Capital of the United States under the exclusive jurisdiction of the United States Congress and is therefore not a part of any U.S. state. The centers of all three branches of the federal government of the United States are in the District, including the Congress, President, and Supreme Court. Washington is home to many national monuments and museums, which are primarily situated on or around the National Mall. The city hosts 176 foreign embassies as well as the headquarters of many international organizations, lobbying groups, trade unions, non-profit organizations, and professional associations. It is also home to the Hall of Justice.

Situated on one of Earth's largest natural harbors, New York City consists of five boroughs, each of which is a county of New York State.

Metropolis is one of the largest cities in the State of New York and is one of the most populated urbanized settlements in the United States. From its humble beginnings, the city was formerly a thriving seaport that served as an integral strategic location for General George Washington's Continental Army during the days of the Revolutionary War. During the 19th century, mission workers led by the Luthor bloodline helped pave the way for the city's future through the productive steel industry. Metropolis earned both its name and moniker, the City of Tomorrow, through the efforts of scientific innovator Waldo Glenmorgan.

Gotham City is the largest and most populated city in the U.S. state of Connecticut. The birth of Gotham is one shrouded in mystery and mysticism. Formerly a major port known as Gotham Town, the city's foundation was laid out by the Wayne Family during the 19th century. By the century's end, Gotham became a bustling hub of industry. However, it also became a haven for crime, known more for its poverty, the squalidness of its slums and the utter corruption of its government. In the present day, crime and corruption had reached a significant height in Gotham in which it became immortally characterized as a dark foreboding metropolis.

Empire City is the largest city in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Divided into three islands, it is one of the nation's major air, shipping, and rail hubs. It is home to one of America's busiest airports and the largest container shipping terminal on the East Coast. Each of Empire City's islands contain a variety of neighborhoods ranging in character from bustling urban districts to quiet suburban enclaves. Empire City rivals Gotham as one of the nation's most crime ridden and corrupted settlements. Poverty remains a constant problem in Empire City despite multiple attempts at revitalization projects and affects roughly one third of its population.

Opal City is one of the largest and most progressive cities in the U.S. state of Maryland. It was founded during the 19th century by Burnley Ellsworth after he amassed a fortune from his mining operation in Australia. With this in mind he named the the city after the little gem stone that had brought him such prosperity. Opal City is particularly notable for several aspects of its unique architectural style, which is heavily influenced by its history dating back to early Puritan settlements on the eastern shores of North America under the name Port o'Souls. Its streets and lifestyle is often compared to that of Paris.

Salem is a city in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. It is a residential and tourist area which includes the neighborhoods of Salem Neck, The Point, South Salem and North Salem, Witchcraft Heights, Pickering Wharf, and the McIntire Historic District. During the early days of America, Salem was one of the country's most significant seaports. Much of the city's cultural identity is reflective of its role as the location of the Salem witch trials of 1692 in which its community pays homage to by adopting witch themed attractions, tourist sites, to even naming their neighborhoods, academic institutions, and local sports teams as such.

Ivy Town was formerly a small community settlement established by religious leaders across the Housatonic River in the U.S. state of Connecticut. By the 19th century, however, Ivy Town grew into one of the most flourishing industrial centers in all of New England. Following the birth of a strong scientific community, Ivy University was established and has remained one of the premiere scientific institutes in the United States, rivaled only by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Ivy Town's population often spikes during regular semesters due to a huge influx of undergraduate and graduate students attending Ivy University.

Happy Harbor is a small community settlement in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. Originally a small fishing village, it later thrived as a result of a number of oil reserves. Residents of Happy Harbor are known to be huge superhero fanatics when it was revealed that the fledgling Justice League first operated from the Secret Sanctuary within a large mountain later named Mount Justice. While the League eventually moved onto their satellite headquarters in Earth's orbit, Mount Justice later became residence to a younger superhero team some of whom were notable students at Happy Harbor's local educational institutions.
