Name: Esther Aguirre
Alias:
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Race: Fairylander
Guild: N/A

Appearance: Esther is a petite, unthreatening white woman whose irises and pupils are consumed by an obvious red glow. She dresses and carries herself around in a fairly elaborate manner. Her make up is generally vibrant; using intensely colored eyeshadow and lipstick in her day to day set up. She does her long blonde hair in a tight braided bun of great complexity. Her style of dress is generally flashy: her common outfit consists of a scarlet evening gown with lace sleeves and turtle neck a split midway down the left for mobility. To avoid her left leg being completely bare, Esther wears the proper black hosiery. Even though they aren’t often appropriate or comfortable for every occasion, Esther often wears a pair of scarlet stiletto heels. Draped across Esther's shoulders in what appears to be a cape which is done up with numerous rhinestones .

Personality: The sad truth is that the real Esther is trapped and kept hidden away by an oppressive goon of an invader. Luckily for her it’s almost as if the real Esther didn’t really go away; the aggressive presence that has taken over still refers to herself as Esther despite the deep, booming and supernatural voice that echoes along the more soft, wafish voice that better fits the person doing the speaking. And that said, said demonic presence is something that this new Esther tries her very hardest to keep a secret.

The secret of Esther’s possession is kept the secret that it is by way of attempted deception. Esther figures that it’s a pretty big leap to just assume she is actually an evil wizard in Esther’s body, and that those sorts of accusations can easily be retorted or dismissed even if they weren’t actually thrown out. Esther is big on telling and not showing. Her act is incredibly flawed for a multitude of reasons, the least of all being Esther’s tendency to ham it up, making it rather obvious that she is always acting.

The largest issue with her plan is the new Esther has been so corrupted by her own magic and inprisonment that she doesn’t seem to be able to grasp a lot of the basic notions of human behavior, culture, and what it means to a person (mage or not). Despite the fact that she says that she is trying to keep a low key, she can’t help but use demonic logic in her day to day and question those who act on things such as “compassion” or “community”. She has a handle on the emotions that a corrupted wizard like herself is capable of, like rage, spite, and jealousy. Her default state is rather seething, although she continually attempts to pass this off as bashful shyness.

Esther has an incredibly fragile ego. Fancying herself a demonic master has given Esther the idea that she needs to have a rather high opinion of herself, and nothing makes her seethe even more than her baseline seethe than her unquestionable greatness being called into question. These insecurities are easily triggered, and when mixed with Esther tendencies towards melodrama she often declares vendettas and swears vengeance over the prettiest of corrections.

History: Esther Aguirre wasn’t always possessed by an evil wizard, in fact, for most of her life wizards didn’t really exist. Long before she was host to a disembodied wizard who fancied themselves the usher of the one true apocalypse, Esther was simply a shy perfumer in a stucco Fiore village. She was born as part of a pair of twins which ended up being the only children born to Amilee and Fulco Aguirre of the Azure Jasmine Perfumery. As with many sets of twins, Esther and her twin sister Joan had a fierce rivalry which spanned from their childhood into the days of their early adulthood.

The sister’s rivalry started innocuous enough, mostly childish one upmanship. Once the two got to work in the perfumery, things got a little bit more intense, and Esther began her descent into losing over and over again in the fight against her considerably more talented sister. Joan was gifted with a stronger nose; she was a true perfuming savant, the best Azure Jasmine had ever seen. Her complex aromas brought in business from out of town, and for the most part, put Azure Jasmine on the map.

Then the magic suddenly came, which was a pretty major shift in the whole scope of her sense of reality. Of course, with the magic came all sorts of heterodox and literally arcane ingredients that could be distilled into even crazier perfumes. In competition with her sister, Esther searched the countryside for all sorts of bizarre plants and perhaps beasts that could be distilled into perfume that would knock her sister out of the industry. She wasn’t sure just what she had found would smell like, but she had certainly collected a good number of things. In her search she found something that was particularly particular: a small idol that didn’t fit with the historical cultural background of the area, it was eldritch. Upon contact with this strange idol she was filled with a voice that compelled her to take said idol with her.

