The General
Starry skies were always something of a novelty for General Gold. Many of his nights were spent underground in a training facility in the Caucasus Mountains deep within Russia. It was only after he had spent five years developing his unique gift that he was sent out on a mission that would change everything for him. His eyes moved from the sky back to the inside of the craft that was on autopilot to return to the pirate country in the middle of the Grayrian Ocean. All of the information that was pulled from the two Full Moon Marauders gave them what they needed to infiltrate the country of scoundrels and thieves. Wardrobe was going to be a big part of blending in with the pirates, making sure that they were seen as Hybrid Saiyans instead of humans was going to be the other.

How’s that coming along?” he asked in the direction of a closed off room. Gold had discovered a nice stash of clothes -- thankfully they were all clean -- for them to use to make sure that the first portion of their infiltration was successful. The General was looking forward to Ava’s attire for the mission. Female pirate attire onboard the craft was scarce, meaning she had essentially select what was the only top for her to wear. A smirk crossed the man’s handsome face as he leaned against the wall across from the sealed door. His arms folded in front of him while he waited for her response.

There was silence on the other side, which had proceeded some very unhappy sounds from her when faced with what she was going to have to wear for this mission. Ava stood in front of the short mirror in those private quarters, staring down at herself with a rather frustrated expression as she turned from side to side, trying to find a way that would make this predicament she was now in any better. No fucking way. “Are you...sure this is what these pirates wear?” Her voice came out tentatively from behind that closed door as she adjusted the white blouse down her bare shoulder, tucking it and tugging it, unsure of where it looked better - or worse. “Because, I don’t know if I can show my face in public in this thing.” Not and hold onto any shred of dignity she had left. Ava raked a hand through the long dark strands of her hair, pulling it out of the pony-tail she’d had it tied back into and let it fall naturally around her face, trying to cover up a little bit of the bare skin along her neck and shoulders. With a sigh, she turned and opened that door, stepping back out where Gold was.

Ava was wearing a violet colored bodice, wrapped tightly around the woman’s midsection with a thick black leather thong. With the white blouse she was wearing beneath it falling low on her arms beneath the heavy material, every inch of her neck and shoulders were bare, along with the accentuated tops of her full breasts. It was - by far - not the attire of the marksman she was, and no amount of hair was going to hide how incredibly uncomfortable she was in it. The top was rimmed in black leather, folded over around the entire top and tipping the ends that fell over the flare of her hips. Her already slim waist looked even more so, and with an annoyed look she tugged at the short black skirt she was wearing under it, which barely did anything to hide her shapely legs. She’d had to trade in her combat boots for the thigh high heels that had been sitting in the trunk, and although they had been a size too big, tight strings had made them wearable. Ava looked at him incredulously, her Nosferatu in one hand, and a folded black hat sporting a purple feather in the other.

What the fuck kind of dress-up is this shit supposed to be? Where the hell am I supposed to put a gun, Gold? And don’t look at me like that…

Gold’s eyes widened a bit when she stepped out of the private quarters with the pirate guise that she was going to wear to the counter in the middle of the ocean. Ava had always been an attractive woman and the General appreciated her combat attire as both functional and fashionable. It was clear that the Saiyan pirates did not deem functionality as important as appearance, because there was little truly advantageous to the garment outside of luring the eyes of all interesting in two different directions at once. He brought a hand up to his mouth to hide his large grin for a few moments. Her question about the firearm that she had in her hand still lingering in the air.

I don’t think you want to hear any of my suggestions. Though there might be a bit of room to squeeze it between,” Gold gestured to the accentuated tops of her bosom as he held back a full on laugh. It was not a bad look on Ava -- quite the opposite -- but it was so not her in any way conceivable. Gold was almost certain that if she had not been dedicated to their personal mission that she would have dropped the idea to head for the pirate haven all together. His green eyes actually looked for a spot for her weapon or at least a capsule pouch. Eventually, he ended up on the toned expanse of her legs -- more specifically her thighs -- and handed her a strap that could be used to secure an item. “Inner thighs are always a favorite,” he suggested.

It was the playful pat on her bottom that might have crossed the line given the situation. Gold used the sliding steel door of the private quarters to guard him from any potential scowls or gunshots. They both needed to dawn a costume in order to join the spacefaring pirates of the Grayian Ocean. He looked down at the clothes available for him to wear and the jovial curl to his mouth faded into a memory. “Arc! Where are the other clothes?” he asked, not joking in the least. He could have sworn there were some more respectable pieces of clothing in the collection they found in the back of the craft. It took him five years to adjust -- and eventually like -- the stylish articles of clothing that he wore on an everyday basis. Now he was going to have to put on what he essentially summed up as, “...a fucking fluffy clown suit.

