Aiden had blacked out. There was no telling how much time had passed. When his vision returned to him he was experiencing a sensation of shell shock. He knew there was shouting and explosions going on but they all sounded far away and muted. For a moment he was unsure where he was. His body ached something fierce and a dull throb matching his heartbeat ached on the side of his head. He began to rise to his feet when he felt that sharp pain in his leg. The feeling was unmistakable. The bone was broken. Gritting his teeth the human pushed through the pain and forced himself to an upright position. When he looked around he found his location dark. He tried to focus on what had happened. He remembered fighting Mentik one moment. The next he was thrown into the ground and…

Underground. That’s where he was. The two had continued their fight beneath the surface in one of the Tuffle’s man underground tunnels. With so little room to maneuver, Mentik’s ferocity and strength threatened to overcome the human. Still, he was alive and Mentik was nowhere to be seen. Why had he ignored Aiden? There was only one explanation he could think of. Mentik was after Reina.

He let out a groan as he limped forward, trying to keep as little weight on that limb as possible. Using a bit of bukujutsu helped him move forward without too much trouble. Once he had settled through the pain he pushed his mind outward in search of Reina’s ki signature. What he found nearly knocked him off his feet. This power… it was enormous. Was it really coming from her?

“Holy shit.”

The wall fractured behind Mentik’s shoulders as the pair collided with the sturdy duracreet structure. Mentik was battered, broken, and bruised, and Reina’s hand enclosed on his throat. Even with the differences in their height, his toes bare touched the ground, the last of his reserves spent on trying to keep the woman from outright killing him. And given the look in her eyes, that was a very real possibility. He opened his mouth to say something, and Reina squeezed harder, enjoying the way he choked on the words.

We’re done talking, Mentik,” she told him, her voice otherworldly as she closed the man’s airway, feeling all of this vicious rage pouring out of her and into him. It was so easy to just give into the instinct, the rage of the heightened power that accompanied the Saiyan transformation. Watching him die by her bare hands would have been a great pleasure…

...and that’s about the time the logical side of her came back.

Reina let him go, the big man sliding down the wall and crumpling in the debris at her feet - unconscious. She took a step back, those crystalline blue eyes turning hollow and sharp as she stared down at him, obviously defeated. Killing him wouldn’t bring back the people the Tuffles had destroyed or repair the damage they had done. As good as it would have made her feel...she wasn’t every bit the brute that they’d thought she was.

Aiden arrived shortly after. Hovering in the air with the use of that bukujutsu he neared the two fighters cautiously. To be completely fair, Reina’s power spike was almost hard to get close to. It threatened to overwhelm his senses and drown out anything else not Reina. To say this newfound power of hers was overwhelming would be an understatement. “Reina, what… what happened?” Aiden asked as he drew near. He saw the beaten form of Mentik at her feet - the man who just moments ago had them both at their limit just keeping him off of them. The fierce look on her face was cool, almost primal. Right now, standing there amidst the chaos radiating such power and prowess Reina truly resembled her Saiyan heritage.

Meanwhile, far overhead Aiden could hear the sound of thunder. In their struggle against King Ferdinand they had almost forgotten about the Tuffle’s super weapon. “No time to discuss it, we’ve got other things to worry about!” Glancing toward the hole through which he came he saw the blackened skies and hoped Reina understood his intention. They had to put a stop to that weather before it devastated the area.

With her new form going strong Reina would not be stopped. She flew into the air before turning and jetting toward the source of that weather. Her target: the machine fueling the storm. There was a lot of Tuffles that tried to get in her way and stop her from taking out their secret weapon. They came at her with every manner of attack. Hand-to-hand, ki barrages, guns, swords, explosives.

They didn’t stand a chance.

With a fury unseen before she decimated their ranks before crushing that machine between her palms like it was made of wet clay. The explosion caused from its destruction wracked the area and sent what few Tuffles Reina had not yet broken scattering all around in an attempt to get away from the golden aura in their presence.

Aiden watched on in awe. For the first time in his life he was witnessing the power of a real Super Saiyan in action. It was so far beyond that initial form that one could hardly compare the two. Her strength dwarfed Aiden’s now. It was more than enough to route the remaining Tuffles as well.

Soon enough with the invaders on the run the King’s army began to show up in force. Their units were safe thanks to the timely intervention of Reina and her destruction of the Tuffle’s doomsday device. They were in her debt this way for if she was not here to stop them then there’s no telling how many more would have to die before enough was enough.

Saving the Saiyans hadn’t been out of some desire to garner fame and fortune amongst her people. In fact, she almost wished she’d found a way to achieve victory without ascension. Fortunately, it was what had meant the difference between the annihilation (again) of the Saiyan race and preserving their planet - stolen or not. Fielding questions was easy enough, because Reina was more interested in getting back to Aiden. Apparently, that heightened form was quite the spectacle, drawing out the shock and admiration in her people - respect even. Seeing as the royal guard had taken their sweet ass time getting there, she was more than fine letting them handle the clean up.

Reina appeared beside Aiden again with a little quick use of instant transmission, ready to put some distance between herself and that place. She let go of the breath she’d been holding, the tension created in that incredible aura of her eased out of her with it. The golden aura faded, her hair sinking back to its dark color as it fell wild around her face, her eyes darkening before she looked him over, frowning when she caught him favoring one side.