The voice that had entered Esther’s mind, quickly suggested just how she could make a perfume that smelled like music. But despite wizardly intervention on Esther’s part, Joan’s perfumes were still more popular. The arcane aromas and effects presented by Esther’s magical perfume couldn’t beat the tried and classic scents that Joan had perfected. Esther--without the influence of the wizard--wasn’t willing to accept this, and the wizard played to her insecurities, pulling at the strings and slowly corrupted her. After several new attempts and more attempts at increasingly elaborate aromas, the wizard finally broke through to Esther: Under the cover of night, Esther broke into her sister’s desk at the perfumery, and with the wizard’s guidance she sabotaged her essences.

The perfumes created from these tainted essences seemed fine at first, every time the test spray would smell immaculate. Once given a few hours, the perfume would decay and go from smelling like fancy perfume to smelling like something that was the opposite of perfume. People didn’t assume that the horrific stench that enveloped them and offended the sense and sensibility of everyone around them was the perfume at first, so they’d wear it again and again. After they lost all of their friends, and their job, it all started to make sense. Their entire life fell apart they day they got that particular bottle of perfume. Needless to say, Joan’s sales crashed and burned, and she was shamed out of town.

But it had been Joan’s perfumes that made Azure Jasmine the perfuming titan it had become. Esther’s magically influenced perfumes couldn’t hold the business up, and as a result it went under water. After the flood, Azure Jasmine was closed for good. Guilt, self-loathing and all sorts of negative emotions overwhelmed Esther. Before it could be purchased by new owners, Esther snuck into the building and confronted the idol. She argued with the unresponsive statuette, which had had so much to say before. In a moment of frustration stemming from built up rage as a result of just so many reasons to be angry she tossed the idol into the rack of essences shattering everything. The stench of sulfur and perfume struck Esther, overpowering her senses and causing her to faint.

Esther doesn’t remember waking up, largely because she never really did. The wizard had gotten a host that wasn’t a cheap stone idol, and there was now a journey to be had.

Demon Wizard History

Rank: D

Magic:
Legion of Lambast

Esther doesn’t have any magic that she learnt herself, but rather she was possessed by the likes of a once skilled wizard with their own magic. This magic is based around the conjuring of evil spirits called that quickly become in need of a host. Possession is a rather violent process which involves the demonic spirit attempting to fight back against the will making an violent effort to expel it. While only one demon can possess a body at once, other demons can assist in the process by fighting back against the will that’s trying to force out the first demon. At times, a demon might see it wise to put all their focus on taking over a single part of a person (a limb or some such), which is more easily done, but also easier for the host to undo via amputation or some other method. The easiest being for a demon to possess is a corpse, although their presence does not stop decay, and thus hunting trophies make the most efficient target. The demons themselves are all individuals, and each one has his or her own modus operandi and method of domination, although they all tend to be pretty evil with an evil agenda in service to their prince.

Combat:

Esther lacks the physical capability to be upfront and potent in melee, so she tries her best to avoid it. If left in a position wherein magic isn’t the best idea--there are indeed many situations wherein filling someone full of demons isn’t pragmatic--she is likely to just fire off a few rounds with her shotgun. Although, it rarely comes to this, as she usually wants to keep her opponent in one whole piece.

However, magic makes up the brunt of her style of fighting. She fancies herself a powerful sorcerer and gets to the sorcerery right away. Her magic is largely offensive, although not violent in a bloody sense. She holds no punches when she makes an effort to dominate and individual. But because demons have a harder time possessing mages, Esther tends try and get more than one demon in an opponent at once so that they can always have a little bit of help. She has a legion at her disposal and she uses this to her advantage. Her main strategy tends to lean towards swarm tactics on an individual will.

Because the nature of magic largely deals with spirits that are--for the most part--incorporeal and mortal, she isn’t able to use the magic to effectively block things or people being flung and swung at her. She is not lost defensively, however, her defense just happens to be based on offense. Using the more focused possessions her attempts at defense generally involve having her demons attempt to dominate a portion of an opponent so they may redirect the opponent’s attack momentarily.

Possessions: A selection of artisan perfumes… it’s a hobby.

Sawn-off shotgun.
