Good luck to all . Be safe and careful .

Dove Sept.1- Nov. 14, 2016; Dec. 26, 2016 - Jan. 9, 2017

If you want some nice jump shooting , hunting the edges of crop fields in the late season has put quite a few very fat doves in my vest . N.B. It is close shooting . If you have a 28 GA. loaded with 8's is a great gun . Light loads { ever wonder why they make them } is good for 20 and 12 GA guns , again in 8's .

Slowly walk the edges , they will jump before you see them , do not rush to shoot , they will give you time and may only fly a few yards at first jump . Pick your bird , bust them like quail . Watch where the singles and doubles go . The other thing they may do is fly out into middle of field , group up and go somewhere , it will not be far as they are conserving body fat . Watch where they land and give them an hour to calm down , repeat . N.B. 2 When done 2 days in a row they will leave and find somewhere else to be , just like Ducks and Geese .

Late season Field hunting ,
If you are lucky enough to have a field that has birds feeding , you hunt them as in early season . Decoys and a blind , YOU DO NEED SOME KINDA BLIND , they are like hunting Waterfowl as in they pay more attention to the field , just standing there , even still , will not work now . Let them make a few passes , don't rush your shot . They will work in even land right on top of the deeks . Again do not over shoot fields Apply usage rules as you would at your favorite Waterfowl hole .
