So, it's really starting to become obvious that the server is really really dead guys. Is there anything we can do, on your suggestion, that would make the server more active? We've lost a significant amount of regular players, and I really don't want it to come to the server having to close because we can't justify the costs. So PLEASE give us some input, or even just start putting out the word for the server. |

All I can think to do is aggressively recruit. I still do a little myself every few days, in bursts of two to six attempts each time ... but I'm just one person. Drawing up a detailed how-to guide on recruiting and asking everyone to pitch in a bit might show better returns. Even if only a few members take us up on it, it would still be several times more effective than what staff can achieve alone. At least in theory. Another thing I've noticed, too, is that if there's one or two people online to greet new players when they log on (and maybe chat a little) they're much more likely to stay permanently. You can't always predict when a new player will first drop in, of course, but if you notice their application soon after they make it and approve it relatively quickly you can usually catch them. Edit: God damn it! This is Skippy, forgetting to switch forum accounts before posting again. Let's just pretend that's my icon over there.

There we go! Anyway, another thing I've noticed is that people tend to be charmed when the person who recruited them is also the person who welcomes them on board - just another good reason to log on to the server before you whitelist. I imagine it's because seeing that the staff actively play can be reassuring, for many reasons, and that a personal greeting makes new players feel recognized if you follow me (and therefore counted as community members). That's just a personal theory of mine, however. YMMV. |

In my opinion, what makes Envisage great is the community. Getting greeted by server members was pretty cool. What made me stop playing was the fact I just wasn't interested in Minecraft any more. After awhile the game, to me, felt tedious. Gather materials, build stuff, cave, and rinse and repeat. While I don't have a solution to the dead server issue. I presented my "problems", if you can even call it that, with Minecraft. Those problems would be lack of players, and Minecraft just felt tedious to me. |

Unfortunately the "tediousness" isn't something we can fix. the lack of players is what we're trying to fix though. |

Besides recruiting a revamp of the spawn might help, it doesn't have to be a colossal creative-build monstrosity, but the bleak mesa (with mobs roaming around) isn't exactly welcoming. Something a little bit more fancy, where you spawn in the room with guides/rules nearby community/donated chests? |
