The strange feeling never really left her body.
There was still that tingling. That strange electric feeling, pulsing in her veins. It didn't hurt anymore. Besides that, she couldn't feel anything. Not even the ground beneath her feet.
Then again, Ashana wasn't really sure where she was. It was dark, at first. She couldn't tell which way was up, and which way was down. Regardless, she welcomed it. She was just so, so tired...
"You're not going to fall asleep now, are you? You just got here!"
It was that voice that startled her. It came from no particular direction, but just seemed to echo on forever. It seemed to be the voice of a female child, innocent and teasing.
Ashana was about to answer, but she wasn't even sure if she could. It didn't matter much, though, since the voice interrupted her before she could decide.
"They're going to send you to Bolgia 10, you know. That's pretty far down."
"W-Where...Where am I--?"
The words felt like concrete in her throat. Even so, they forced their way out, and seemed to shoot in a direction which she figured must've been up. And with that came the lights. The purples and the reds, the blues and the greens. Strange checkerboard patterns, bizarre objects falling downwards (so she assumed), and then there was that strange sensation of floating, floating, flying. No longer was she just suspended.
"Right now? You're nowhere. This is the edge."
The words really meant nothing. But the surroundings were beautiful. In a mist of color, she could see what looked to be bizarre, foreign landscapes in the distance. The sea, the waves crashing and pounding. But the water was red.
"Do you remember who you are?
Surely, whoever it was meant her name. What else?
"A-Ashana...!"
"That's your name. Do you remember who you are?"
Well, of course she did! Everybody remembers who they are, don't they? She was Ashana. No surname, right? It couldn't have been important enough. Sixteen years of age, or somewhere around there. Surely it didn't matter. Female. She was most definitely female.
"What else?"
...What else? What else was there?
"Where are you from?"
Well, she was from...Huh. Where was she from?
She couldn't grasp it. It wasn't there. No, it had to be! People don't just forget stuff like that. Not unless they have amnesia or something. And she was sure she didn't get conked on the head.
...No, no, it was gone.
"Ehehe! You've forgotten it all, silly! I guess that's what happens when you die, right? Or at least down here!"
...Die? She was dead? No, she couldn't be. Could she? Not that it made much of a difference. She couldn't remember anything from before. Nothing. And what did it mean, 'down here'? Down?
Suddenly, Ashana's eyes shot wide open. No...No!
She wasn't flying, she was falling.
"Like I said, cutie, they're sending you to Bolgia 10. You won't like it down there. Listen, though. I can make you a deal."
A deal? Somehow, that didn't sound safe. It wasn't like she had much choice, though. Falling, falling, falling...
"You team up with me, and you do me a few favors, and you'll be up to the good place in no time! C'mon, it's better than going all the way down there! Just relax!"
Well, it wasn't like there was much of an alternative. There was no apprehension, no more questions. There was just a soft sighing, and a plea.
"Help me...Please!"
"You made the right choice."
Then everything was a blur. Everything suddenly faded to black, and right in front of her, there was the face of a housecat, with wide blue eyes, staring straight into here.
And then there was nothing.

She awoke in a room. Like a cheap motel room, most likely. Peeling floral wallpaper, a lumpy bed. A vase with dead flowers sitting on a desk. Huh, she couldn't recall coming in here before. Then again, she couldn't recall much of anything...
Groaning, Ashana slipped off the bed, shaking her head and running a hand through her hair.
Well, that was odd. She could've sworn her ear didn't feel like that. Fuzzy and...pointed?
In a state of confusion, she wandered into the bathroom. Just as shitty as the room itself. And then she looked in the mirror.
...What. The. Fuck.

