Who Ya Gonna Call?

Ironically, Sam's been talking about going as a clown this Halloween because of the new IT. I'm trying to convince her to go as anything else but she's insistent. |

Oh! Oh! Look out people! LOL. Has she already seen the original IT or read the book? |

She read the book, don't think she's seen the original movie though. Stephen King is one of her favorite authors, which for an 11 yr old is surprising. I've been trying to get her to watch The Clown Murders with me, it's a bit old/low budget but good if you like gore and killer clowns. Of course I'm sure once she does watch it I won't be sleeping alone for at least a month afterward... That said, I'm really hoping when she says she wants to dress as a clown she means a "happy clown" not a blood dripping, killer clown. |

Well shit, my Army recruiter called me this morning and said I was medically disqualified at MEPs (military entrance processing). He left a voicemail so that's all he said, I don't know what the exact reason for was, but I'm assuming it has something to do with the surgeries I had as a child(I went through 3 major intestinal surgeries within the first 5 yrs of my life). It's been 20+ years since, and never had any complications and it doesn't affect my very physical lifestyle (I'm a warehouse worker throwing boxes as heavy as 50# daily, run 2+ miles every other day and participate in bike races). I've been reading up on medical waivers in the Army but apparently they're hard to come by. Although the Army would've opened many more doors that I wouldn't have thought about as a civilian, I probably should be lucky that I finally landed myself a decent-paying full time job. Sure management leaves a lot to be desired and our scheduling can be problematic but its still rather steady . |

Are there any other type of clowns these days except the blood dripping, killer clown types, thanks to IT and the craze over the last year? Circuses are closing and disappearing and so are clowns associated with them, thanks to animal activists. McDonalds, if I recall, have retired Ronald McDonald because many kids and even adults are now adverse to any type of clowns that they don't want a clown representing them. Seems 'happy clowns' are a dying breed, killed off by the killer clown craze. It is surprising that Stephen King is one of her favorite authors and she has already read IT at her age. I haven't read IT myself but that is one thick book but I suppose it is not much different from the Harry Potter books and their size which didn't prevent them from becoming popular. At least it got her interested in reading which I think is important for kids. |

Sorry to hear that. Guess they don't need to give you the exact reason for your disqualification and there is no way to appeal the decision? What are your plans now? On the positive side, you will now be able to look after Sam and won't need someone else to look after her. Are you still with your girlfriend and previous plans with her back on? |

No, they should give a reason why I was disqualified, unfortunately I haven't spoke with my recruiter since my MEPs visit (he left a voicemail today letting me know I was DQ'd and has been out of office or busy ever since). Like I said I can apply for a medical waiver but I've heard they are very hard to get approved. As for my plans right now, I guess I'll continue working for my current employer, the pay and benefits are decent and the schedule is rather flexible. Sam seemed excited that I won't be going into the Army, I think she's just glad I won't be "abandoning" her. As for my former fiancee, we broke up however we've talked a few times since and have decided to remain good friends. |

Yup. Her school banned clown costumes so she won't be going as that. Instead she decided she wanted to be a cheerleader. Not too exciting but seeing how she's a bit of a jock it's not surprising that it was her 2nd choice. As a matter of fact we're going to a Halloween party tonight and I'm going as a zombie auto mechanic, getting ready to paint my face white with fake blood drips throw on my greasy coveralls and stick a wrench in my pocket. Simple and only cost me $10 for some paint/blood. My employer is great too, allowing us to dress up on Tuesday as long as we don't wear masks. |

9-Year-Old Shoots Sister Dead Over Video Game Controller https://screenrant.com/9-year-old-shoots-sister-dead-video-game-controller/ Tragic! The 9-year old "retrieved a .25-caliber handgun from a nightstand, and fatally shot his sister in the back of the head." Why is it on the nightstand, easily accessible to the kid? Another argument for gun laws. |
