Something must be bothering her. Did she skip on her own or with another kid? She is not being bullied? I think you said before she actually defended someone who was bullied.

Yeah definitely something is bothering her. I haven't heard otherwise so I assumed she skipped on her own. She did defend someone from being bullied last year however this year she was placed in advanced classes for math and science so she's with kids older than her, kids can be cruel so it could be those older girls picking on her or her same aged peers making fun of her being a "nerd". Either way she hasn't confided to me, all she does is go to her room, turn up her stereo and bury herself in a book. If I turn the stereo off/down she starts screaming "Leave me alone! I don't want to talk about it!" I try not to press on beyond that. She'll be skyping with her mother this weekend so hopefully she'll confide her issues with her.

She loves school so I'm thinking the issue may actually have something to do with the school bus, so we're trying to make arrangements so that my girlfriend will drive her to school in the morning (I have to be at work at 4am) and she'll stay for the after school program so I can pick her up in the afternoon when I get off work. The trouble is my hours vary so much, sometimes we're done by 2:30 other times we've got a heavy day and are there til 4-ish. Fortunately I do have an idea of my length of day when I call her while on my 7am break so she'll have an idea rather she'll be staying after or leaving at the regular dismissal time.
So she finally spoke up on the issue. It was, as suspected, a bully on the school bus. Apparently some older kid was picking on another kid and when she stepped up to defend, she was attacked by another kid. She has bruises on her arms from being held down. The reason she didn't say anything til now was because they threatened that if she reported it that "next time" would be a lot worse for both of them. Anyway not only am I filing a report with the bus company and the school, she won't be riding the bus this year. My girlfriend will be driving her to school in the morning and I'll be picking her up in the afternoon, and on the rare occasion when my GF can't drive her I'll be taking an extended morning break to run home to take her to school myself.
Glad you were finally able to find out what was bothering her so you can begin to help her. Kids can be so mean.

you guys hear about those creepy clowns? well they've made it to my neck of the woods
News of creepy clown sightings are spreading. I even saw video on YouTube about this from the UK. With Halloween approaching I am sure many people will be dressing as a creepy clown.

That's my plan, sort of, I'm dressing as a zombie clown this Halloween. But, as if that's not creepy enough......

What is wrong with me?!? Only going to have a 1 day weekend this week, working both Saturday & Sunday overtime. On top of working 12 hours everyday this week. Definitely not going to get a small check next pay day, but I am feeling bad for abandoning the kid at my parents' all weekend

What's next? Kids won't want to go to the circus because of the clowns so they won't be part of the show in the future?

Oddly enough, I always found Ronald McDonald to be a bit on the creepy side...Not sure why, but as a result I RARELY take the kid to McDonald's (well that and their menu lacks true healthy choices).

On the upside to all this clown hysteria, I'm tempted to watch The Clown Murders which if I'm not mistaken features John Candy in a cameo role anyway.

I'm excited because I finally found my first house. Now we've just got to close on the deal and make a couple minor repairs

Posted Image
(yeah my camera phone kinda sucks)

3 bedroom 1-1/2 bath, small village location, only 4 blocks from the kid's school and only a 30 mile commute to work.
Well, just as I thought we were close to closing...My realtor called and wants me to look at another house, she's convinced I'd like it (another 3 bedroom, 2 bath, two car garage ... for $10,000 less than the previous house). Its on the outskirts of town so it also comes with about 3 acres of land. Downside is it's 10 miles further to work, and the kid won't be able to walk to school but if everything checks out on this house, those are just small details at this point I could live with.

Decisions...Decisions... Time to make a pro/con list LOL

^ Nope - I haven't even gone on the walkthrough of the second house yet, will probably do that this upcoming Friday, but by the drive-by it looks promising.

^ Did you check online for details and/or photos of the interior of the second house?
