You are such a killjoy
Grumping from the rushing waves, a deep green head poked out past the surf, eyes wide and bright as she slid from wave to wave. The sensation of the water flowing about her lithe form and pushing her towards the shore, only to be in vain as she swam deeper, was an exhilerating feeling to Belluask. Her body was, after all, far more suited for that of the water or air than it was in the land, and the only reason she had the chance to partake in the small treat was because she had all but dragged her rider out to the small beach. And much to his displeasure, shown by the way he huffed as he stayed curled up beneath a wide leafed palm, staring balefully out at the waves with his red rimmed blue eyes, his soggy jacket stubbornly clutched around his shoulders despite the heat.
"Go get charred." He snarled back as he heaved his body up, flashing his drer a rather rude sign, only to give a frustrated howl as she bugled from the water, opening her wings and sending a cascade of water in his direction. But if the boy saw, he gave no reaction, other than to huff in frustration and kick the sand by his feet before lurching off to a more inland area. Today had not been a good day, in the grand scheme of things. First he had been put on tool duty fixing some of the cooks untincils, that alone was not a hard task, but the sheer fact that they made him do it where everyone was centered around in the kitchens had made it nigh impossible. So once he had claimed a corner for his own, screaming children not only interrupted his conversation but likewise nearly sent his entire system to the stars and back as they came tearing through. So after he had nearly freaked out on them, he finished his job as quickly as possible, then stormed off without a word.
That's when Belluask had found him, lurking towards his cabin and snarling beneath his breath, promptly deciding that he needed to cool off then and there, and had plucked him up and flown him to the north shore, only to send him flailing into the water. So that left him where he was currently, wrapped up in soggy clothes and shivering despite the heat, Three flicking out from between and giving an excited trill, flashing him some image he shoved right back out of his mind as she flailed about his head. Conciaves didn't have patience for her, and instead found himself shedding his coat only to hang it upon a nearby tree.
"Go away, Three." He soon had to huff as the dragonet perched upon his shoulder, small claws gripping into his sopping tunic as she cooed delightedly into his ear. "I don't want to hear it." He finally groaned, ignoring the way she chattered and chirped, babbling something in his head about more people coming. It was an island, people were everywhere and he couldn't get away from them. Deal with it.

Enthen tilted, sending the oblong board into an oncoming wave only to quickly correct, perched on top of it as it curled both towards and along the fairly distant shore. To his left, he could see the cliffs that surrounded the north beach reaching out into the ocean, but they were still out of his path, so he ignored them, focusing on the more immediate danger that was the thrilling waves and treacherous currents, aka his wife and mistress. He love the sea and he loved wave-riding, even if few people had thought about trying it.
Beautiful day, eh Selim? he called, nudging the sluggish mind of his blue.
Only to you, came the gruff retort from the shoreline. Enthen laughed out loud, swerving through a swell. The drer had a point; the wet season was his favorite, for while there wasn’t much change on the island, the sea was more than affected. The waves were larger and more dangerous, reflecting the power of the frequent storms. And for him, that was all the more fun.
You could have flown, Selim. I’d have met you at the beach.
I’d prefer not to meet your corpse, thank you very much.
I don’t fall that often…
No, not at all.
He ignored the blue’s sarcasm, circling around the cliff point that separated the beach from the sea. At the same moment that he rounded it, a large swell came rushing at him, sweeping him up as he turned the point beachward. Once the spray mellowed, Enthen’s tall form could be seen, balanced atop the board, arched so that his entire body became the rudder. To save his pride, he had to ride this one all the way to the shore. He couldn’t let Selimesk be right all the time.
He wasn’t expecting to have a green drer suddenly appear in front of him.
His body shifted backwards, bringing the nose of the board out of the water, and he pushed all his strength to turn it, the tip passing just over and to the side of the green’s head. “Not a word!” he bellowed as the board went flying forward and he toppled backwards into the surf.
The water closed over his head and he resisted the urge to panic, kicking periodically as the current buffeted him around, carrying him the long distance to the shore. Once his feet touched sand, he shot upright, filling his lungs with desperately needed air. Choking, he staggered onto the beach, looking around blearily for his board.
No, you hardly ever fall, Selimesk drawled, settling into the sand, far from the water, and turning a curious gaze on the man who shared his refuge.
“Shut up,” Enthen growled, pushing his wet hair off his face, and slamming the fin of the board into the sand. His eyes stared at the swimming drer that had wrecked him, before turning inland, searching for what the blue had already found.

Belluask had not been expecting the sudden burst of human near her neck, nor the sudden outburst of the man. In fact, it happened to startle her, eyes flicking from green to orange as she watched the trail of the human as he slid headfirst into the water, his silly little flat stick following him. She had seen those things around the island a few times, but rarely on the north beach where the pull of the waves was strong in some places, usually it was closer to the camp and closer to people, she supposed for the reason of there being a closer advantage to the protective force of more numbers than the sparse few that came this way.
But either way she snorted a salty spray from her nostrils and twisted her long body, tail flicking in the water to push her entire form forward with the ease of one of the dolphins she sometimes saw. The human apparently made it to shore just fine, as he was sputtering and flailing as he gathered himself and drug his flat-stick-riding-thing up onto the sand, with her own body soon following close behind, snuffling at him with her eyes melding back from surprise to contented curiosity.
Tell me, Human. What is it you're doing in the water with that flatstick? Belluask soon huffed into his mind, not caring that she may have come off as abrasive, she was curious, was all, and she wanted answers. And sans finding a flatstick her size, she wouldn't get her answers any other way.
Conciaves, however, seemed to have a different idea and came from the secluded shade with a dark scowl painted on his face. First his eyes locked on Bella, then to the man and finally off to the side for the blue drer. But he did growl after a long moment, snorting quietly as he crossed his arms, marching up to the green to give her tail a rather rough looking yank.
"Leave him alone, Bella." He growled, ignoring the way his dragonet fluttered on his shoulder, desperately trying to get a better look at the new man.
