Grizzly Bear - Ursus arctos![]() Postosuchus kirkpatricki ![]() PS.: The quadrupedal stance is inaccurate, just thought this would be a good image.

This is a good image.![]() Anyway, the bear has its jaws and its forelimbs (more versatile than the Postosuchus') as weapons here. Its claws are bigger than the only ones Postosuchus may have on each of its manus (though, the reptile's are going to be sharper, given the bear's claws are worn down by the ground from walking, whereas the rauisuchian's forelimbs don't even touch the ground in the first place). I also wouldn't be surprised if the mammal also possessed a stamina advantage. On the other hand, Postosuchus IMO has the better bite and could also possibly make use of its forelimbs as well, though likely not as versatile (according to Peyer et al. (2008), each manus had a large claw on one digit and the forelimbs were described as robust and the pectoral girdle thick). Postosuchus also has better body protection, as bone armor likely covered in keratin>>fur and fat. So while I can see the grizzly penetrating the armor if it really tried, I can see Postosuchus injuring the bear with more ease. I think this could likely go either way, but if I had to choose, I would likely give a minuscule advantage to Postosuchus. |

Thanks! I edited the OP and added the image, indeed a beautiful piece of art and a pretty accurate one at that. ![]() It could be hard to penetrate its armor, but just like you said, I also do believe the Bear can penetrate it if it really tried, seeing as they have fairly strong bites. |
