Do you think Super may turn out to be worse than GT?

I know it's a bit of stretch to say this at this point but I fear Super might have potential to bombing harder than GT.

GT, for all it's faults, had many great ideas whereas Super gave me little to anticipate. It might have not been the case if Super was the first showing of BOG and FnF or actually took advantage of this re-telling but instead we get basically a slower, cheaper-looking version of BoG.

The characterization in Gt, while having some issues (Goku's characterization, the poor handling of Pan's character, the general lack of development), felt more like they were trying to following Toriyama's characterization as closely as possible (Even Muten Roshi and Chi-Chi were shown in a more positive, honest light). With Super, they seem to be just relying on tropes we've been used to for years and exaggerating them (mainly for the sake of comedy) for the most parts. Only Gohan, Bulma, Goten, Trunks, and Mr. Satan feel just like how Toriyama-sensei would write them.

The animation in GT seems better than Super's... despite being overall s***tier than Z's and possibly even DB's. The first episode of Super was pretty good... not super stsnd-out but it flows well, the second was decent enough, the third... a bit of a stinker but passable, the fourth was.. different but it was decent, and the last one... was horrendous. Even the worst episodes of the previous shows weren't this distractingly awful.

What's your thoughts?

Already been through this.

Still... Gonna be funny if it turns out that way for many people. The CANON story being worse than GT? Oh boy.....

I really think this will be worse than GT but I don't really care because I never really had too much hype for Super anyway

I'm like Epic, I was never excited for this series to begin with. If it continues with the same animation of Ep. 5 or fluctuates between that and the animation the series has been using than it's not going to win any points. I already hate the idea of retelling Battle of the Gods and Resurrection of Frieza so right now I'm on the fence of it being bad, but maybe not as bad as GT. Although I will say so far. Baby Saga > First 5 Episodes of Dragonball Super.

It depends on whether Oda comes up with better stuff after the FnF event.

I honestly wished that Dragon Ball Super never came out in the first place. I was okay with Battle of Gods and Fukkatsu no F coming out. But this series? No...just no.

After hearing about episode 5, I'm afraid of watching the rest of the series.

Agreed. I was fine with the series staying dead with the occasional movie, but a new series I'm just not into it. I don't want to watch, but I don't want to fall behind because it's surely going to come into discussion.

SSJ Goku (Boo) ~ Freeza is enough to help prove how things are going to go down. It's perhaps even more insane than GT haxes such as Dende-Baby/Popo-Baby > Kibitoshin. Plot-wise, it seems DBS has an upper hand at the moment with the exploration of multiverses, plus perhaps the BoG adaptation will get better in the next few episodes. The only thing in GT that wasn't a pseudo-reboot was the first part of the Evil Dragon Arc, so as long as the Universe 6 Arc is done well, DBS may still end up better than it.

Also I think the episodes are being wayyyyy too extended. Over 10 episodes for BOG really. I think they should have had 5 episodes for BoG then 5 episode for FnF. Anyway Goku apparently is going to have in battle asspull power ups

You guys don't understand a simple thing. Before episode 10 SSG will be introduced so no one cares about the previous transformations, they're dead. That's why the animation was so horrible, it's probably the only time in the entire series that you'll see SSJ1/2/3 Goku. I can understand why they were lazy. Same goes with the power, no one cares how strong was SSJ Goku vs Buu or how strong he was against Cell, most of the viewers probably don't even remember it. The same happend in Buu saga, how base trunks could keep up with #18? Because no one cares about how power were #18 back in the Androids saga. We debate the given details, but ATs style since Buu saga was to drop the previous powers and to use new, more comfortable ones.
Beides, looking on SSJ Goku in Beerus's OIV, even if SSJ Goku(Buu) is a hundered time stronger, an 0.00000001 and an 0.000001 are the same. BTW how does Beerus know Freeza and not Buu? Beating Buu is a far more impressive feat..

With that being said, everything in Super can be explained, and it matches AT's style IMO, but let's be honest:
The series are shit, I don't understand how you were excited from the first episode, it felt like it was a pushover, and a failing attempt to squeeze more money on a long dead anime. The movies were bad too, however, they were short and had a nice portion of content. Super has so little content that they're fucking retelling the movies, with the same plot exactly only in a much more boring and illogical way. Sure they introduced us 2 new characters(in a fucking poster and 2 minute scene), but then again so what? Remember how DBZ started with Raditz and they incoming Saiyans, it was something to anticipate for, same as Androids saga, we had a super saiyan from the future that gave us something to anticipate to. Super started with a bunch of filler styled scenes that very little care about, and your only anticipation is that the BOG and RF sagas would end.

Back to the question: nothing is worse than GT.

I don't know, really. Nothing has really happened in Super, y'know? Goku fought Beerus, yeah I saw that three different times now. What else? Beerus ate some food, Vegeta cooked some food, Goku did some training, Pilaf snuck on the ship, nothing really eventful, so it's hard to say. I will say though, the first six episodes of GT were much more entertaining. The highlight of Super was when Vegeta obliterated that motherfucking octopus.

I agree tho. So far, the BoGT >>BoS.

Maybe I am being bias because I already know what happens in Super. Not my fault, since they chose to do the remake. But I love GT more anyway. I will say that so far Super has had some good slice of life episodes but that is all.

It certainly looks that way

Champa is the only saving grace at the moment, unless something is done quickly super is going down the same path as GT by only making the Goku and Vegeta relevant.

Gohan is treated as joke in super.
