![]() Royal Marginian News Agency Tax rate to stay around 40% The average tax rate is expected to stay around 40%, say the Council of State of Marginia. The Council of State shared details of the budget frames in its press briefing yesterday. Tom Tomson, the economical adviser, told the King aims to be careful about the tax rate to make sure employment can be considered profitable. –We're never getting back to the tax rates exceeding 50% that we once used to have, Tomson promised. –The people don't want that. Besides, the local administration is under pressure to raise taxes due to increasing costs; the Kingdom must compensate for this. The Industry Workers' Union stressed in its statement today that raising the tax rate would call for heavy raises in wages. The tax rate was at its all-time low at 35% recently but has been steadily rising.

![]() Royal Marginian News Agency Marginia allows visa waiver In the future, people may travel to Marginia from some countries without having to go through background-checks. It was announced today that His Majesty King Bartholomew signed the Visa Waiver Act. –It may benefit our country in the form of increased tourism, told the Royal Court's spokesperson. At first, only the countries belonging to the same region, United Republic of Nations, may be accepted to visa waiver. This is to minimise the risks associated with free travel, and to maximise the benefits. –I think it's all wrong, comments Lieutenant General Peter Peterson of the Border Guard. –The world is an increasingly restless place, and now this! I'm afraid something terrible may happen if we let just about anybody in. One of the authors of the Visa Waiver Act, Ethan Gustavson from the Liberal Party, doesn't believe in risks of such magnitude. –Let's face it: Marginia isn't a very attractive tourism destination, he said. –It's great that His Majesty signed the Act, he's showing that he wants Marginia to move on to the new millennium. As long as the authorities co-operate internationally to stop criminals from taking advantage, the risks are well under control. |

![]() Royal Marginian News Agency Visa waiver starts between Marginia and Seycostein The Republic of Seycostein became the first country to join the Visa Waiver Programme that Marginia started two days ago. This means that Seycosteinian citizens are allowed to travel to Marginia without visa, effective immediately. The Seycostein Post reported that Ms. Akasia, the Seycosteinian Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed the country's participation in the programme today. –His Majesty is thrilled that the Visa Waiver Programme yielded results so quickly, on the first weekday after the programme was announced, told Irene of Ronald, the King's foreign relations adviser. RMNA asked travellers' opinions on the visa waiver at the international airport of Castellonia. ![]() –Wonderful, this means we may travel more freely abroad in the future, said Mr. Hector Paulson and his newly wedded wife Johanna who were travelling to the region of Mira for their honeymoon. –We are eager to travel, but it feels so frustrating to find that visas must be applied for, it's such a long and complicated process. Foreigners travelling to Marginia have similar thoughts. Marcus Black, a reporter from Confectrix, had a long and heavy visa application process to enter our country. –If even reporters can't get in without a visa, it makes Marginia look isolated and obscure, Mr. Black contemplated. –Visa waiver is certainly necessary to change that. The border guards at the airport have a hard time adjusting to the sudden change of rules. –The next flight from Seycostein lands tomorrow morning. I'm sure all its passengers still have visas, but once the first traveller comes without one, how am I going to remember to let him through? a border guard wondered with a smile on her face. –But I'm sure I'll get used to it. |