Although he was on the inside and couldn’t see, Ava had a hand over her mouth, hiding that cheshire cat grin that was plastered on her face. She bent over at the waist, laughing as quietly as she could, knowing exactly what he was faced with. “W-what other clothes?” she replied, her voice jumping with the effort to not blow her own cover. “I didn’t realize there was more in there. That’s all there was when I came out.” Of course it was, because she’d accidentally misplaced all the other selections. Kami, if she had to wear that heathen wench attire, he could stomach being - what had he called it? A fucking fluffly clown, for one night. Who knows, maybe it would help him get in with all the other pirates who liked ruffles.

I swear to all things Namekian that if I find those clothes when we are done with this I’m going to ---” Gold’s oath was interrupted with the sound of an alarm chime. It was not the kind that indicated any enemy threat, instead it was alerting them to an impending hail from a craft that was registered friendly. He looked up towards the ceiling as if there was a button in the private quarters to press to stop the alarm. Another round of the alarm went off to confirm that the new issue was not going to just go away. “We’re being hailed?” he said in more of a rhetorical fashion.

Can you get that while I put this…bullshit on?” Gold requested, already removing his all black top to start putting on the puffy-sleeved monstrosity of a shirt.

All of the amusement sank out of her, suddenly sobered by the reality that someone was making contact with them, and she doubted very much it was Command checking in. No one knew they had “procured” the enemy vessel as the pair of them had with their latest encounter. Ava slid that hat on as she moved through the ship towards the control room, her keen gaze shifting over the panel to familiarize herself with it before she took a seat in the Captain’s chair and acknowledged the transmission with a flip of a switch. Ava was a master of her facial expression, not looking as panicked as she felt below the surface as she took a breath. Leaning back, she kicked her boots up onto the panel, resting her gun in her lap and drawing a finger down the barrel in a bored movement as she waited for the image of whoever was giving them a ring to fill the screen.

When a Saiyan woman’s face appeared, Ava’s brow arched slightly, unsurprised to find the “fellow pirate” was sporting attire similar to her own, though red. She wasn’t unattractive, with strong features and long black hair, tamed in a thick braid that fell over one shoulder. Around her arm was a band, depicting the full moon of the marauders she and Gold had encountered earlier. Ava could tell by the way the woman’s face hardened that she wasn’t laying eyes on who she expected.

Where’s Dee?” she asked, without giving any kind of a friendly greeting. There was suspicion in her eyes, and Ava could only guess it was one of the bandits she and Gold had taken care of. The way her dark eyes were moving, Ava knew she was looking for one of the men she recognized.

He’s stripping the cruiser we shot down. He and the others are seeing if there’s anything worth taking on board.” she answered calmly, her mind working fast to make the response believable.

And the pole? Please tell me you didn’t lose it with your little excursion?” she replied with a sneer, obviously displeased with the decision they had made to take down Ava and Gold’s ship to begin with. That was interesting, and though Ava couldn’t comment on it for fear of giving them away, she did make a mental note of some dissention in the ranks.

We have it,” she answered quickly, the response closer to the truth than anything else she’d explained since the beginning of that transmission.

And who are you, exactly? I don’t know your face, or what the fuck you think you’re doing unsupervised on my ship,” she growled, the Saiyan pride evident on her face when she realized that Ava, wasn’t full blooded herself. That was what they had planned, after all, to pose as Hybrids within the gang. How was she supposed to answer that question without completely giving them away?

How these idiots run around in this stuff is really beyond me,” came a voice behind Ava. The General stepped into view of the communication between the angry Saiyan pirate and a lying Ava. His green eyes noticed the scowl on the woman’s face and he immediately realized they were in trouble. A second warning alarm went off and this one was telling them of impending attacks. The craft that was hailing them was now locked onto their position. “Turn this bitch off and let’s get moving,” Gold said with a mirrored scowl towards the Saiyan woman in red.

Gold hopped into the pilot’s seat for the craft, knowing Ava was much better on the guns of the vehicle they were riding. Risking to exit and battle them on foot was too much, plus they might draw the attention of others too quickly. One hand reached up to flip the alarm switch so the siren would stop wailing and the other already started banking them to the port side. A huge burst of sand exploded in front of them as a red lance of energy sailed through the spot where they had just been a second ago. The rear turrets were charging up to give them some cover from the pursuing vessel. “Missile launchers are empty save for one salvo. They must have used a lot of ammo between stealing the staff and shooting us down. See if you can buy us some maneuvering room. I’m going to lead us towards that canyon,” he instructed while evading another round of cannon fire from their turret.

Ava knew her place in this fight without having to be told, pulling herself out of that chair as the image of the woman went dark. “I’m on it,” she called out, disappearing through the body of the ship and sliding into the rear turret as it came online, the screen in front of her displaying the horizon and their pursuers in the distance. It didn’t take long to acquaint herself with the controls, the display equipped with cursors for aiming - a feature she didn’t intend to use. Company was closing in on them faster than either of them could have anticipated, and the minute the turret came online, Ava set to work trying to buy them some time for escape. Firing out of a ship was considerably different than staring down the lense of a gun, but the concept was much the same. Without time to calculate trajectory, she relied on good old fashioned aim and timing as her screen lit up with gunfire, bending to make up for the rate of their escape, courtesy of the gun-mistress herself.

