Short bursts of heavy rain. Clouds form quickly and clear quickly. No sign of

((I know the bio's a bit rough. The words just didn't want to come out in sync with the picture in my head. Let me know if you want anything changed))
Kagirinai_Eternal's Character Application Form* Your Nickname: Kagi, Eternal, Siv How did you find us?: Exclusive Invitation Character Number: 4th
Kanana'e
Name: Kanana'e Age: 18...ish Gender: Female Sexuality: Heterosexual Rank: Archer, hunter, sentry, raider
Appearance: Kanana'e is small and slight, but has the lean, toned hardness of one who's lived a life of hard work and hardships. Though she is relatively tiny in build, she's stronger than a lot of the village men, and is granted superior agility from her diminutive stature. Of course, it's natural that those with less weight move faster.
Kana's body lacks the femininity of some of the other village women, but for a girl who until recently went with little or no clothing, the curves she does have do not go unnoticed. Now, even with a loose tunic to hide her modesty, she still gives of an exotic sensuality that lures the occasional man to his bloody demise.
Still, Kana seems to have been designed to hide. All of the clothing she would accept bore natural hues that blend into the jungle foliage, as that is her chosen place of residence and primary location. Her fair skin, hidden from the damaging sun by thick canopies, matches most of the sands, and her narrow eyes that are sharp as a hawk's are the color of vibrant wood. Even her long, surprisingly well-kept hair, though naturally being pale, platinum blond, has adopted a permanent green tint from the herbal pastes she massages into it.
Quick Personality: Quiet, Aggressive, Loyal, Mistrustful, Feral, Courageous, Hydrophobic
Extended Personality: Feral - Kanana'e has lived most of her life alone in the jungle with very little exposure to people. Having only obtained scattered bits and pieces of education and domestication, she is the quintessential "wild child", easily more at home among the plants and animals than other human beings. This discomfort shows, as she becomes agitated more easily when she is thrust into a social situation and can lash out physically when she feels threatened.
Mistrustful - Humans are a threat. That is the lesson her experiences have taught her, and one she will be hard-pressed to forget. While some seem to be ok, she still keeps a cautious distance, never truly accepting anyone into her life.
Quiet - Between having trust issues and being raised far from anything resembling civilization, it is only natural that Kanana'e rarely speaks. Sometimes this is because she simply does not wish to, but more often, it is because she does not know the words needed to express her feelings. When she has to communicate, she usually does so with picture relays she feeds through her dragonets.
Loyal - Wild and wary though she may be, Kanana'e is extremely loyal to those who prove themselves to her, though that number is few. Kindness seems to be the best way to win her favor, as she will quickly dispatch anyone who turns cruelty towards her. Her growing loyalty to the people of Refuge Island gives her the strength to remain among them, helping to protect them from harm.
Aggressive - This is probably Kanana'e's single truly negative trait, as she is prone to lash out when threatened. She has no qualms about maiming or even killing someone who seeks to hurt her, and has ended many lives in her years before ending up on Refuge Island. Still, this seems to only manifest when she perceives danger to herself or those she cares about. She's more disciplined since she came to the island, and hasn't killed anyone, though several rougher individuals have found themselves as temporary residents in the Healer's Hut after having wronged Kanana'e.
Courageous - Kanana'e is probably the most fearless individual on the face of Pern. Very little even rattles her and she can face a band of cutthroat exiles or the angry fangs of roaming felines without batting an eye.
Hydrophobic - The one thing Kanana'e really and truly fears is water. Anything more than ankle deep, and she will freak out like a rabid chimp, often injuring anybody who is nearby. Rain doesn't seem to bother her too much unless it pools up, but she avoids the ocean like it was eyeing her for breakfast.
Biography/History: Kanana'e was born with the promise of a normal, happy life, free from war and pain. What she got, however, was confusion and tragedy. She was still a child when Thread fell and Landing was lost, crossing to the north with her mother and father. It was that fateful ship voyage that completed the upending of her young life.
