A Sovereignty and a War
The Sovereignty and a War
By 2350 A.D, the colonization project between Earth, the Moon, Space, and Mars and its moons is considered complete, but development continues on. Many cities surround the Martian moons of Phobos and Deimos; there were even space stations for both security reasons and for public transportation between the Planets and their moons. The Earth was lifted of a strong burden, but something new was going to happen that would change the course of humanity. Those who know better have always taken into account the nature of humanities capacity for war. Be it to reign supreme over a country or to liberate a country from a wrongful leader, war has always been and will always be.
In 2356, a Martian council is formed to ensure a proper government was run and that order was kept. This council, led by Oscar Blake, soon come to a conclusion that it is time to leave Earth and allow it to heal. This plan is set in motion, but a few preemptive steps are triggered before the council’s end game can be achieved. Oscar Blake, on purpose, announces that Mars will become independent from Earth and that they would still be open to trade routes but not under the same banner. The U.N, back on Earth, reacts seriously to this declaration of independence and asks Oscar to explain himself.
Blake leaves them with an answer that was satisfactory enough, but still warranted investigation. The U.N enlists a space ship construction company for creation of a warship that is not publicly announced until the completion of this order in 2371. Ashton Shipyards unveil the Atacama Class attack corvette, a small but capable ship that would recon the Martian colonies and report back any findings. Little does the U.N know, however, that the Martian council had acquired a ship building company of their own and constructed a Rogan Class corvette of their own.
An Atacama corvette later approaches Mars, but is hailed by the newly formed Martian defense fleet. The U.N ship requests information on why Mars choose to go independent, but the fleet opens fire and heavily damages the U.N corvette. Unknown as to why the fleet opened fire, the U.N considers the Martian Government to be hostile and launches a campaign to liberate Mars. Both sides begin construction of new warships and even space fighters. By 2382 March 1st, the Martian Council announces its new name as the Sovereignty of Mars. The U.N also announces the formation of the United Space Defense Force, which later comes into a massive space fleet battle with the USDF’s 2nd defense fleet and the Sovereignty’s 1st Assault fleet.
The Martian Council announces its plan to the USDF, letting them know of the plan to force everyone into the colonies and to allow Earth the time in needs to heal from humanities pollution. The U.N response by saying their reason was not justified enough, but this sparked more tensions between the two powers as more fights broke out. By 2550, the area between Earth and Mars, even the colonies, became battle zones. The Colony Virgo had also been persuaded by the Sovereignty to ally themselves with Mars and the U.N now grows quite desperate to end this conflict before it gets out of control.