They have shields,” she reported, cursing loudly when her volleys hit the defensive measure instead of doing in their pursuers like she was hoping. Luck didn’t appear to be on their side, given their lack of missiles, and she stared at the indicator on the screen illuminating just how many they had left - knowing they would have to count. The ship rocked as they were hit, alarms of a different sort blaring in response. “Circle the canyon, lure them in there! The more narrow the space the better. They can’t control their gunfire like I can.” And the less maneuverability they had, the better for her.

Gold put his faith in Ava’s ability to hit targets -- moving or non -- once more when she stepped to the back of the craft. A more optimal situation would have landed them a third person to gun on the ship. The additional help could have easily put them at the advantage given Gold’s skill at piloting and Ava’s uncanny ability to hit targets. Unfortunately, they were without that extra crew member and were doing things the hard way. A starboard juke gave them enough room to not be vaped by the chasing vessel’s laser cannon. Brown terrain filled the viewport as Gold made a hard bank that took them towards the canyon. Ava’s gamble on them not being able to maneuver also put them in a precarious scenario. The test was going to be left into which gunner had the better plan, trigger finger, and reaction time.

Five seconds!” he called out to Ava in the back. Canyon walls rushed up on them exactly at the five second mark. Gold dipped the craft low to evade a bypass that connected one end of the rocky chasm to the other. That very same structure against the impact of a crimson lance of energy from their pursuers. Gold knew that they were without shields and one hit from the laser cannon trained on them could end the trip really soon. A sudden twist in the canyon, forced him to bank hard to the port side and he heard the sickly whine of metal being scrapped along the side of a rough surface. The ship rocked from the contact with the face of the canyon wall and a diagnostic popped up on the heads-up display detailing the damage. “Got some good news! One way or another this little chase is coming to an end soon!

A rough yank on the control sticks righted the ship despite the damage to the starboard navigation system. Gold’s arms were starting to strain against the yoke of the craft as it was losing control on the starboard side and being held steady by his physical strength alone. If he could hold still long enough to land Ava one shot it was all they needed to get out of their jam -- at least that is what he kept telling himself.

Wait for it…” It was a mantra she had said to herself more than one time, the repetition of those three words granting her patience - the patience it took to succeed. Despite the precarious nature of their situation, Ava knew she was stealing seconds, precious moments that would make or break them in such a close quarters fight. This was what she had been counting on, relying on Gold’s ability to outmaneuver the enemy ship, all while trying to avoid their advanced weaponry in hopes of luring them into the trap Ava was setting. She knew, the minute that Gold pulled them into the bend of the canyon this was her opportunity - and she took it.

The Saiyan craft disappeared around the corner, following the same path that Gold had in trying to avoid the cliff face on either side of them, and knowing where they were going to emerge is when Ava switched the controls and without hesitation deployed the missile loaded within. She dropped her hands from the controls, throwing out her hands as she felt her Ki stretch across the void of open space between she and that volatile ammunition, seizing control of the immediate gravity around it, and with astonishing accuracy, changed it’s straightforward trajectory as though it had a life of its own. The minute the enemy craft emerged in their line of sight again, the missile was waiting for them, striking them hard on the port side with enough force to drop their shields upon detonation and knock them right into the cliff surface they had been so desperately trying to avoid - No Way Out.

The resulting explosion illuminated every shadow within the canyon below them, leaving a crater in the side of the rock face and raining debris down onto the ground below. The scorch in the earth was a jagged smile of a scar, and only when she sensed their enemy’s ki signatures extinguish did she slowly lower her arms back to her lap, feeling the effects of adrenaline coursing through her, her heart suddenly falling into that erratic uneven pattern that made her sag forward over the turret in relief... She did it, somehow.

Gold heard the explosion behind them that came shortly after they had managed to bank around the sharp bend. The red hue of his heads-up display faded away to indicate that they were no longer being targeted. The General’s teeth were still grit as he guided them towards the exit of the canyon towards the edge of the Grayian Ocean. Blue waters filled the viewport the moment they exited the narrow pass. A sudden dip in altitude told Gold that they would be traveling the rest of the way via floating and using the propulsion of the craft to push them along the water. “Brace!” he warned, guiding the wounded ship towards the surface of the water. Attempting to cut their speed to reduce the impact only netted them enough cushion to not rip the bottom of the craft out from under them. Gold would have bounced out of his seat had it not been for the harness keeping him strapped down.