A storm caught the ships, tossing them around like toys in a bath. Being nosy, Kana had crept up to the deck to watch the waves. She never expected one to sweep her up and dump her in the ocean, but it did. The last thing she remembered was screaming for her mother before waking up on a strange beach.
The girl soon learned that she was trapped on an island, unsure of where the others were or how to reach them. She was completely alone. Luckily, her parents had both been paranoiac survivalists, and had crammed as much wilderness knowledge as they could into her small head. She was at least able to survive, though she bitterly missed her family.
Turns passed and the memory of having a family grew fainter with each day, the faces of her parents no more than blurred shapes. She had her own children now in the form of a pair of dragonet siblings. She had a home within the sheltered jungle and had taught herself to use the crude bow she'd made, all the while crafting a finer one when the rains kept her hidden. She became less than a human, yet more than an animal, a creature that was one with the jungle, depending on it to continue her life.
And then the humans came. She'd sensed their presence immediately, following her heightened instincts to them, eager to see a face like her own. But these people were hard, bitten men who stared at her with hungry eyes when she emerged in their midst. Who chased her when she fled back into her green sanctuary. Who pushed on the thin walls of her humanity and closed off all that kept her from becoming an animal.
That was the first time she'd killed a human, that day the criminal exiles came to her island, but it would not be the last. Few of them had families of their own, and few of those that did had brought theirs with them. She was a solitary woman in a population of men, and soon, every day became a battle to survive. Every day, she would win, human blood staining her stone knife and primitive arrowheads.
Her life continued that way for many Turns and probably would have ended on that island, clutched in greedy, disgusting hands, if fate had not again meddled. Strong storms bore down on the island and Kanana'e had the misfortune of being on the shore when the wind whipped up the waves. Again, the cruel water deities plucked her up and carried her across the enraged seas, depositing her unceremoniously on a wide beach that was lined with houses. For the first time in years, she felt terror grip her, trapped between two things she could not face, and, with no other options, she cowered in the sand until a kind woman coaxed her into her home.
A desperate need to escape her fear quelled Kana's instinct to flee from the woman, instead driving her to cling to her like the child she had had to kill to survive. A bath and some clothing later, Kanana'e found herself a peripheral resident of Refuge Island. She has been here for a little over a Turn now, and has become a bit more comfortable with the villagers, able to move through their streets without launching into a homicidal panic.
Status: Healthy
(~--------------------------*Pets*---------------------------~) Pet Image Goes Here (Optional) Name: Hu'ruu Species: Brown Dragonet Gender: Male Age: 9 Turns
Appearance: Hu'ruu is exactly the opposite of what a brown is expected to be. In fact, aside from color and his extensive length, he could easily pass as a blue or large green. He is the dark, rich color of moist, loamy soil, carrying faint traces of dark, mossy green along his slender, serpentine back and wingsails. Rough patches mar his skin, giving him the uneven texture of a tree trunk, though he still retains the signature smoothness of Pernese dragonkin.
Personality: Hu'ruu is Kanana'e's hunting partner. He is a natural predator and can often be relied on to bring down prey that is too small for Kana to waste an arrow on. He carries the pride of a warrior and is fiercely protective of his small family.
Pet Image Goes Here (Optional) Name: Ku'lree Species: Green Dragonet Gender: Female Age: 9 Turns
Appearance: Unlike her brother, Ku'lree is the stereotypical green. She is small and dainty with a hide that matches the sun-bleached vibrancy of her tropical home. Speckling covers her skin, making it appear as if she is constantly under a filtered spotlight.
Personality: Ku'lree is the calm, passive voice of reason in the family. She is very relaxed and does not get riled easily. Whenever her brother or mother is upset, she is always there to calm them back down with her gentle presence. Few are aware, however, that this innocent facade hides her darker nature as a nosy, thieving snoop.
Hu'ruu and Ku'lree don't really have names. Kanana'e calls them by the sounds they each emit most often, and these are the "names" that best fit.
