While not everything is ready yet, I felt it would be a good idea to give handlers an idea of what the general populace of the nations look like so you can get your concepts prepared. Any questions you have about anything are welcome. Sannref Sannref: The majority of Sannref's population are not it's native people, officially. The major numbers rely on the large Baltha Prison Colony and those living on the outskirts of the nation, raising wyvern livestock and trying their best to avoid the war. The nomadic Drago-people, are the true people of the land. The drago-people, same as the beast-men, are of mostly humanoid appearance but with blindingly obvious characteristics fitting towards their name-sake. They often have elongated ears and fangs, strange hair, skin, and iris colors, with scales of similar hue across their spines, jaws, and temples most commonly. The harsh cold weather is not much of a concern due to their fire-breathing abilities and having hundreds of years to learn to live suitably. There lifespans are considerably longer then any human, up to 400 or so years at most. It's always an odd site to see a Drago-man outside of Sannref, but not exactly a rare occurrence. Those in their mere one-hundreds often set out on pilgrimages to explore the rest of their world, and some even decide they have made new homes, wherever that may be. Strangely enough, Drago-people are often stereotyped as disliking wyverns, though how true that is varies. National Colors: N/A Leader: Sannref has no set leader, but the mostly commonly called upon power is The High Judge of the Baltha Prison Colony - Levona Hastertoph, a woman respected by all those in law enforcement and the greatest authority in it. A blunt and shrewd old woman, Levona is mostly unconcerned with the outside world, but has earned her place as the pinnacle of justice nonetheless. She has her own personal courtoom inside the prison colony where inmates can leer at the defendant of the day, and makes sure they are properly terrified. If they are guilty, it is ensured they will be on their best behavior. If they are innocent, Levona never suspects to see them again. Dialect and Common Phrases: "Where shall thou be leaving for this evening?" "Tis not proper to leave one's meal unfinished, child." "Begone from this area, you filthy winged snake!" Zwaperlend Zwaperlend: Zwaperlend is one of the more culturally diverse nations, even outside human races, with a leaning towards the fair haired and skinned. Because of this, it's often said it has no real culture of it's own by other nations and some Zwaperlendians themselves, and that what culture it has depends on what street you're on. While this holds some truth, the Zwaperlend people still have their own traditions unique to them. For example, Wyvern races across cities have become the spectator sport as well as common training for the Wyvern Air Forces. The cities themselves are held in high regard as well, since most of the buildings are astounding tall and dark skyscrapers that house many families. Their high respect for their current dictator is often noted as well, where as most people would be uncomfortable with one man leading an entire nation, Man Jon has earned nothing but admiration and trust from his people. National Colors: Cream and White Leader: Jon Horowitz, called the humble title of Man Jon by his people, had been heavily involved in politics even before he was called to be the leader of Zwaperlend. Originally just a high adviser to many past leaders of Zwaperlend, Jon retired himself to a small Wyvern ranch when he deemed himself too old to be a valuable adviser anymore. From his ranch, Jon saw as his homeland was in turmoil and nobody wanting to care for it. As he was one of the few capable, Jon took to power as soon as he was asked and brought Zwaperlend back to prosperity. Now with people wanting answers to the assassination accusations and the war continuing on, Jon mostly wonders how his daughter is doing holding up the ranch for him. Dialect and Common Phrases: "You betcha I wanna go see the wyvern race. Who else are we going with?" "Ey, Dontcha know about the new dragon girl in town? Her bakery has the best pies." "Yah, child, you better wake up before you miss the wyvern ride for school!" Kimojen Kimojen: Black skin and broad facial features are the common aspects of a Kimojen. The concept of togetherness has been an integral part of Kimojen long before it was even called that. The tradition of this nation being labeled according to it's current rulers name has been in place since the beginning, and the confusion this causes for other nations at times is treated as a minor consequence. If a nation was embarrassed to be named after it's leader, what would that say about the nation? Kimojen's are taught to treat everybody in the community as they were family, and to trust all of their neighbors. Doors often go unlocked and left wide open when the owner leaves, and is seen as suspicious at worst and impolite at best when it's not in practice. Kimojen are open and honest with each other, whether for better or worse, and often try to be optimistic about all things and people. This is why the more militant and strict regimens enforced by Prince Kimojen and his men has been accepted so well: Not necessarily for their respect for the Prince, but because they care about him. National Colors: Red, Blue, and Yellow Leader: Prince Kimojen, son of the since