She felt so empty.
She also felt like all the air in her lungs was gone. She was drowning.
Only, there was no water. Just a barren and snowy desert.
She gulped but her throat was so dry it burned and scratched.
"...hello?" she called out. Her voice was raspy and it still hurt to breath.
Nothing called back, so she gathered what little strength she still had and staggered up. It was snowing ever so lightly and there wasn't a wind. Normally, she wouldn't mind (the wind usually carries along a chill) but without it...the whole desert seemed ominous.
She also noted that it wasn't cold. Nor hot. It was just...
Nothing. Everything felt artificial.
A snarl came from behind her and she turned around and faced a beautiful brown wolf; grey patches were scattered all along it's body. Not to mention, the wolf was enormous. She's never seen a wolf that big.
Wait.
Has she ever seen a wolf in real life? But more importantly why was it snarling.
Oh. He was going to eat her.
"Don't eat me!" she cried out and tried to back away. Only she fell into the snow.
"Foolish mortal," his voice bellowed. It was out of this world...deep, dark, terrifying...
"I wouldn't dare prey on the likes of you. You belong to the Minotaur and harpies."
She tried to gulp again, "..Minotaur? Harpies? Where..are we?"
He licked his paw, "You really have no idea, do you. Pathetic."
"Please, tell me where I am! I want to know!" she pleaded and he let out a ferocious bark.
"Calm yourself, mortal! You are headed to the middle ring, located in the seventh circle. There you will become a thorny bush and harpies will feats upon your flesh everyday...and every hour of your pathetic existence."
His words hurt her. She tried to hide the tears but the lack of air didn't help.
"...Am I going to die?"
His tail swished and he grinned - which was weird. And scary. Wolves aren't supposed to grin. But, he was doing it anyway.
"You can't remember anything...what is your name?"
"I -" she paused. "...Esther...I think."
"Esther," he began, "...it seems that you are in need of help. And I pity you - the middle ring is not a kind place. Then again, there are no kind places here."
"Can you help me? Get out of here? I have to get back to my family.."
He snarled, "I can take you back to your home if you and I make a deal."
Esther knew something wasn't right, but she was desperate.
"..A-anything! Please, I want to go home.."
He stretched out his limbs and stepped closer to her, "Very well."

Esther let out some inhuman shriek as she jolted from her slumber.
"What a terrible..d...dream.." her voice dropped when she noticed her glum and haunted surroundings. Her ears twitched and stood up from the cold ground.
Her strength has returned, it seems. And where was Odin -
How'd she know his name.
Wait, did her ears twitch!?
Instinctively she covered her own ears. They were still in tact and not twitching.
Then...that meant.
She gulped and raised her hands to the top of her head and felt two rough-fur wolf ears.
"Oh...oh, no!!"
Esther let out a howl.

She could still feel her head pounding, from the inside this time.
Liquid streaked across her face. Blood, sweat, both? She couldn't remember, or bring herself to care, for that matter.
Kamaria suddenly became aware of the noise around her. A vehicle? Still couldn't manage to open her eyes.
"Stand up properly. Proud. Do you have any idea how pathetic you look right now?"
Kamaria simply groaned in reply, feeling the sensation return to the rest of her body, her arm tied to the railing above her, and her legs like jelly beneath her.
"Up!" The voice growled, "Show some respect, for yourself if not for me."
She grunted, rubbing her eyes with her free arm and pulling herself up into a proper standing position. A train. No lights, no people. A tunnel. A subway, perhaps?
"What's this all about? Don't tell me I got beaten again..." She coughed a few times, still groggy from whatever beating she had presumably received. The tunnel never seemed to end.
A low chuckle followed.
"Perhaps so, you are dead, after all, young lady."
"Like hell I am." No way was she dead. She was apparently still young, and young people didn't die, especially not herself.
Actually, who on earth was she? Kamaria. Kamaria Bell. An overly fancy name for a very not-fancy person. And she lived. Somewhere. Where was somewhere? Young. A girl. Lives somewhere.
"I do enjoy a spirited child. Looks like our meeting was fate."
"Why don't you spout your crap to my face, eh?" With her growing frustration at being unable to remember anything, she tugged stubbornly at the bar above her. Not that it would do anything, but it would make her feel be-
Snap.
The rusted bar fell to the ground with a crash, and the apparently amnesiac girl smirked, scraping it along the floor behind her.
"When I get to you, it'll be the last thing you'll ever see coming."
"I really do like you, I think we'll get along great. With your unpleasant personality you shouldn't be too surprised to hear you're going down there, no?"
Kamaria faltered, walking through the next carriage, filled with nothing but shadows and faces and things she didn't understand and the noise was suddenly too much and "Down down down down down".
She faced the ram's face engraved on the door of the driver's carriage.
"I don't care where I'm going, just get me out of here."
"Up?"
"I said I don't care."
"It gets worse. The outer ring! I'm so proud."
"Then get me out of there."
"Would you like my help?"
"What's the price?" She snarled, pulling the door open.

Black turned to white, nothing but white. She stood in front of the ram, face to face, staring into its deep red eyes.
"What's the magic word?" Apparently he'd grown tired of this ignorant human's idle chitchat, and decided to get straight to the point.
"Please." She replied breathlessly in surrender.

