Well, the M27 IAR is an great multi-purpose gun for the support class,because it's good at close to mid range and can even be used for long ranges effectively with the bipod, and it is very much like an assault rifle.
For close quarters defending, the M249 w/ foregrip is a good choice.

I don't use the m27 much anymore but I know a lot of players do use it pretty often. I usually try to bipod my M249 or M240B because of the rate of fire and paired accuracy from the bipod. lately i'm finding the LSAT a great alternative

I prefer fast-shooting LMG's for some reason, maybe because i have played with them alot, thats why i feel the most comfortable with the m249 :D
i have played with all of the LMG's and the LSAT is actually quite good.

I like LMG's too but i cant really get into the LSAT it just does not feel right for me.

I like to use the m240,PKP and m60e4 but also sometimes the rpm