Once the initial impact rode out, the craft came to a stop in the relatively calm ocean waters. The General undid his harness and began to check the systems diagnostic to see what functions were still available. Engines, on-board systems, and the main navigation were all still green, but there was a glaring crimson light on the starboard side showing the stabilizer was completely shot. “Very nice work,” Gold said towards Ava as he walked to the back of the wounded ship. The only reason they survived that encounter was her clutch missile shot into the enemy pirate ship as it rounded the viscous canyon turn.

We’ve got enough power to cross this ocean the old fashioned way, but I don’t think this thing will be flying anytime soon. I’m going to get us moving.” All of the excitement had almost made him forget about the silly clothes he was wearing, until he reached down to engage the engines and saw the puffy sleeve of his white shirt.

Damn pirates…

_______________

The island they had been looking for opened up on the horizon, and Ava wasted no time pulling off the scope of her rifle so she could get a good look at the beach front they were sailing into, to help orient them to what they were walking into. She wasn't surprised to see a port engineered for the reception of water and air based crafts. There was movement, but it didn't appear they had been noticed - yet. She set the scope down on the panel in front of her and shifted to balance her leg on the chair, strapping on the holster that Gold had handed her, so she could arm herself with that familiar Nosferatu out of sight beneath the skirt she was wearing. "Looks like we made it, finally. Let's hope getting out of here proves to be easier than getting in," she commented without looking up as she fastened that band against her toned thigh before setting her foot back down on the floor.

"I counted less than a dozen monitoring this coast, but if they have any kind of radar system, they'll know we're coming. Better get our story straight, for however long they believe it," Ava continued, setting her hat back on her head, straightening it with a jerk of her hand so the feather stayed out of her damn face."I surmise that if we can get ourselves past this port, we might stand a fair chance of finding whoever the hell it was that shot us down. That is, if we intend to go through the front door. I know I didn't put on this stupid costume for nothing." Ava scowled, her distaste for the attire showing as she tugged on the leather bodice to try and give herself half an inch more to breathe in.

Gold was actually quite relaxed as they approached one of the ports to the infamous Pirate’s Cove. Coasting across the Grayian Ocean provided him with time to plan out how they were going to infiltrate the pirate country without being forced to fight all of the Saiyan pirates on New Vegeta. His legs were hiked up on the dashboard of the craft and both of his hands were folded comfortably behind his head. The relaxed posture was only released once Ava announced they were closing in on the port to the point where radar could pick up their location. She was right to worry about what they were going to tell the guards at the port. A bad story would net them on a country in the middle of a planet with a bunch of angry Saiyans. Pirates or not, that was not a recipe for an enjoyable time.

We’re going to go in through the front just like we planned. We tell them we are new recruits for the Full Moon Marauders. Our ship got shot down by some of the King’s security patrol because they were on heightened alert after one of the royal treasures was stolen. We managed to escape with a damaged ship and coasted here off of reserve power.” The General was positive that the story would at least get them acceptance onto the mini-continent if not pointed in the direction of the head of the Marauders. Either way sneaking by the guards would be easy enough with the proper attire and demeanor.

Upon reaching the port, Gold parked the wounded vessel in an empty docking bay and adjusted his clothing. Much like Ava, he was going to be very happy to be free of the pirate gear once their job was done. The moment the General set foot onto the steel walkway a pair of Saiyan guards were waiting for him. Scowls must have been practiced in order to be a pirate, because they were already looking at him like he was not to be trusted.

What’s all this here?” asked one of the guards.

Yeah, ain’t no registry for this thing here,” chimed in the other Saiyan.

I can assure you both that there is a perfectly good reason for everything. You see we are ne-” Gold started to explain.

Hello there, lovely,” interjected the taller of the two Saiyan guards.

The bald pirate eyed Ava the moment she poked her head up from inside of the craft and stepped onto the deck. A disinterest in Gold’s story formed almost immediately. The human posing as a Hybrid could have been talking about how he came from a lost city at the bottom of the ocean. Both men only had eyes for the lady who was traveling with Gold.

It took everything in Ava to quiet what would have been her original response when she realized they could have cared less about anything Gold had to say. She was a pretty girl, after all, and at once, Ava realized why the women wore the ridiculous get-up in the first place. It practically screamed come get some without really needing to say anything. Alright, if that was how the game was going to be played, she could manage that - she hoped. "Well, aren't you both a site for sore eyes," she said softly, her normally rough and forward mentality disappearing beneath a more demure persona as she stepped around Gold and between them, flashing them a smile. "We almost didn't make it, and we've just been on the water for so long," Ava feigned weariness, gesturing for both men to walk with her as her boots clacked noisily on the metal beneath her feet. When they followed without much prompting, she gave Gold a glance over her shoulder, to be sure he wasn't far behind in case she got in over her head.

"Is that so? Are you checking in, or just passing through?" he asked, bending in close, too close - enough that she resisted the urge to flinch.
"We're checking in, actually. My friend here and I, we're new recruits - just in from a tour at Namek, you see. We'd have been here hours ago if we hadn't been shot down shortly after breaking the atmosphere. And now, our ship is grounded." Saiyans were a predictable sort of species, in that they prided themselves in their strength - and a woman in need was a weakness.

