According to her Twitter account, Emily has been packing for Spokane. Bet she's nervous and excited!

According to MKForum (take it for what it's worth), Emily made a bit of a faux pas yesterday by jumping in front of others to hit the practice ice before she was given the okay to go. Whoops.

I don't ever believe anything the MKforum says, nor do I dignify that disgusting place with a visit. Having said that, anyone can make a mistake. When is the first program? I'll watch it online. I'm nervous too. I really, really hope Emily does well. Whatever happens, she should just go out, perform the very best she can, feel confident, and hope for the best. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. |

The event starts tonight at 7:30. Here's the full schedule: LINKhttp://www.spokane2010.com/51,eventschedule According to ESPN, Emily is scheduled to go at 10:32: ESPN Linkhttp://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4843988&name=winterolympics I saw on a couple of message boards that Emily struggled mightily during yesterday's practice, falling twice. It seems several others (including Sasha) fell once but no one other than Em fell multiple times. According to MKForum (yeah, I know consider the source, again) one of Emily's falls looked rather painful. |

iI'm glad another member is at Nationals. I was at the practice yesterday. It's no secret that Emily likes to be first on the ice. But yesterday Caroline stood her ground and made sure she was first on the ice.It might be a skater's superstition. No biggie. Emily and Bonnie gave me a wave before the warmup. She looked very upbetand focused. For her run through she did her long program, Gone With The Wind. She has a true edge on her lutz, a good double axel beautiful spins. I didn't count the turns or elements in her footwork, but it was at least a level 2. And as reported, I saw that she had problems with her jumps. I counted three falls. When she went back to the boards to consult with Bonnie, she was visibly upset and Boni looked concerned, naturally. Unless Emily has an undisclosed injury, I wouldn't worry about the falls. It's likely that she will have a good skate in the competition. And yes Sasha had a fall, Alissa had several falls, Caroline and Mirai fell, and Samantha fell. Rachael and Bebe were clean. |

So who all is at Nationals? If by chance anyone happens to get a Sasha Cohen autograph on something nice like a photo or program... I have some Emily ones I could trade for it. Mostly because I have a few of Emily but none of Sasha. I kind of doubt Sasha will be signing, but who knows.Emily is first in the last group, on the ice now! |

As I thought, she left her problems on the practice ice and delivered a very good program. Doubled the lutz, durn it. But landed a beautiful 3F/2T- lots of GOEs there probably. She is now in 8th place, but I believe she will move into the top 6 after the FS. Go Emily. |

Emily had a pretty good practice session yesterday. Of course she made sure that she was the first one on the ice. She started out a bit off, but got stronger later in the session. She's seen her protocol http://www.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2010/64740/results.html so she knows what she has to do to move up. The double lutz really hurt her overall. Her family is here to support her. Rebecca flew in yesterday and we talked about the possibilities for Emily's LP. We both agreed that she will undoubtedly move up in the standings as her jumps and spins looked really strong. I'm sending good vibes out to her to have a strong finish. |

Well, it wasn't meant to be, but I think Emily should be satisfied with the fact that she gave it a solid try. Heaven knows that she was the most beautiful girl on the ice tonight, and that red dress was gorgeous. I just love watching her skate, but I feel bad about the falls. The worst things in life are the "What ifs?" and if she hadn't made the attempt, she would have forever been pondering that question. This gives her peace, in that regard. It's a shame that, as recent articles have indicated, she started this comeback from so far behind in the first place. She had to get back to a championship level in a very short period of time. If there IS a "What if?" in all of this, it's "What if she'd kept skating and put off college until now?" I don't think many skaters realize just how difficult a university program is until they're in the midst of it. It's not like high school! For my part, I couldn't even keep a job while doing my M.A. It demanded all of my attention. Getting up at the crack of dawn to be at the rink, then going to classes? I can't imagine it. I continue to wish Emily well, and I love watching her perform, far more than I do any other skater. |

I'm sure she'll always have to wonder about "What if?" regardless of what she goes on to do. Heck, anytime she sees Sarah's gold medal, she'll probably ask "What if?" to herself. That's just how it goes. Obviously, in many cases, life doesn't include Olympic gold. No shame in that. I'm sure Emily wished she hadn't suffered those falls and I'm sure she'll question why she didn't come back earlier. Perhaps more time would have resulted in an Olympic bid...but then again, maybe not. I wish her the best in any field she enters. I assume her next step is returning to Harvard in the fall, right?