And then she woke up. A smile spread across her face. A dream. She hadn't lost a fight and she most certainly was not dead. After all, they didn't have beds in hell, and the quality of this accommodation was startlingly familiar.
Her train of thought reminded her of the fact that she couldn't remember a thing. She shot up, stars in her eyes, head pounding, head in hands. It didn't matter. After all, if this was so familiar, who's to say that she had anything to lose in the first place? Her own laughter broke the silence as she tugged at her hair, scraping her nails across her scalp when-
Something hard. Rub rub. Horns. She turned to her left to find a mirror. Horns. Curved horns. A ram's horns.
Kamaria let out a choked cry as she shoved her face into the pillow.

...Well, this was...
Ashana rubbed her eyes and blinked. Once, twice. Three times. Nope, still there.
Fuzzy cat ears. Fuzzy, fuzzy cat ears. And...
She felt a strange, unused muscle twitch in her backside.
"Oh, no...No way...!"
She looked behind her and groaned. Yep. A tail. With bell tied to it, of all things.
Sure, she couldn't remember much of anything, but she was pretty sure that hadn't been there before. People didn't just have stuff like that, did they? At least, not to her knowledge. Which, at this point, was absolutely useless. All she had was the basics. People. Places. But she couldn't put faces or names to any of that. It was just an idea.
The small girl turned around a few times, staring at her tail. It twitched, and she shuddered. That didn't feel natural. Now, why in the world...?
She leaned against the grimy, tiled wall, hanging onto a rusty towel rack. Closing her eyes, she let out a tiny sigh. There was something important. Something that'd happened.
All she could remember was a pair of wide blue eyes, just like the blue of her own. Slitted pupils. And that soft, lilting voice.
The cat. It'd been the cat.
Kisa.
She'd done this. Ashana had absolutely no idea how she knew the thing's name, but she wasn't going to question it. It was nice to know at least something. And where was she now? Nowhere to be found.
At the very least, Ashana could try to figure out where she was. This place looked like a hotel of sorts, there was probably somebody at the front desk she could talk to.

"Wait, what? What does 'indefinitely' mean?"
Raising an eyebrow, the girl folded her arms across her chest, standing in front of the receptionist's desk. The woman behind it looked generally greasy and grimy, like the rest of the place. And the blank look in her eyes was unsettling. The name tag read "Lucy".
"It means that you're staying here until further notice. Payments will have a 1-week notice." The woman didn't look up.
"I don't have any money!"
"Somebody's already paid for you."
...What. Who? She didn't know anybody in this place. Wherever 'this place' even was. Then again, not much made sense at all.
"...Hah? Who did that?"
"It wasn't my shift when they came. I have no idea."
Huh. Well then.

Kamaria sauntered down to the reception in disgust. There was simply nothing she could do to cover the horns, so she was going to have to wing it.
She made a funny noise in her throat when she saw a midget with cat ears and a tail. A damn tail. With a bell on it. Wow.
Well, at least she wasn't the only one.
"Excuse me, but where on earth am I?" She crossed her arms, fixing that oddly empty looking woman with a glare. Intimidating the first person she encountered. Maybe Areios wasn't lying when he said she had a bad personality. Which was a dumb name that she didn't remember learning. Damn. All his fault, probably.

"...Earth? Dear, you're in Purgatory. Acedia City, to be exact." The woman didn't even look at Kamaria, instead staring down at her desk, with that glazed-over look.
Ashana looked out of the corner of her eye at the other girl. Ram horns. Now, that was interesting. At she wasn't the only weirdo in the room. "Well, that answers my question. Why didn't you tell me that?"
"You didn't ask."

"Purgatory?" Kamaria spat, "D-do you think this is some kind of joke?" Her face fell, revealing the horror she felt.
She ran a hand across her face, regaining her composure, "I see. Wouldn't happen to have a coffee shop nearby, would you?"
She didn't care if she had no money, she would kill for some caffeine right now. Everyone was dead anyway, right? No problem. Place was probably already teeming with thieves.

"It's not a joke. Just ask anyone. You must be one of those mild offenders, eh? To be put all the way up here. Anyhow, there's a coffee shop a few blocks over. You'll know it when you see it. One of the windows is broken and nobody's bothered to fix it yet." The receptionist continued to look down.
Well, there was no way Ashana was going to let someone in the same situation get away. Maybe she could get some answers. She looked over at the ram-girl. "Hey. You. What's your name?"

Kamaria's eyes darted to the smaller girl, "Kamaria. Why?" She was honestly curious about the situation, but socialising was most certainly not her strong point, and little girls were definitely not her first choice for conversation.

"Well, you don't know where you are. And neither do I. I mean, I woke up in a hotel room, and I can't remember jack. Plus there's the whole..." Ashana pointed to her cat ears, and then gestured to Kamaria's horns. "Yeah. Anyway, I'm Ashana. I think."