"Say, you guys wouldn't be willing to escort me to the check-in, would you? Maybe even to a place I could settle in afterwards?" The inflection of those words were filled with promise of a pleasurable evening, and she didn't bother to correct herself of its not-so-innocent nature when they looked at each other, and then to her - Gold apparently forgotten behind them.

Gold’s initial reaction to the situation was to prepare for some sort of knock down, drag out brawl on the deck and trying to blast their way deeper into the mini-continent. He knew that Ava did not appreciate being noticed solely for her physical appearance, especially when it came from less than kosher sources. The response from the weapons specialist left him with a slack jaw and a sudden confusion as to where she had summoned the change on persona. Ava’s glance behind her to silently tell him to follow was the only thing that reminded him to keep walking after her.

Several important details were spotted by Gold as they moved through the dock stations to the check-in point. The guards on the port were light but that was because there was a skeleton crew working the post-midnight shift. Dawn was only in an hour or two which meant some amount of luck had shined down on them. Any closer to the morning crew and they might not have had the fortunate of running into the two Saiyans that were all eyes and ears for Ava. The number of ships docked were low, suggesting this was a temporary port that did not house crafts much bigger than the one Gold had docked. By the time they reached the check-in station, Gold counted a crew of around twenty.

We’ll get you and your bodyguard through no problem. Even got a spot you can rest your pretty head once we get by all the formalities,” the bald Saiyan promised.

Yeah, tell us which lucky band has such a pretty lass like you? We can be sure you get back to your Commodore with no issues from some of the more unsavory bastards ‘round here.

That would be the Full Moon Marauders, correct?” the voice that answered was piercing and direct. Vocals that were destined to belong to some sort of leader.

Standing in front of the check-in station with at least fifteen fully armored pirates was a tall -- at least seven foot -- Saiyan with spiked black hair. He wore a large hat that had a red feather in it along with the emblem of a full, silver moon on the front of the ornate piece of headgear. All of the other pirates were sporting bandannas or armbands of the same symbol, each one of them with a not so pleased look on their face. All of the guards at the check-in were aiming their pistols, hands, or rifles towards the quartet. Naturally, the two guards looked at one another and stepped away from Ava with a casual gait to the left or right. A pretty woman with goods on display was great, but so was staying alive to have a chance at even more said ladies.

I will admit. I’m impressed with your ability to stay alive against so many of my men. I will furthermore admit that it saddens me that I will be killing such a fine specimen of woman. Hybrid or not, you will learn your place when it comes to harming Daikon and his Marauders. Any last words? This be pirate country, after all.

Their cover was blown...manipulating the male Saiyan species had seemed too easy after all, and things involving the monkey-race were never easy. Ava righted herself, the somber expression on her features taking over the helpless woman she'd been portraying now that they were faced with such formidable means of an enemy. Ava didn't move to draw her weapon as her eyes took in the sight of them all gathered, calculating the odds that they were going to make it out of there in one piece, instead of many. What had started out as a promising mission had turned south - very quickly. Instead, she held her hands up defensively, palms out to the gathering as she turned to face them.

"Boy, did you pick the wrong ship to shoot down on the wrong day," she responded quietly, the sudden flare of her ki the only warning of her silent preparations. When the thunderous ringing of gunfire went off, the world around she and Gold began to waver, her aura projecting out and crushing the ground at their feet as gravity intensified to an almost unbearable level. She stepped in close to her partner, hands held out as they watched the incoming fire reach the edge of her shield and descend rapidly, hitting the ground harmlessly at their feet.

"I suppose, we should have mentioned, we aren't Hybrids either. She commented, pulling that pistol into her palm with a practiced movement and holding it at the ready, that heavy aura still solid around the both of them.

Gold would have answered with some attempted remark that would try to be both humorous and threatening. Ava’s response was a lot better and kept them both focused on the task at hand: not dying. A nice trench was being dug in front of the duo as the hailstorm of multi-colored ki slammed into the gravity barrier separating them from life and death. The General took his position next to Ava in a practiced formation. His right hand was held up into the air with his fingers outstretched and pointing skyward. Instead of trying to signal someone far off in the distance, Gold was gathering all of his energy into one specific point. The technique took longer to focus than his typical pace of combat, but with Ava guarding him it was safe to do. His ki signature continued to rise until it spiked at his absolute maximum.

So many electrons filled the air around the combat that the hairs on the back of most people’s necks would be standing straight up. Communication devices would be blocked from any transmissions and even short-range scouters would have problems working properly. Gold’s next words were drowned out when he dropped his upraised arm in a swinging command by a loud, resounding KAR-KOOM! A flash of golden lightning struck down in a split-second, lancing through the ranks of Daikon like a superheated solar flare. More than half of his men were incinerated into ash around the epicenter of the strike. Gold’s problem was that he did not see the Commodore standing in or near the pile of granulated bodies. A heavy footstep shook the ground and commanded the General’s attention away from the devastated ranks of pirates.

