Often Imitated, Never Duplicated

The current mechanic of no mana regen is a bad design concept. You shouldn't want to make mana difficult to come by. This is a fantasy game where magic is a central concept. Worse, by not giving mana regen to everyone, its gonna make everyone carry additional items to circumvent the problem? why do we all need to make lv10 conjurers? It would be more effective to limit mana regeneration in and out of combat. I feel that this mechanic is so pointless, because there are going to be multiple ways to restore mana, so by limiting mana regen your increasing the cost (value) of magic. this will not make people cast fewer spells, this will make people spend more on crafting potions or partying near aeyther or requiring every group have class A, who can refresh mana. I don't see any way to effectively implement this game mechanic and I would welcome it if i thoguht it could be done without limiting the fun factor of the game. What i've learned over the years about game design is that in MMO's you shouldn't limit the players, you should provide incentive. if you want to limit the access to magic then why not make a debuff that activates after 4 damage spells are consecutively cast and the debuff gets stronger with each consecutive spell cast after that. I think buffs and debuffs shouldn't be included in the debuff. with this mechanic mages will be forced to switch tactics thus taking better care of the teammates and using their magic more effectively since the amount of direct damage spells they can use at full effectiveness is limited. |

So in order to have mana regen, we need to have conjurer to level 10 in all our setups? Is that about the gist of it? What do you get at level 10 for conjurer that allows mana regen, and do all classes need this or only caster classes? I.E. do say gladiators, marauders, and lancers need it, or only conjurer/thermatauge, etc? |

You get some mana refresh ability at rank 10 conj. (or somewhere around that number) Classes like glad that have mp based abilities should get this ability. As far as the other melee classes I am not too sure if they would benefit from this ability. But do understand that abilities learned from one class can be used as another class, of course with some sort of restriction. ( I.E. increased cool down timer and/or increased stamina or tp cost.) |
