So I been thinking with a few of the new people were seeing and a few of the new people that we will continue to see, as it would be right now we have a date to when were going to start, making it a bit difficult for some of those newer people to sort through everything (Martial arts, races, Quests, combos, and etc) and get themselves to a level that's on par with some of us regulars on the site. Not many people know what the pros and cons are for each style of martial arts and can be a bit overwhelmed at times (for just one example). I know when I first started I just picked Hoakiru because it sounded nice and was the only one I read through all of because I just wanted to start as fast as possible. I'm noticing with a couple of the people I had looking at the site that theirs a similar problem involved where they just don't even know what their looking for. I propose we get a couple of us together to help write an advice page/forum for those starting out going over some of the basics that a few of us may have screwed up with when started in our earlier times here. Who would be down later to doing a group chat on Aim and discussing past experiences and failures to write a good advice page? Edited by Strange, Oct 13 2013, 10:40 AM.

That wouldn't be too bad. I went with Haokiru when I started here last saga, and I liked it. I thought it was an excellent style and after reading through it figured "I only need a full move set and I should be good." but I also had "If I can gain HP every turn, I can outlast my opponent" in mind. In reality you don't have to master your style. A handful of moves can easily get you through almost anything, except bad luck. Not to say having some additional moves in reserve wont help. |

Yeah I think that was my first mistake right there as well, thinking that a full moveset is all I need when in reality if you play it right you can get by with your start up training days (especially now that the masteries are down to 4 and the days are up by 12 ). It's those little things like how you should focus more on health to make hoa more beneficial, or dex to make things harder for your opponent in kuro, and all that good stuff we learn the hard way. edit: Best analogy. Thinking you need a full moveset is almost like starting up yugioh when we were young. A lot of us thought that if we kept walking around with big decks full of awesome high cost cards, we'd never lose but when ever we played we could never draw those cards we wanted, pull the combos we needed, and we wouldn't have enough monsters to sacrifice to put any good cards down. Somewhere after the 20th or 30th lose we'd get the point that we gotta stop walking around with fat decks and keep whats necessary in there. Edited by Strange, Oct 13 2013, 11:56 AM.
