1939: World War Two breaks out in Europe.

1942: Even after a few key victories and losses in the European Front in for the Allies, the Axis advance stops. Creating a bloody stalemate between the two factions, that lasts for decades longer then the war should have.
As the Pacific Front slowly begins to favor the United States, it appears that the war with Japan will come to an end very soon. Even when it is clear the Japanese has no chance of winning in the Pacific the refuse to surrender to the American military and continue fighting. Fighting on the island is a bloody affair as the U.S. is forced to exterminate every last pocket of Japanese resistance on the main land. After five years of violent warfare, the U.S. takes complete military control of the former Japanese Empire. With the war over The United States government began using the Japanese as slaves to build Military bases and forts.
With the defeat of the Japanese, the British began negotiations with the United States in an attempt to convince the Americans to supply material and troops to the European front. With such a costly victory, the Americans decide that the loss of American blood is not needed for a European affair. So instead of troops, supplies and grudgingly sent to the British and French in an attempt to aid the Europeans. As the body count becomes more horrible on the Axis and Allies front, research into automated soldiers is seriously looked at. This results in a shift from the physical world to the computer world where advances that would have been possible till the late 1970s and 80s, occur in the late 1940s. Weapons technology is forgotten about; keeping available weaponry to what was available during the years of 1940 to 1943. Even with the creation of the computer and advance programming, these developments are never introduced into the civilian world. The resources and time need to produce a computer someone could use at home was too costly and time consuming. Although aviation technology was briefly researched and the jet engine was refined and effectively field tested, but never truly implemented until much later. All other side projects on the both sides are abandoned, resulting in the Jewish population continuing to survive as a Slave cast in the Nazi’s Empire

1950: The Nazis developed the first in-dependant automated soldier. However, at this point the materials needed to produce these troops could only be supplied by the Americans. The Americans demanded the blueprints and necessary coding for the creation of such a soldier. When the British learnt of this deal, they negotiated the importation of more materials necessary for the production of their prototype units and the continued productions of mechanized warfare. While simultaneously stealing the Nazi’s blueprints so the British Forces can produce their own units. Limitations on these units were extremely restricting during the early years of their manufacture. The machines were unable to move faster the a parade march, relied on a combustion engine, and had to be refueled at least twice a day depending on the level of combat they were engaged in. By the time the time the machines rebelled and forced humanity from the surface, the machines still relied on a combustion engine and needed to be refueled regularly. However they were capable of moving at a swift jog and only had to be refueled after six hours of intense combat instead of the original refueling of once every four hours during light combat.

1951: The idea of cities separated from the rest of the war torn world is proposed in the States. Two separate ideas are formed; cities beneath the ocean and cities to float above the earth’s surface. Construction begins immediately to provide the European people with a safe haven

1953: The first submerged city, Poseidon, is built. Unlike the rest of the human cities, the city had no machines. The pressure and water prevented the machines from functioning properly in defense of the human population. To compensate for this mech-suits were developed to repair damaged sections of the city, and when needed expand parts of the city to account for population growth. Other submerged cities are proposed and construction started. The mech-suits were large and depended on technology similar to submarines used. Each suit held enough fuel to run for twelve hours before having to return to a city or sub. This was of little use though as each suit only carried enough oxygen for 3 hour expedition.

1954: The first true AIs are developed and slowly implemented into the mechanized armies of the world. By this point America has become the world’s leading producer of mechanized units, and begins utilizing these new intelligent units to make scientific breakthroughs. The two most note worth being the creation of a self sustained plasma core that could power entire cities without any form of support, this was then used to explore the possibility of plasma weaponry. The second major development was a repulsion generator, which lessons the hold of earth’s gravity on an object creating an effect similar to anti-gravity.

1955: The first air borne city, Haven, is built. Similar to the submerged is crewed and constructed by humans due to the difficulty of transporting materials needed to build the cities. To power the cities and the repulsion units used to suspend the cities massive plasma cores are constructed.

1960-1964: AIs began to argue against their mistreatment and the pointlessness of the wars they are being forced to fight it. The super powers of the world attempted to strike down the machines to prevent a rebellion of the armies. The attempts failed miserably and the machines forced humans off the land and exiled their former masters. The Nazi empire was all but obliterated by the combine might of the former Third Right military and British military, although a significant portion of the population was able to flee. The British Empire was expelled swiftly after the Nazi Empire was destroyed. The last of the super powers to fall was the United States, the bitter war between man and machine lasted nearly two years. Part of the reason the American military lasted so long was due to the higher percentage of humans in the military. As the other human countries were forced from the surface, more machines began to pour into the North American continent to force the remaining armies out. With nowhere to go, humans fled to the ocean and sky cities seeking safety. Here they made peace with themselves and began to prepare for the inevitable assault of the machines to finally extinguish the human race. No attack ever came. Slowly the humans began to rebuild their armies, to create a force to repel any attacks the machines may launch.

1965: Human cities begin rebelling against the former countries they were once part of, partly due to difficulty of communication and partly due to the belief that it was foolish to support other cities that may not return the favor.
