9 Things You Shouldn't Buy on Black Friday

http://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/savingandinvesting/9-things-you-shouldnt-buy-on-black-friday/ss-AAkq8L7?li=AAggNb9&ocid=HPCDHP#image=10

Anyone going to take advantage of Black Friday sales?

I have to work on Thanksgiving and I'm tempted to work Friday as well, so the only Black Friday shopping I plan on doing this year is movies and possibly video games! I don't know the last time I bought a "door buster" item on Black Friday.

As a basic rule of thumb any consumer should consider; best deals on computers are in September in time for Back to School and TV deals are in late January-early February in time for the Superbowl.
Black Friday sales in Canada are not as good as Boxing Day/Week sales in Canada and not as big as the ones in the U.S. although it may get better over time especially if the Canadian dollar remains weak compared to U.S. dollars. Frankly I have found some Black Friday sales in Canada over-rated. Having said that I did find a great deal when I bought my 50" flat-screen TV a couple of years ago during a Black Friday sale or was it Cyber Monday?

The basic rule of thumb is mostly the same in Canada as in the U.S. except TV deals may also be had during Black Friday sales, as I found, in time for the Grey Cup game besides the weeks leading to the Super Bowl. Although the Grey Cup game is not as big as the Super Bowl, it is a good excuse for sellers to have a big sale to sell more TVs.

I'm a full timer, we're only supposed to work 40 hours a week but over the last year we've had more 60-80 hour weeks. Last week I only got like 33 hours give or take, it was the first time I've had to use my PTO (paid time off) to make up the difference. We'll probably have a 80 hour week this week to make up for the low volume week we just had. Oh well, counting down to my VACATION at the end of December :D

Wooohooooo so happy! Got approved and after some last minute paperwork finalizing (final inspection, etc.), gonna be moving into my new home just after the new year!! It's a manufactured home, in a small mobile home park vs the house I wanted originally (the former owner didn't want to accept my attractive bid so I gave up hope). It's a newly built ("2017" model), 3 bedroom 2 bath located in a rural community. Little maintenance expected for the first couple years anyway. Although it's about 50% cheaper then the house I was looking at buying, I'm still going to finance (don't want to blow my whole savings) and will still have the lot rent to pay for a few years until I work up another down payment for a parcel of land to move it to. I guess what really sold me is the size of the place, it's only 14'x76' so heating and even electrical will be SUPER cheap. Water's free, pumped in via a nearby spring (I'm on a well system now so that won't be any different really).

You can expect pics real soon if anyone's interested. I'll likely take some staged before/after shots.