![]() Royal Marginian News Agency Analysis: What saved Marginia? A declaration of war, an ally turncoat, a protective neighbour, and two revolutions. All this in only two days. Our region went through an unprecedented conflict, but who should be commended for Marginia's survival? There are many views on that. Many people are having a hard time believeing it, but the official fact is, the conflict started from Leikistan feeling intimidated by the newly-started regional Visa Waiver Programme. Was it a misjudgment from King Bartholomew to approve this visa-excemption? –No, no, on the contrary! insists Ethan Gustavson, a Liberal Member of Parliament and known proponent of the visa waiver. –A number of countries in United Republic of Nations were accepting travellers without a visa already before we started the visa waiver programme. There's no way Leikistan would've started the war for that. I'm sure we haven't been told the whole truth... yet. After the war had been declared, diplomacy became a priority. Negotiations were going on around the clock. It's been speculated that this was a challenge for King Bartholomew who had little experience of foreign relations and wars. A high-ranking military official, commenting on condition of anonymity, says His Majesty did extremely well given the circumstances. –His Majesty could keep his cool throughout the conflict. His moves were carefully premeditated, and fear didn't stop him from making tough choices, the anonymous official says. –Actually, we can thank King Bartholomew for saving us, says Dr. John Johnson, Professor of International Relations at the Royal Academy of Marginia. –He was holding all the strings, even though one of them escaped him to everyone's surprise. The escapee Professor Johnson is referring to was Brick Country. The nation was first pretending to be an ally but then surprisingly took sides with Leikistan. Brick Country's immense army was thought to determine how the war would end. But the real determinant came out of the blue, as both Leikistan's and Brick Country's heads-of-states were sentenced and impeached. –We never thought it could work, admits the Marginian Parliament's Attorney-General Jenny of Thomason, who filed the complaint against President Hanz Gustav of Leikistan in Leikistan's Supreme Court. –We were filing the complaint for the sake of the principle, but we would never have dreamt of the Supreme Court impeaching the country's own head-of-state! ![]() Attorney-General Jenny of Thomason was surprised by the impeachment of Hanz Gustav. Dana of Ethanson from the Marginian-Fraissian Befriending Society (MF-BS) wishes to remind everybody that Marginia wouldn't have lasted without Fraisse keeping the peace with its sophisticated missile defence system. –It's Fraisse who deserves all the praise for our survival, Dana of Ethanson says. The surprising end to the war inspired King Bartholomew to thank God in his radio address yesterday: –This miracle of peace strenghtens our faith in the Holy Trinity to whom nothing is impossible, King Bartholomew announced. He was so modest as to reject any praise for the happy end. |

![]() Royal Marginian News Agency Monarchy to be restored in Brick Country The Brick Country official broadcaster announced yesterday that the country would be ruled by a monarch in the future. The previous President of Brick Country, Ronkan Yonhap, had been found guilty of war crimes and impeached. Brick Country had been a kingdom until January 2012. It was Judge Mike Migregor of the Federal Court of Justice who decided that the old form of government should be restored. Bartholomew, King of Marginia, told that he finds the change "most welcome." He thinks that the horrible war proves that a republican President isn't the right head-of-state to rule Brick Country. King Bartholomew has been invited to the coronation of king-elect George VI. The Royal Court announced today that he won't be participating due to the recent war and safety concerns. King Bartholomew wishes to start anew in the international relations with Brick Country, and he wishes all the best to the new king. |

![]() Royal Marginian News Agency Brick Country king coronated already George VI was coronated King of Brick Country yesterday, to the world's surprise. No foreign diplomats nor heads-of-states participated in the celebration, because the date of the coronation hadn't been announced to the foreign guests. The Marginian Ambassador to Brick Country, Anne of Jacobson, was slightly disappointed by missing the ceremony. –I had bought a fine dress already for the occasion! Anne of Jacobson sighs over the telephone. –I don't understand. At first, the coronation was supposed to be on Saturday. Then, it was postponed to Wednesday. But eventually, it was held on Sunday. Anne of Jacobson has been in her post in Brick Country's capital VC for several days now, so she could have participated any time, had she been invited. The sudden change of plans must have been even more humiliating to foreign heads-of-states who were intending to attend the coronation Wednesday. Scandalously, Her Majesty Queen Excelthalia of Sagoica had already arrived in VC last Friday and had to return home since the coronation was postponed. An official of the Marginian Foreign Relations Administration, commenting on condition of anonymity, says that Brick Country's actions are indicating a dark turn in the country's development. –As the war ended and Brick Country became a Kingdom, it was hoped that this would start an era of peace and international understanding. But now it seems that Brick Country is disrespecting its neighbours, feeding nationalism among its people by rejecting foreigners, the anonymous official said. The Royal Court of Marginia refused to comment except by saying that it "clearly was the right choice that His Majesty King Bartholomew chose not to participate in the coronation." |

Two Marginian athletes, Joel Olofson, 31, and Samuel Samuelson, 24, will be participating in the marathon. RMNA got to change a few words with a couple of tourists heading for Brick Country, Hector Paulson and his wife Johanna. –We totally believe that Joel and Samuel have a good chance of winning, Hector Paulson says. –Even if they won't, we'll be there in the audience waving our fine Marginian flag. The official representative of the Marginian Crown in the BC Games will be ambassador Anne of Jacobson. |
