Those are some really good pictures. You know what I just thought of? If Sarah didn't retire and she still competed today she'd be against Emily... hmm.. that would be interesting. |

Sarah vs. Emily would be interesting, but I think Sarah is happier at the moment just to wear her Olympic Gold, and cheer her sister from the stands. She's gained some significant weight too.
Not a slam, just a fact. That's actually a concern from the standpoint of her being able to skate in SOI and make money for herself that way. Let alone serious competition. Staying in skating form and putting in the work necessary to win... that takes serious discipline, sacrifice, and drive. How many OGM'ers truly stayed in the game? None of the last 3 at least. And let's be honest... Sarah got lucky that night. I'm not saying she wasn't a top-level skater, but she hadn't yet had a big winning track record, and to quote her after the skate: "I've never skated so well in my life!" That combined with an unprecedented(?) tie-breaking result for the finish, to give her gold. Of course she deserves the medal... and an upset for Olympic Gold is almost common... I'm just saying, there's no objective reason to believe she could ever reach that kind of peak again, or really even close. So anyway. After offending the Sarah fans... ... imagine this fantasy scenario:Sarah Hughes and Emily Hughes vs. Mai Asada and Mao Asada! US versus Japan in a showdown of sisterly proportions! B) I'm almost scaring myself with the parallels here. |

lol that would be quite the showdown! I think that the Asada sisters have the edge right now though. But it would be fun to see!

Yes, those Japanese girls for some reason are really able to win the points. Still can't believe we were shut out of the Grand Prix Final... Even with Sarah at her best, I'm sad to say we'd be somewhat disadvantaged, points-wise. But anything can still happen, and it would be close enough for a reasonable match. Not to mention fun. |
