Well, the PLANS involve coming home with an elk! e522671 If that DOES happen, I won't need so much deer meat in the freezer. I have 3 gun tags, so it won't make sense to buy bow tags and try to kill any more. There's only 2 of us to feed. I can work some overtime or take a sleepy day. If I don't get an elk, 3 deer will pretty much top off what we need for meat. I've got 4 weekends to fill 3 tags. Normally not a problem.

Dave I wish you good luck on you elk hunt. If you would happen to get too much meat and have extra you can always give some away to your local church as with the economy the way it is there are many people who have a great need for the meat anymore. Just thought not only can you enjoy your hunts, but also give something back to those less fortunate then yourself. Just saying...........LOL

Thanks snod. It's more a matter of time. I process my own deer and it always seems like the first couple of weeks are too warm for me to hang a deer more than overnight. Working all day and them getting home to butcher takes me a while. (I'm pretty anal about how I butcher) I'll be heading out the 25th so it doesn't leave me much time to get one in the freezer only hunting weekends. The 1st weekend after I get home is gun season, so no bow hunting then. I'll be off work the week after Thanksgiving, so plenty of time to butcher any I kill the 1st season. Then the next one comes up for muzzleloader and my tag for it. Our youngest daughter has her tag, so maybe there would be 4 deer. If so, I have some folks at work that would love to have a deer. I've given a couple extras away in the past. Once gun seasons are done it's mid December and getting pretty cold. Buying bow tags and going out for the fun of it seems like a bit of a waste unless the freezer didn't get filled before that. Yes, I enjoy it, but I can also get some overtime on the weekend. During the week I don't have enough time to hunt after work. Never had too much luck bowhunting late in the year. We'll see what happens in Idaho first.

I wouldn't bet on that, it's supposed to drop down to the high 40's the next few nights, so I might have to hang my stand either tomorrow or friday~!

I've sat the past couple out, not because I wanted to but had to much going on to be able to get out. I was really wanting to last year, joined the hunting contest but couldn't get out. This year I'm back at it for sure.

TLC here in Missouri when you buy your Archery Deer Tags, you get TWO ANYDEER TAGS plus TWO TURKEY TAGS, also as many ANTLERLESS TAGS as you want, but thats just in some areas!

1 archery tag gives you an antlerless only and an either or tag. as many as you want to buy. statewide as long as they are open. cook county is not. turkey tag is $5.00.
