Went out with my co-workers to a restaurant for our Christmas lunch. Had a Angus Burger with fries. Good size patty and the fries were big.

Had chicken with potatoes and carrots that I made using my slow cooker. Got the slow cooker a few months and have been using it fairly often to make meals. Throw your ingredients in the slow cooker before going to work and your meal is ready by the time you get home. You can smell the aroma as soon as you get in the door. Mmmmm...

I've thought about getting a slow cooker but I'm a bit apprehensive about leaving kitchen appliances on while I'm not home.

That's understandable because I was too, at first. My friends and colleagues at work who own slow cookers assured me it was perfectly safe. When I got mine, I initially used it on the weekend when I was at home so I could monitor it while my meal was cooking. As the name suggests, it cooks slowly over a long period of time, and uses very low heat so is safe. There are only 4 settings: off, low, high and warm. If you cook on low, your meal will be ready in about 8 hours. High, cuts the cooking time in half, and warm is used to just keep the food warm. It actually uses less energy than if you cooked using your stove top or oven. If you are thinking of getting one, just check the internet for more information. I love my slow cookers. I now own two, a smaller one and a larger one. I mostly use the larger one. I wished I bought one earlier.

Slow cookers are also known as Crock-Pots probably because they were the first to make them. That's the brand I have but which is the best may depend on what you need because a number of companies make them, come in different sizes, manual to programmable and in different price ranges. You can google slow cookers to find tests done to determine the best. As for recipes, depends on what you like: chicken wings, thighs, breasts, pork chops, pork roasts, ribs, etc, enter slow cooker recipes for whatever in searching online and you will get a bunch of recipes plus videos for ideas and suggestions, anywhere from 3 ingredients to more. I am always searching online for different recipes to try out.

Went to a local restaurant and had a chicken club wrap with fries. Best chicken club wrap I ever had.
