd manage to catch up to her and grab a hold before the others could! He wasn't the largest or most powerful of his kind, this meant that Kyix had to rely on his speed and his tact to make it anywhere if he wanted to father a clutch of his own. It would not be easy since Yaszail was clearly a smart and clever girl, but he'd fight to keep his place!

His Keeper, still on the ground, had quickly made his way to his private apartment where he would wait out this ordeal till it ended. He was one of the unfortunate types who did not care for this part of mating flights. Sure he could control the emotional and desire overload that he gained from the bond to his dragon, yet it was hard and he did not like the idea being in public where he could be seen during all this. Burgon locked himself away and settled on his bed for some meditative focus until this was all over.

With every twist, turn and dodge, the pack following her dwindled down until there ere only three. The problem was the light blue Lizardling. He had captured her once before and was too rough with her. Not this time! Although she kept watch on the others, she kept an especially close watch on him. Every time he made a move, she countered it. This kept on for a very long time. That is when she made her mistake. While watching him, she was not watching the other two. In a dodge to avoid the one, she was heading straight towards the rusty brown and slate-gray Lizardling at high speed. Realizing her error, she, desperately, tried to change course to avoid a collision.

Deborah and Zydian were entangled together when Deborah picked up in Yaszail's panic and Zydian, his lizardling's amusement. Deborah just flinched and readied herself for the impact. Seeing Deborah tense up, Zydian, held her close. Even Gnash sensed it, the 'great' Yaszail had made a mistake (at least, she kept telling him she never made a mistake). This was something he had to see. Bolting out of the den he headed to where he sensed she was hoping to get there in time.

(( Thank you Strifefox and Dragon for participating. ))
(( Congratulation for Kyix. He won 2 out of 3 tosses on Random.org. ))
(( I was trying to avoid power-playing with this post. ))