Green eyes met the deepest red the blonde had ever seen on a living thing. Those eyes were massive and at least fifty feet above the ground. Gold always knew why Saiyans were called monkeys or apes. He had even seen footage explaining what happened when a Saiyan with a tail looked at a full moon or moon-like object. None of that prepared him for actually facing the Oozaru form in person. The human grit his teeth to hold back the look of concern that would have flooded his facial features. Daikon’s men were recovering from the unexpected strike and now they had a raging ape on their hands. Daikon roared to the heavens as he raised his enormous foot up to try and smash down on Ava’s dome of protection. Gold knew that even if she could resist the pressure, having her drained for the rest of this would be a huge problem.

MOVE!” he yelled, grabbing her by the waist and shooting off in a direction opposite the Oozaru foot and away from the rest of the pirates.

When Ava was faced with that giant foot landing on the ground where she and Gold had been standing minutes before, she was suddenly grateful to be hoisted right off her feet. Ava dropped a hand on his arm around her middle and lifted the other to fire off a round of charged ki through the Nosferatu in their retreat, shaving off a portion of the fur on the massive Oozaru’s calf. It was all it managed to accomplish, that and thoroughly pissing off the Commodore all the more.

"Oh...shit," she stammered, the full of the situation settling in on her as her eyes widened and she looked up the many feet taller than them that the Saiyan was in that transformed state. His power level was massive, and only when she was set down did her own aura flare around them again, drawing on power to replenish what she had lost. Suddenly things were looking much more dire than they had started and Ava reached up to pull that ridiculous hat off.

"We can't stay together," she realized, her voice dropping an octave as she watched the Oozaru turn on them. It would take coordination and skill, keeping the much larger opponent on his toes so that she and Gold didn't end up underfoot or worse. When the big monkey opened his mouth and fired off a beam of white hot ki at them, she shoved off in the opposite direction to avoid it, running just outside of the massive man's reach to avoid a great paw that grabbed for her when she got too close. Ava bounced sideways, her gun trained upwards as several shots went off, curving around his body and striking him high in the chest, for what it was worth. Her attacks were either useless, or he was completely unbothered by the damage he was taking, even as gashes opened up on his torso. She caught a big foot right in the side and went bouncing across the ground like a ragdoll, narrowly escaping a second crushing stomp of that foot.

Gold was going to disagree with Ava about sticking together, but before he could get the words out they needed to move again. A smoldering line of burned earth was left in the wake of the ki beam from Daikon. All of the other pirates stopped their fighting to watch the duo try their luck against the mighty Oozaru Commodore. Jeers were blurted out from the crowd, but none of them reached the engagement thanks to the loud roars of the powerful Saiyan. It was when the foot struck Ava and sent her hurtling across the surface of the ground that he knew they were most likely not going to make it. The General righted himself from his defensive stance and began his march towards the giant ape.

Golden sparks of electricity started to leak from the corner’s of Gold’s eyes as he gathered as many of the electrons around them as possible. His hands started to quiver with the sheer amount of energy that he was trying to contain inside of him at once. The blonde hair on his hand wavered while bursts of lightning snapped around him, snapping in the air around him and leaving circles of volatile lightning after each footstep. The heat alone from the lightning peeled away at the fabric of the pirate shirt he was wearing that was no longer useful. The dark scar on the right side of his face began to glow with a brilliant hue of gold. A sphere of electricity eventually encircled the determined human, making him stand out like a fog light in the darkness. Even the brightening sky was nowhere near as luminous as Gold by the time he stopped in front of the giant monkey.

Daikon looked down at Gold when he realized something had made its way towards him instead of running away. The Commodore raised his super-sized foot into the air with a flash of his pearly white teeth. “Die!" he bellowed, stamping down towards the glowing form of human he spotted underneath him.

Gold turned his gaze skywards, observing the foot as it raced down towards him with surprising speed given the size of the enraged monkey. The General raised a single hand into the air, palm out flat to intercept the impending doom. A wide bolt of lightning crashed down from the sky upon impact of foot to hand. The either beneath Gold’s feet cratered, driving him deep into the center until he could not be seen.

Daikon began to laugh despite the searing pain in his leg from the bolt of lightning that opened up a gaping hole in his appendage. The laughter stopped suddenly when he saw a fuzzy, brown object racing up at him at insane speeds. The object was pulsing with golden arcs of lightning and connected with a thunderous boom. A familiar sphere of lightning lifted itself out of the crater with a human-shaped center of brilliance poised in the middle.

