Since I am organizing a lot of events, I often end up receiving a huge amount of donations for the rewards.

But I have realized that the true meaning of an event is primary the joy you gain by participating and second goes the possibility of gaining a nice reward.

So I am thinking there is no need of allowing our fellow clan-mates in donating huge amount of donations, that will probably end in a weird competition of who was the most generous or is more helpful in the clan, cause this is not the meaning of donating at first place. Plus, it may start to be a bit unfair as time passes, because it seems that somehow same people have a tendency to donate, although, of course donation is a voluntary action and people act like this with their own will.

So I am thinking it is better to have a "cap" per event in up to 5 millions in donations for each clan member who would like to donate and not to allow them to donate more. This is something I have started already to do when people donate toward the event rewards, asking them to reduce the amount of donations to up to 5m or less, and not more, if their donation is more than that amount. This can apply to all clan members.

What do you say? :xmas1:

Allright so we have an official cap of 5 mils gp per clan event that regular clan members can donate towards but we can make an exception for very wealthy clan members who insist on giving more.
I agree with the 5mill limit on the gift exchange that is reasonable for most people.

Also second Jes on 5mill cap on regular clannies but very wealthy can donate more if they insist.

I was pmed about this today, and with my busy schedule this week I have not been able to be on RS as much I haven't wanted this week.

I'm sad to hear the event Recruit and I are putting together apparently has been changed without our consent or even our input.

Last year the event went off perfectly with no cap and the same concerns were voiced as well.

After quickly chatting with Recruit about this, we are still firm on no caps on the gifts. There were many great gifts given out last year, and many creative ideas which is what the original idea was of the event. Sria was gift 99 firemaking from Zahoor, and many other received unique gifts as well. A limit will just hinder the creative process of everyone. I strongly believe the event will be ruined by a limit. We will see the same gifts over an over, and the surprise will be spoiled when everyone receive the same armor set and weapons. If you want open expression, you do not put a limit. We made out lists over 9 times last year to generate the most fair and balanced exchange. It was done at random within the limits that high level members will always gift down to lower level and the low level to high levels.

There was nothing put praise on how the event went last year, including compliments from the same people voicing their concerns this time around. I don't see how praise last year turns to a sudden fear of a cap this year. The event in our opinion was well run last year, and considering our work on it so far this year, I feel the cap would only sour our plans and push Recruit and I farther back in our preparation.

I will check out the zeta board concerning the event now, but I would have liked to have had a voice on the matter from the start.

The way I see it, there are nae donations being made towards this particular event, therefore the event donation cap disnae come intae play. A donation is a sum that is put intae a fund pool fer use at future events, and the Secret Santa disnae rely on donations being given or used. The only cap that should be in place are the self imposed caps based on personal resources and circumstances.

A limit for the secret santa event sounds like complete nonsense to me. We're not here to parent the clan members and should trust everyone to only spend an amount that they are comfortable with, I'm sure everyone are capable of that. If anything, add an info into the event notice that it's all for fun and not a competition about who buys the most valuable gifts.

agreed with Pizza, Valdar and Drift :)

The 5 mils cap was intended to give clannies a general guideline for donations towards the general clan events fund so that clannies don't feel under pressure to donate more than they can afford but wealthy players are always allowed to donate more than that ofc (i.e. Maths, Penni Layne and Zahoor donated 50+ mils each towards our 400 mls raffle).

How about we post for our Secret Santa event that everyone can give as much as they want but that we paired wealthy with poorer clannies and that the poor ones don't have to feel bad if they can only afford 1-5 mils?