Are you alright?” She felt guilty, knowing he’d incurred the damage when she couldn’t protect him. Some things just never changed.

“Never better. I’m glad you’re alive. Pretty thrilled I am too, honestly. Not bad for nearly getting ourselves killed again, huh?” he joked as he nursed his injuries. Truth be told Aiden was looking forward to getting off this rock and back to the Immortal as quick as possible. This was twice now that he had visited this planet and been caught up in some huge invasion scheme. He had half a mind to think if he stayed any longer the Arcosian people from the former Alpha Collective might suddenly attack as well. “Lets just hope for a moment of peace and no more bad news for a while, huh?”

Sadly, that was not to happen.

destroyed. I repeat, the Planet Earth in the North Quadrant has been destroyed.” Aiden was in shock. After returning to the Immortal and making himself comfortable in their medical bay Aiden was completely bowled over by the news he was greeted with. An entire planet was blown up while he was monkeying around on Vegeta. Not just any planet, either. Earth. The closest place he had to a home in this dimension.

“It… it can’t be. I can’t believe it.” His expression was sour and he barely seemed able to focus as he watched that vid screen and saw those repeating letters crawling across the bottom of the screen. His mind reeled. Planet Earth was destroyed. How? Why? He saw the report. Stories of the dragon being summed and throwing the planet’s energies out of synch. Why hadn’t Aiden heard of this? Why hadn’t he known? If he had only been there maybe he could have helped, prevented it in some way.

Reina didn’t say anything, ever the silent partner as she looked down from the scrolling text where she was leaned against his seat, her face blank to the series of emotions that rushed through her. Her eyes gave her away, focused too hard on the backs of her hands as she processed what she’d just heard. Earth was gone. She could hear it in his voice without needing the words, felt his guilt and the agony that came along with losing the human homeworld and likely countless members of his race. Reina was no stranger to that feeling, having experienced the destruction of Vegeta in their own dimension in their own time. It didn’t make it any easier to stomach all the same.

I’m sorry,” she said quietly not looking up. What else could she say? While what had happened was beyond both of their control, part if not all of the responsibility was hers. She was why the Dragon had been summoned and the Earth dragonballs were rendered useless when they might have helped save the planet. She was why they’d gone to New Vegeta. Was getting her tail back and regaining all the power that had come with it been worth it?

Aiden was at a loss for words. The realization was hard to swallow. What would he do now? Where would he go to? Sure with the Immortal they could go anywhere but Earth was the only place that really felt like he could fit in. Even here on Vegeta he always felt out of place. The majority of Reina’s race were not like her. Aiden had to process this. The news report kept going on and on, repeating the same message. There was talk of refugee centers set up on various worlds as well as donation options toward assistance. The whole thing made him sick. Not wanting to hear any more he quickly changed the broadcast to another signal.

”There you have it folks. It looks like some real heroes are coming out in support of this tournament!” Aiden only half paid attention to the screen now as some reporter spoke about some spectacle being held on another world. It all seemed rather pointless to him. That was, of course, until he spotted a particular individual on that screen.

“Whoa, wait. What?!” He pressed a quick command to freeze the feed before rewinding it. Coming back into view was an older man whose face Aiden recognized as clear as day. Like looking into a mirror he saw those old, brown eyes looking back at him.

“Ender.”

He motioned for Reina to look at the screen while a second holographic readout popped up beside it giving detailed information about the event in question. Reina took in the information with a glance of her eyes before she settled on the image of Aiden’s future self and tried very hard not to let her initial reaction show too much.

A tournament? On Konos?” The black star dragonballs had been used there, signalling the destruction for the planet just as Earth was. The people’s response? Go out with a bang. “Why the hell would Ender want to join a tournament?” It seemed very out of character, but then again, she knew the man never did anything without a reason. If the reporter was calling him some kind of a real hero, then chances were it was an opportunity to get his name out there again. It felt like the future all over again, except this time the dimension was different. This wasn’t good, and her dark eyes shifted to Aiden after a minute and she set her hand carefully over his.

Whatever you decide, I’m with you. We both know what Ender is capable of, and if he has planned what I fear he does, you know we have to find a way to stop him. Earth might be gone, but we’ll still make a way. We always do.” Reina didn’t try to pretend that everything was ok when it obviously wasn’t, but she did know with time it would be. Neither one of them really belonged in that dimension anywhere, which made finding a place to call home a difficult task. While it may not have been so important to her, it obviously had been to him.

In the back of Aiden’s mind he wanted to scream. Just let it out. All the frustrations he’d been through lately. So much just piled on one after the other after the other. Reina was the only thing keeping him from snapping at this point. Just once he would like a quiet reprieve from all the hectic events that just seemed to flock to him. He fought back the urge to hit something else he might break the vid screen.

Getting his anger under control he lowered his head and closed his eyes. Taking a deep breath he let it out in a heavy sigh. “Yeah, you’re right. Thanks, Reina.” Raising his gaze he stared intently at that screen now frozen on Ender’s smiling face. “You think you’re ready to defend your championship title? Looks like you and I will be heading to Konos and entering that tournament…”