After snapping back his head back from the impact of the projectile to his skull, Daikon finally noticed he felt lighter. The head of the Full Moon Marauders looked down to his horror as he realized his foot had not been damaged by the bolt of lightning, it had been removed. His balance was now very much in jeopardy and he needed to use his ki to keep his steady. Now even angrier, Daikon opened his mouth wide and began to gather a huge mass of white ki, ready to put his all into an attack that would wipe Gold off of the face of the galaxy.

Ava appeared beneath the great ape then, her gun clasped in the palm of her hand as she rushed towards his feet - or foot, courtesy of their friendly neighborhood Duracell having removed the other. Ava's ki signature snapped, reaching the ceiling and spilling over into uncharted territory as her aura stretched out to encompass the massive Oozaru in the form of an unstoppable wall of force. It crashed into him, invisible and deadly as it tore through the ground with an intensity Ava hadn't realized she was capable of. When the Commodore fell it was into the crater that the pressure of her gravitational pull had created beneath them. Any balance he had been hoping of keeping was gone as he fell onto his injured side, unable to even lift his head under the intensity of her. The length of Ava's dark hair fluttered upwards, suddenly light and without weight as her energy took the form of the debris she was ripping from the earth at her feet. Anything within the crater around her was left susceptible to the weight of her aura, which had breached anything any human or Saiyan could have been able to sustain. She was visibly changed when she pulled herself upright, fists clenched over her head as she pushed herself beyond her own limitations.

Although Ava's ki was unseen, the devastation could be seen around her, a pull that couldn't be ignored - like a magnet to metal. The ships in the docking bay and on the water began to pull in, beating against the metal flooring until it curled upwards with the intensity. She lifted her hands and they pulled out of the water, battering across that port and destroying anything in its path. Debris flew in on either side of her as she used herself as the focal point, and ultimately the transformed Commodore who disappeared beneath a pile of anything and everything not currently anchored in some way. As quickly as it had risen up like a magnetic storm, it quieted, no movement coming from beneath the pile it had created.

The end of Daikon was not pretty. Gold’s feet touched down after he watched the end of the Commodore. Silence filled the air after all of the destruction and carnage. The General felt his sudden spike in power slip away, no longer needed after the adrenaline left his blood. A heavy weight of tiredness began to set in on him, but he pushed it aside to search for one of the boats that had not been used to buried the Oozaru. They had done well to survive, but getting away was going to be key to ensure that survival lasted long enough to matter.

Ava sank back into that original state, feeling her heavy limbs complaining. The gathering of Saiyans was already beginning to gather after the encounter, which meant it was time to get the hell out of there. She turned to move, taking no more than two steps before something painful rang in her ears, enough that it knocked her off balance and she staggered. It happened again, and she looked around, desperately trying to find the source of the sound. It beat faster, in opposite tempo with her heart deep in her chest. She realized with a panicked look it wasn't coming from anywhere, but rather inside of her, making her suddenly dizzy as her heart began to work twice as hard to overcome the strange beating.

"Kami, not now! she cried, gripping at her chest as she tried to move as quickly as she could, knowing the other Saiyans would be on them in moments, but her eyes blurred. Where had Gold gone? He'd been right there minutes before. Improper blood flow made it hard to think and move, and Ava collapsed in the crater, her neck pulsing with the heavy erratic thuds deep in her chest. She couldn't make sense of anything, even as she lay along the ground, desperately trying to make her body work enough to pick herself back up with every gasping breath she took. It was harder to breathe, the weight in her chest so heavy she couldn't seem to ever catch her breath. Was this it? Was she really destined to die there in that crater, imprisoned by her own body? She could just feel the seconds ticking away with every rushing beat of her heart.

6...5...4

Ava closed her eyes, darkness pushing in on her just as figures had filled her vision. It was her final thoughts before unconsciousness sank in that she hoped for his sake, Gold would leave her there.

3...2...

Joint Quest: Pirate's Cove
Participants: Glacier (425 wpd - Henchmen), Aiden (225 wpd - Henchmen, Battle Mod)

Upon approach to New Vegeta, Aiden had spent the majority of his time in the small training room within the Havoc. It was one of the few places on the ship he did not feel cramped given its open space. It helped him forget the fact he was effectively in a tin can sailing through nothingness just dying to get inside and crush the air out of his lungs and freeze him to death. Space flight, as evident, was not something Aiden enjoyed very much.

Back in his home dimension, Aiden had been the pilot of his very own ship - The Immortal. The difference being? The Immortal was absolutely massive. It's space was able to hold an entire colony of people. There were times it was easier to use a small jump from Instant Transmission to get around his ship than it was to walk to each deck. While the Immortal was in flight its crew would never feel the usual stresses that came with deep space travel. It was entirely too simple to get lost in the surrounds of the ship and be at ease.

Such was not the case for the Changling -- sorry, Arcosian -- designs. They are sleek and made for performance and stability over living comfort. It makes sense when you consider they were designed by a race whose empire in its prime spanned two whole quadrants of the galaxy. They needed the best, fastest, and most powerful ships. Comfort usually took a backseat to that.