deceased King Machart, has been seated at the throne since he was 14 years old and ever since the war started. He swears by his own two eyes that he saw a Wyvern rider fly away from his castle once the King was found dead. Now, he steadfastly preaches that Zwaperland's leader sent an assassin after his father, and still holds that belief 16 years after it. He travels across his land, giving impassioned speeches and training with his army, not afraid to charge into battle himself. Dialect and Common Phrases: "We'll tell you just how the way things are, but we don't mean to offend." "If you're hiding something, it must be bad." "We wouldn't hide anything from you." Paichtal Paichtal: Rosy cheeked and freckled, the people of Paichtal have lived a blessed life, even if only in comparison. With enough luck, Paichtal had somehow managed to avoid the brunt of problems the recession brought, and recovered quite swiftly. Their schools are top notch, and Marianya's College of Sorcery is reputed to be the best in the country. That said, for all their brilliant wizards and intellectuals, Marianya has produced many a mad mage, often blamed for it's notoriously strict teaching and disciplinary methods. Education, social status, and magic power are reveled highly in Paichtal, and if you're not working on improving one, you're wasting your life. This has made Paichtal's people come off as profound and highly elitist. Allied with Kimojen due to an old promise between lords, there has been a lot of cynical judgements made about the war, not all of them unfair. National Colors: Red, White, and Blue. Leader: Curiosity verbose and a mind with no match, King Jethro made his way to the throne through political intrigue and his own wit. This did not translate well into actually running a nation, as natural talent was not enough to hide the mistakes that angered his people, often over-thinking and contemplating problems without fixing them. With the mentoring of King Machart, Jethro was able to be a competent leader, if still a worrywart. Does make it all the more peculiar of how he's so steadfast on being Kimojen's ally... Dialect and Common Phrases: "Your reports from the academy have been nothing but excellent. Pray, however, that they do not expect variance..." "Why are you laying about? It is most unlikely that you will be nothing more then a derelict if you don't change your course in life." "Words such as settled and carefree should have no place in your vocabulary, and the people aptly described by them have no place in our society." Camierno Camierno: Once a nation that could be identical to any other, Camierno has fallen into possibly their lowest point. Olive skinned with strong features and smouldering black eyes and hair is the common appearance of a Camierno, though even the palest of them have been darkened by dirt and soot. Camiernos are a community of thieves and bandits, but without the fanatical notion of honor to boot. Any kind of honest work can mostly be found in the chimney sweeps, coal mines, and most recently, as a mercenary. In a place like this, the only way to get by is to adopt an attitude full of self-assurance and some kind of purpose in life. Prevalent it this attitude in Camierno's children, only to surely wain as they mature and see the reality of life, but keeping up a tough facade is also a sacred tradition. National Colors: Orange and Gold. Leader: Inherited an already desolate kingdom, Lord Myron has become increasingly frustrated in trying to fix Camierno. With an increasingly apathetic court, Myron himself has become an angrier and troubled man. While neither he or his laws are respected by the people, Myron can become a horrifying tyrant should he feel it's become too much. Now dubbed as Moody Myron, the frantic Lord is starting to become attached to people actually listening too him, even if it is out of fear. Dialect and Common Phrases: "Ya ever think what we're suppose to do here, like, with life?...Nah, nevermind, it's probably something stupid." "Hey Ma, I snuck...got some candy from the store for the kids. Also, they're not letting me back at the store anymore." "We can jump that guy ove- oh wow, you are really huge up close...did you hear wh- OH FUCK MY EYE." Uwanye Uwanye: Light tan skin with hardy and calmed eyes, The Uwanye people have fond roots in living off the land, whether that be hunting, farming, or making crafts from natural materials. This has given them a, literally and figuratively, down-to-earth reputation and a beloved place in every merchant's heart. It wasn't always like this however. Way back when, the Uwanye almost drove the people of Rar'vixa, the Beast-men, into extinction by poaching and game-hunting before being driven off by Zwaperlend rescue forces. After so mant years, this historical guilt had built up inside the Uwanye people, and the majority have turned to a less violent lifestyle and practicing vegetarianism. The war has done no favors for this guilt, as it puts them in a position to help those they have wronged but whose beliefs they do not share, side with those who seem to be wronged, or to stay neutral for as long as they can, earning ire from both sides. Nations Colors: Green and Sky-blue. Leader: The Chief Power, his original name long since thrown away and forgotten, is an enigma to everyone. Rarely has anyone but those within arms reach spoken to him, and he mostly talks through his most trusted guards and