I favor the Tyrannosaurus rex. Even though I'd probably favor any large theropod with fair-enough weapons against an African elephant, of all the theropods in this particular weight range, I think it's safe to say T.rex probably has the best set of weapons for a head-on encounter for an animal such as an elephant (theropod on Carnivora stated biting the head and controlling it, and I can sort of understand that, though that is dangerous). That big head and those huge neck muscles are pretty good tools for this type of encounter. Plus, the tyrannosaurid, like all theropods, can likely just attempt to outflank the proboscidean and attack from there. Anyone like to make a size comparison? Edited by Ausar, Jun 21 2014, 09:05 PM.

I can agree that the theropod wins this more often than not, but the Elephant wouldn't be an easy foe. If we used similar weights, an aggressive Elephant could be pretty dangerous. The way male Elephants fight eachother is just brutal, and shows how powerful they are, so I can safely assume the Elephant could win part of the time. As for the comparison, I'll make one later, then edit this post when I do so. |
