First let me start off by saying I'm very proud of the 1st season at FAST. In the span of four months Randal, Jeremy, and myself went from talking about something better than RRL and I think we suceeded. The addition of Corbin Huffman to the admin staff completed the process of being able to manage all the 1st that all of us, including drivers, have gone through together. I believe Jeremy has created a very impressive website, and trust me version 2 is even better! It seems that Randal carries much of the day to day communications between admins, drivers, and teams. Corbin is our in race official, which, honestly, is a job I don't really care for. For myself, I try to mediate all of the goings on between series, admins, and drivers as well as maintain the race server. Along with that responsibility, at times I feel it I have to "be the old guy" who helps us work through problems. Unfortunately, we have had our fair share of growing pains, OK lets call them what they are...problems. I have made a decision that we are going to hit the "reset" for season two. All penalties carried over from the previous season are now rescinded, with the except that the two drivers called to the red truck will carry probation for the 1st half of the season. That being said, I want EVERONE to understand Season #2 will be different. I expect drivers to be courteous to one another and respect the admin staff. Profanity and name calling or challenging admins will not be tolerated, PERIOD! We will have racing issues guys, but we have got to remember we came here to race and have fun. If I wreck you, its because I couldn't wreck myself to miss you. Believe it or not that is the attitude most of us have, keep it civil and remember it is a computer game, a great computer game. What it is not is life or death, it's not high-school, and it DOES NOT have to have drama. We have enough of that in life, let's skip it while "having fun." Admins are also going to be expected to maintain a higher degree of maturity and decision making. We will police ourselves and encourage drivers to help us make the league better. Decision will be made by ALL admins and no rulings will be posted until all four Admin have had input on the decision. I expect our admins to respect drivers and team owners and I, personally, will enforce that demand. There will be some new very clear rules and penalties for violations so there are no question why there was a penalty and what it is. We will reduce some rules to bring more racing and less rule following. All need to understand I want this second season to be better than the 1st. I really don't think the racing needs to get better, just the attitudes at times. I want all of us to have fun, but at the risk of sounding like a threat, I WILL NOT fight drama this season. Come to have fun, leave your hurt pride at home, and lets just race. Dale |

I think Dale hit it on the nail and I agree with him on that but there is something about the attitudes that I want to add. The main issue that has been bugging me as of late is how some act like they are the race winner and/or champion before something is over. They come in with the attitude that it is theirs and everyone else is competing for 2nd. I've seen several instances this past season where guys were upset cause they didn't win and treated it as someone took it away from them. Some of the accusations that have occured I believe have occured because someone treated the race as if they were the winner before it ever began. That's something I would like to see change for Season #2. To me, if you come in with an attitude like that you're disrespecting everyone else in the league. Your skill level may be better then others but the win isn't guaranteed to you anymore then it is to the guy running in last place each week. If it's guaranteed for you to win as some have acted, then what is the point of running the race then? Half the fun is not knowing where you're going to finish and having to work for something. I never get a chance to compete for the win but I can tell you some of the battles I've had with Rich and Nathan are more fun to me then a win would be anyways. As far as the admin maturity goes, I will admit that last week I didn't show that. I was in the wrong to treat Jeffery in the manner that I did and I have been haunted by that for the last week. As Dale said about the drama part of it, some of the things going on, some of the pressure put on us, it makes it more stressful then it has to be. My comments last week, which I removed when another official pointed it out to me that I was doing wrong, came out of stress, that the drama that had built up over the 2-3 days after the race and everything that was going on caused me to snap and for that I am sorry to everyone. The main thing with the league to me is get back to basics. As an admin and as I said about being stressed out as of late I think back to the way it was at the beginning of the season and it was fun for me to be a part of running this league. As Dale said, we have something to be proud of here. As of late though, it's felt more like a chore, that we'll go 2-3 weeks without a problem and then someone acts up and we have to go into cleanup mode and deal with everyone snapping at us. That's not good for anyone and to be honest I don't like the idea of thinking we're overdue for another problem every few weeks. But I will say this, I am proud of what this league is and I think it's time to focus on the good. It brings me joy to see things like a driver getting his first online win and to do that in one of our league races (Nathan). It brings me joy to see a guy like Buddy win the championship. It's things like that we should be focused on, not what someone else did wrong and how to penalize them. Those will happen either way. But don't let it ruin the tone of the league cause someone does something, that focus on the good things someone does and congratulate them. |
