Who Ya Gonna Call?

I'm upset and confused, as I found out today the kid skipped school today and yesterday. She's being elusive on why she did. I had thought she liked school and didn't have any issues, now I'm not sure. Since she's not opening up to me I'm thinking about getting her school psychologist to speak with her. Well, that's what's on my mind now! |

Something must be bothering her. Did she skip on her own or with another kid? She is not being bullied? I think you said before she actually defended someone who was bullied. |

^ They had a story about that on the local news last night. Two reports of someone dressed as clown near schools scaring kids.

Yup I've heard about them, really messed up. From what I can gather is they're "harmless" but has the public on edge because of stalking.
Yeah definitely something is bothering her. I haven't heard otherwise so I assumed she skipped on her own. She did defend someone from being bullied last year however this year she was placed in advanced classes for math and science so she's with kids older than her, kids can be cruel so it could be those older girls picking on her or her same aged peers making fun of her being a "nerd". Either way she hasn't confided to me, all she does is go to her room, turn up her stereo and bury herself in a book. If I turn the stereo off/down she starts screaming "Leave me alone! I don't want to talk about it!" I try not to press on beyond that. She'll be skyping with her mother this weekend so hopefully she'll confide her issues with her. She loves school so I'm thinking the issue may actually have something to do with the school bus, so we're trying to make arrangements so that my girlfriend will drive her to school in the morning (I have to be at work at 4am) and she'll stay for the after school program so I can pick her up in the afternoon when I get off work. The trouble is my hours vary so much, sometimes we're done by 2:30 other times we've got a heavy day and are there til 4-ish. Fortunately I do have an idea of my length of day when I call her while on my 7am break so she'll have an idea rather she'll be staying after or leaving at the regular dismissal time. So she finally spoke up on the issue. It was, as suspected, a bully on the school bus. Apparently some older kid was picking on another kid and when she stepped up to defend, she was attacked by another kid. She has bruises on her arms from being held down. The reason she didn't say anything til now was because they threatened that if she reported it that "next time" would be a lot worse for both of them. Anyway not only am I filing a report with the bus company and the school, she won't be riding the bus this year. My girlfriend will be driving her to school in the morning and I'll be picking her up in the afternoon, and on the rare occasion when my GF can't drive her I'll be taking an extended morning break to run home to take her to school myself. |
