You were half right Mike, I was in an accident involving my truck and a tractor trailer but I didn't get run of the road.

The story begins last Sunday. I don't usually work Sundays but with bills adding up and my girlfriend getting less hours at her job I decided to work overtime. On my way home that evening, around 6pm, I was driving along the freeway (far left lane) when a second car was entering the freeway and clipped my passenger door (he crossed 2 lanes just to get on!), this caused me to spin around 180 degrees. For the time of day there wasn't a lot of traffic, except for the tractor trailer that slammed into me shortly after. After that I blacked out, when I came to I was in the county hospital. I had a difficult time breathing since I arrived at the hospital so there were additional tests. After the x-rays and exams, I was told my right leg was broke in 2 places and I had whiplash. Tests showed I was in shock from the accident which was the cause of the trouble in breathing. The doctors told me I was lucky to be alive after a insane accident like that.

Anyways, they kept me admitted for the whole week as a precaution, and i was discharged yesterday afternoon.
Between not being able to return to work for a couple weeks and the upcoming hospital bill I am digging back into debt :(

^ Mike, please pass on my get well wishes to Joe if you see or talk to him before he's released. I had noticed his absence of late. Hoping for a speedy recovery and seeing him online soon!

He told me, thanks dvdfanatic99! :)
Your girlfriend told me you got rear-ended by a semi-truck, went off the road and hit a tree. How you explain it sounds even worse, your doctor was right - you are very lucky to be alive right now!

As for your financial problem, at least you have insurance right? Your truck was probably totaled so you should get some kind of settlement off that, plus whatever you get from the other parties involved.

Lastly, I'm glad you're alright and I think I speak for everyone here when I say welcome back, Joe!

My truck was insured. Unfortunately according to the insurance company, the truck was worth next to nothing, so some settlement I'll be getting. And to top it off, the asshole who hit me was uninsured and unlicensed, so I'm not expecting much if anything out of that case. Not entirely sure about the truck driver, he was driving a company truck so it was insured but they're giving me the run around on a settlement.. But, at least my employment is secured until October 1st - so I have the rest of this month to recover and return to my job where hopefully I'm still up for a promotion which I could desperately use right now. Still boxing DVDs to sell off, for financial and space reasons.

Thanks to a good friend like Mike, he has let me store a storage unit full of stuff at his place so that's one less bill I have to pay right now. And my girlfriend has been supportive in the sense she's nagging less even though she's working twice as hard now.

Well, thanks again to every one of you for the get well wishes.

Hey, I found this forum! Thanks for changing the link, I went to the old one and it said Board not available, or something along those lines. I went to Mike's site and found a link to "Movie Madness" which I see is a replacement of Movie Talk, why the need to change the name and address?

Anyway, lots has happened since I last posted, way back in 2012, wow seems like an eternity!

I finally sold my remaining DVD collection, upgraded my favorites to Blu-ray and recently bought a few DVD sets so.I guess I can't get away from this hobby. As long as I don't end up filling up my home with these plastic discs again it's OK.

Early 2013, I took a job working as a financial adjuster at a local bank, that doesn't require standing for long periods of time, my leg hasn't been the same since the accident. Unfortunately the job, like my former one is time consuming, which explains why I haven't been online in so long.

Fast forward to last November... I was blessed with the birth of my son, Joseph, named after me in case you didn't know. My fiancee (we're not married yet) took a pay cut and took a night job at the local 24hr Walmart so she could take care of the baby during the day and I could take care of him at night. Unfortunately this means we only see each other maybe an hour everyday and on my days off which seem far apart.

Due to the job and the new baby, my movie watching has taken a cut. I've been watching lots of Thomas the train engine and some old Teletubbies tapes my parents found at a garage sale and gave him.

Just thought I'd add that I'll still stop by once in awhile, although I'm not sure how often I'll have time to post.

-Hawkeye (Joe)

edit: I tried uploading a baby picture but it says the file size is too large? Its compressed under 150 KB

Welcome back Joe, CONGRATS on the new job and baby! Can't wait to finally meet little Joey. B-)
As for the picture dilemma, as long as the file is under 200KB, it should upload. Make sure it's a compatible image file (jpg, gif, png).

FYI, my summer movie night series is coming up, I've been shopping for a projector and receiver as I plan on projecting movies on the side of my garage, under the stars this year. I'm planning some family friendly flicks, so you and your family are welcome to join us. Make sure you join the mailing list on Mike's Cinema for updates.

Just an update if anyone was curious what happened to Joe(hawkeye24), he was laid off just after the new year after the bank he worked for was bought out by a national company which eliminated his position. Following that, he started gambling again and lost everything he had. When they were evicted from their apartment his fiance took their baby and split, he's been battling depression and back living in his parents' basement and working at McDonald's part time since. He told me he attempted to kill himself three times last month.