friends. Still, they will defend him without a single thought otherwise, so he remains where he is. Dialect and common phrases: "Remember to breathe. It might seem silly to say, but it helps, I promise." "To forgive and forget is easier when you're the one wronged." "Always spoil those you love after you tease them. You'd wish to be kinder to them once they're gone..." Rar'vixa Rar'vixa: The land of the beast-men is a divided one. They all share the history of being oppressed, feared, and hunted, but have fallen out into four races and tribes: The Kotka, Hondus, Ranbaem, and The Tuzi. This is due to the struggle for the rights of both power and resources, and general conduct about what should be done about the land. With plenty of tension to go around, the Zwaperland forces stationed in Rar'vixa have also adopted a more argumentative attitude. Filled to the brim with living life in the rough wild and an instinctual combative nature, the life expectancy of a beast-man is short, ranging from 42 to 50 years. Even that is shortened considerably if you are considered "feral", strikingly more beast than man, as feral beast-men are dangerously unaware of their surroundings and are unfit to care for themselves. This has made development of the mind a practical interest if nothing else, and as such, books have become a treasure of sorts, especially Rar'vixa mythos and instructional manuals. National colors, leaders, and dialect and common phrases: More info this post. Kholcarkhah Kholcarkhah: The swarthy, warm skin of Kholcarkhah's compliment their desert home well. Kholcarkhah is a rather unforgiving place, in terms of both weather and law. Stricter with the rules in place and the only nation truly free of alcohol consumption, the punishments are definitely severe and disproportionate. Most opt to serve in the military to avoid further conviction, usually serving as fodder for the Coveted griffin knights in whatever battle they're in. It's noteworthy that Kholcarkhah is the only nation with no residents at the Baltha Prison colony, though it's argued this is because Kholcarkhah is more confident in it's own justice system rather then The High Judge's. It's citizen's are rather short on patience and stoic because of this, projecting an aura of wanting to start a fight but an attitude to be the one to break up said fight. Searching for an outlet, Kholcarkah's are generally talented musicians, dancers, and various other types of performers. National Colors: Purple and Orange. Leaders: Sultan Syam is a calm ________________ and ________________________________________________ who would never ______________________________________ but why _______________________________________________ can't allow ________________________________________________ Dialect and Common Phrases: "Alcohol is poison for the body. Delicious, bitter poison." "That griffon has been looking at me funny. I think it can smell the bacon." "Ah, a shade of pink feels right today." Gulaong Gulaong: Raven hair complimented by skin that ranges from a medium golden color to straight ivory, Gaulong's are known for keeping up appearances. Beauty is very important to them, as is anything associated with it. This encompasses things such as romance, art,...and science. True, Gualong is more thought of a place of serene philosophy, but it has also placed itself in the war. War shares a spot with the finer things in life to the Gualong's, only those of favored houses and bloodlines to enlist in the army, as they are deemed the only ones worthy. Those standards have dropped from Nobility to anyone with a stable job, but they still pertain for the best. Perhaps this is why so many have chosen to abandon Gaulong, whether not wanting pity or their honor forsaken. Now noble and peasant alike can be seen pillaging villages. Those who have chosen to stay are worried for their own reputation, as the Empress seems careless about the Nation's. National Colors: Red and Black Leader: Young, exuberant, and way over her head. Her father passing away from illness and her mother to heartbreak, Empress Quni is overwhelmed despite what her cheery demeanor might tell. She seems irresponsible and thoughtless at first glance, but has actually worked quite hard for her people to get them in a good position to formally join the war. Not that it's helped at all, but she's trying. Sending off her men to the most opportune position has made her untrustworthy to the other nations, a notion that entirely has it's justifications. Dialect and Common Phrases: "I feel good today. You know what that means, do you not? Shopping spreeeeeeeeeeee!" "Mmmmm. Pi styled Pie. You can taste the meticulous calculation with every bite." "Noooo, don't let anyone see me yet! I'm still in my morning armor." Tacertius Tacertius: Tacertius is small in size compared to any other nation, but is perhaps held over all in importance. The holy land for many followers of the Absolute Being has to be the only nation no one expects to be involved in any war effort. However, it is being highly chased after for answers from the more despaired nations, to which their has been few. Still, there is no better place for one to go under a spiritual venture, whether to learn the healing arts as an acolyte or to be a traveling paragon as a hospitaller. Oddly enough, it's also quite adept at giving martial arts training, and the Pontifex has been known to come to a dojo more often then a monk sect. Similar