It was due to these circumstances that Aiden was currently present in the training room when they made their approach on New Vegeta. He was immediately made aware of the Havoc exiting the docking bay of the Perdition and taking a different route. A voice came over an internal intercom telling him to be ready for their big mission. Aiden had his own part to play in things. As usual Glacier was getting the two of them into some sort of trouble.

--

" The people I'm here to pick up have run into a problem with the local pirates. We're going to be performing a rescue mission. "

"Sounds good. What can I do to help?"

" You actually won't be doing the rescuing. During the skirmish the pirates in the cove will be busy dealing with us. I need you to get inside while we're distracting them. "

Aiden's brow furrowed and he crossed his arms over his chest. "What for?"

" There are some items I need that I've heard have fallen into the hands of these pirates. You can grab whatever else you see there for yourself so long as you're able to carry it back. "

"So, while you go play the hero I'm going to be playing the part of the guy behind the scenes. My how our roles have flipped since I met you..."

--

The human made his way to one of the exits of the ship. The Havoc would hover low over the water not far from the Pirate Cove before opening said exit letting Aiden dive down into the water and begin his swim toward the shore. Meanwhile, the Perdition took to the sky in order to get into position for Glacier's big plan.

As much as the two didn't always see eye to eye on how to do things, Aiden had to admit that Glacier was scary smart when it came to actions like these. He might like to hold the image of a brute, someone to be afraid of for his physical prowess - truthfully, most still were - but Aiden had come to know that Glacier's real strength tended to stem from his mind. If his little scheme worked out the way he had planned? The pirates wouldn't know what hit 'em.

It didn't take long for Aiden to reach the island. Thankfully there was no one watching guard on the area he washed up. Either it was due to their skeleton crew on watch or due to the redirection of man power due to Gold and Ava's assault or perhaps a bit of both. Aiden managed to successfully reach the place without setting off further alarms.

Moving through some of the busier streets Aiden was stopped by three armed pirates, their face showing confusion given the current situation. Thinking fast, Aiden pointed in the direction of the battle. "What'ya standing around for, landlubbers? Captain Blackbeard wants every able scurvy dog to take up arms! We're under attack!" His lack of accent and terrible usage of 'pirate lingo' was bound to get him caught.

"C-Cap'n Blackbeard said dat? You 'erd da man! Move it!" came one of the replies. All three of the pirates ran off to join in the fray. Aiden stood there for a moment bewildered.

"I can't believe that actually worked." No one ever spoke tales of pirates and their impressive brainpower after all. Thanking his good fortune he pressed deeper into the hold in search for what Glacier was after. Along the way he stopped suddenly at the sound of a voice.

"Aiden!"

"Who? Where did...?" He fell into a defensive stance before looking around. This area was deserted. Where did that come from?

"...den. Aiden over he-..."

Following the voice, Aiden moved into one of the man storage rooms. It was littered with all sorts of stolen goods. On wall racks were several weapons no doubt belonging to people of authority. One even looked to be the sword owned by King Vegeta himself; or at the very least, it was an impressive duplicate. On a shelf to the far right were a series of glass jars, each one with an arm or leg inside. The description on one jar read Arm of Alister Brand. Another one read Leg of Steve Blando. Did these pirates really keep limbs as trophies?

Since entering the room the voice Aiden had been following had gone silent which left him on edge. Looking through the wares he eventually found a strange, red chest no wider than a briefcase. It drew his attention like a magnet. It was as if it called to him. Reaching for the latch he'd open it to peer inside and find...

... a ball. A glass ball, to be more specific. Roughly the side of someone's head its surface looked murky; it looked like a ball of water and milk swirled together. Could this somehow be what was calling out to him? He stared at it intently and, for just a moment, he caught the sight of eyes staring back.

He nearly dropped the chest and crystal ball at the sudden sound of explosions rocking the Cove catching him off guard. Aiden had almost forgotten that he was there for a reason and not to sight see. Slamming the chest closed he would tuck it under his arm before moving from the room in search of more treasures while trying to push the uneasy thoughts from his mind.

---

Aiden lay in the middle of a makeshift raft not far from the Pirate's Cove waiting for a pick-up. Inside the raft were several crates full of various supplies and items he had managed to pilfer from the monkey men. Reaching into his pocket he removed a small scouter lent to him by one of Glacier's crew.

"Sneaking Snake to Soaring Eagle, come in Soaring Eagle."

I never agreed to that name. "

"What's wrong with Soaring Eagle, Hex? I thought it was fitting."

And I think you're nuts. I 'spect you be needin' a ride? Sit tight. We'll be there shortly. "

Aiden tossed the scouter aside and sat back against the edge of the raft, basking in the sun rising over the horizon. The feeling of a job well done settled his troubled mind. Still, he couldn't help but keep peeking over at that red chest tucked within the salvaged supplies. What had he stumbled across? More importantly, did he even want to know the answer?
