Document is under construction, and will be updated whenever it is refined. Malatorans can discuss this document here.
Special provisions for multi-species future needs:
- All sapient beings (aka: "sophonts"), defined as intelligent self-aware beings who are capable of appropriate judgment (wisdom) ... regardless of species, appearance, body chemistry, origin, size, gender, intelligence, or any other criteria ... shall be considered a legal "person", entitled to equal rights and freedoms as their peers.
(See the "Freedom from fear" section, below.)
Using the Four Freedoms model as a basic starting point... and expanding it with the natural rights theory and the law of equal liberty...
- Freedom of speech and expression
- Freedom of worship
- Freedom of religion and faith — universal right to have and practice whatever belief system is desired.
- Freedom to choose any religion, or lack of religion.
- Unrestricted right to enter or exit any religious community, at any age.
- Freedom from unwanted religious influence — universal right to not have a religion.
- Freedom from fear
- Freedom from want
- "Fifth Freedom" — the right to protect the other four, by any means necessary.
- Right of self-defense — universal right to protect oneself, those under one's care, and those unable to defend themselves... including the use of deadly force if necessary.
- Universal right to stand your ground and defend your home from unlawful and hostile invaders.
- Freedom to keep and bear weapons, responsibly, provided this freedom is not abused for unlawful purposes (infringing on any other right or freedom without just cause will forfeit this freedom, temporarily or permanently, on an individual basis).
- Duty of revolution — when government actions develop into tyranny, and these essential liberties are violated by the very government sworn to protect them, it is the duty of citizens to overthrow said government, by any force necessary, and restore these essential liberties to their proper place with a new government.
Additional topics:
- Self-ownership principle — each person has the absolute and inalienable right to control their own body, in whatever form that may be. They posses free will, and are not obligated to any duty for which they have not previously consented to perform.
- Right to die — unrestricted right to terminate oneself, by suicide or voluntary euthanasia, provided doing so does not endanger others.
- Protection of reproductive rights —
- Right to procreation.
- Right to contraception, unrestricted.
- Right to abortion — duty to abort if medically required to save the mother's life, and the fetus will not survive anyway... or if the fetus has an uncorrectable terminal congenital disorder that makes it a non-person (such as anencephaly).
- Ban on all genital modification, for any purpose that is not a medical emergency, performed on infants and children — elective modifications permitted upon reaching adulthood.
- Protection / consideration of indigenous rights.
- Right to privacy in the bedroom — no outside party may interfere in whatever consensual activities happen in any individual's sleeping chambers: this area is a private sanctuary.
- Freedom to love... anyone, any number of people... and express that love in any consensual way.
- Right to marry / choose a mate, of any gender or species.
- Right to have multiple mates, if consensual.
- Freedom of naturism — In recognition that many non-human species have little need or desire to wear clothing (or it may be impractical or even offensive), there shall be no laws requiring individuals to wear clothing in general public (when off-duty from work), and they shall not be punished or harassed for innocently (non-sexually) appearing nude in public. The issue shall be left to social customs, not legislation.
- No requirement of a national dress code shall ever be made... protective clothing shall be required for certain occupations, as needed.
- No restrictions on nude swimming shall ever be made.
- Right to breastfeed in public is guaranteed.
- Lewd exhibitionism (and particularly overt displays and acts of sexuality in public) may be restricted.