to Sannref, it's natives are actually the minority, but their pious and restful demeanor attracts others of similar silk and those of religious wonderment and doubt. National Colors: Violet and Yellow Leader: The story of Pontifex Raymond is one of a child's story, mundane but inspiring. A studious and devout boy, Raymond had always dreamed of being a teacher, and tried to learn to everything he could. This included martial arts, medicine, philosophy, and theology. Raymond has gone from being the most poignant nay-sayer to the most zealous of fanatics, and this past behavior makes him question his position as he grows ripe in age. Still, he feels that even though he can never stop learning, he shouldn't waste the questioning of his pupils, and researches inside himself and the outside world to find the truth. Dialect and Common Phrases: "In dire times, people will either latch onto a belief or cast it aside." "Doubt goes hand in hand with faith." "Faithful as you might be, there's no excuse for that hellishly awful haircut..." Pixies Pixies are a strange race. Coming in from anywhere of five to nine inches tall and human in appearance but with butterfly-esque wings, their history is poorly documented and forgotten by their own people. This doesn't seem to bother the Pixies very much, but frustrates any historian and scholar. A vagrant race, Pixies are known to crop up in any place they see fit, but have taken a liking to Uwanye and Tacertius the most. While the most naturally adept at magic of all kinds, Pixies go after anything they see fit, and some have gone from being a spy to a simple shopkeep.

The Beast-Men tribes will be listed here, as trying to write everything about it would have been too long and messy for the original post. Without further ado: Kotka The Kotka: The kotka have pinched faces, piercing eyes, and the matching ears, nails, and tail in tune with their feline attributes. Agile and cunning, Kotkan tend to stay away from fighting if they can, but with their night vision and natural reflexes, they can become excellent predators in the dark. They're also very lazy, and tend to sleep longer then most other races. They're also notorious for their hatred of the cold and swimming. Tribal Colors: Green and Orange Leader: Mautet is the frivolous and tricky leader of the Kotka, and always sports a sly smile on her face, making her true intentions hard to guess. Dialect and Common Phrases: "Purrrfect, now is the time for a nap." "Why must we be up so early? It's only sundown." "If you continue to spritz me with water, I cannot be held accountable for my future actions." The Hondus The Hondus: The Hondus are, for lack of a better phrase, a wolf pack in more ways then one. Their droopy expressions and fluffy tails hide their loyal and protective nature for their family and friends. Their keen senses and instincts make them reliable trackers. They're the most commonly feral. National Colors: Black and White Leaders: Murphy doesn't seem like the kind of guy that should be leading a pack of people, and that's because he isn't. He prefers to just be one of the boys who's more concerned about attending his kids and fixing himself a meal. The biggest and strongest around, though, has made him the only one the other Hondus will listen to. Dialect and Common Phrases: "Look, just scratch behind my ear, and things don't need to get weird." "Naw, we're not fighting, it's just roughhousing...nevermind the blood." "Oh shit, you left my sight for five seconds and I thought you were gone forever...uh, don't do that again." Ranbaem The Ranbaem: The Ranbaemian people are distinct looking, even in comparison to the other beast-men. The front half of their body is pallid and as soft as any humans, decorated by yellow pupils and a forked tongue. The back half is rough, scaly, and either a dark brown of a vibrant green in color, such as a snakeskin. They have made an art out of lying and merchant work, the two skills benefiting from one another. Naturally resilient to most poisons and disease. National Colors: Green and Brown Leaders: Sonn-Sune, or Sonny as everybody calls him behind his back, is the begrudging but competent leader of the the Ranbaem. Decidedly honest to get the other nations and tribe leaders to even listen to him, Sonny has lost a lot of love but gained more then enough faith from his people. Dialect and Common Phrases: "Ssssuspicous...just the way I like it." "Hoho, expecting me to die were you? Sssso sssorry, but I must commend you on your toxin brewing." "I would confess to my crimes, but I fear that'd be bad for my health...ahaha." The Tuiz The Tuiz: The Tuiz are diminutive but swift figures, with fuzzy nobs for tails and elongated bunny ears susceptible to piercing and other modifications. The most populous of the beast-men tribes, in both the war and outside of it, there isn't a single "only child" among The Tuiz, and as such they can get very lonely but work well in groups. National Colors: Pink and Purple Leader: A timid lady with many heirs, Lady Conji is probably the most questionable leader of the tribes. She doesn't really explain her reasoning on the things she does, and while she hasn't put the Tuzi in immediate danger yet, she seems...off. Dialect and Common Phrases: "Getting to the hop of bed, we wake at early time!" "I feel very not comfortable with the being alone in the dark that is creepy." "One of medical profession, what is upping, nyeh?" |
