Superb, especially the kicking of the fourth wall in the genitalia. Can't wait to see if Jaffar and Marcus psynergystically raze the city, or have a pleasant lunch together. Update soon!

Chapter 29

Jaffar took a couple steps back in the elevator, not saying a word. He held his katana steady, staring at his two opponents in front of him. The jazz music inside the elevator speakers played during the silent face-off.

The doors started to close, but Marcus jumped inside and clashed swords with the mysterious ex-colonel. Marcus reached for a low blow to the knees next, which Jaffar blocked as well, staying on defense.

Bosco stood outside helplessly, the elevator was too small for three people to do battle in. Bosco held the elevator door open with a single hand as his former commander and current commander were brawling. “U-Uh, sir, should I go get help?”

“Naaah! Me and Jaffar are just having a little fun, that’s all! It’s how we say hello ♥” Marcus landed another blow on Jaffar’s katana with his own. “Take the stairs, I’ll see you over at Dudealadude’s! I might be a little late though!”

“Yes…sir.” Bosco said, quite unsure of those orders. He released his grip on the elevator door, and it slowly closed. He heard more clanging inside, and some grunting. He raced over to the door which lead to the stairs, and made his way down.

Inside the elevator, the jazz music started to get more upbeat, congruent to the fight. Jaffar was forced with his back against the wall, and his back pressed against all of the floor buttons. Marcus swiped his sword high, across to Jaffar’s head. Jaffar ducked the blow, then side-stepped away and came in for a blow to Marcus’s side. The Anti-boon leader blocked it swiftly with his sword, then stared at the buttons that Jaffar had just lit up, “Wow! It’s like a Christmas tree!” He said in a childish awe.

Jaffar remained silent, striking at Marcus a few more times. One sliced part of his shirt on the shoulder, but only gave Marcus a minor cut. He giggled as he used his water psynergy to heal it, while at the same time attacking Jaffar.

The two were in a small box, but still managed to get down their fancy footwork. Most of it involved jumping to one corner to the other, and dodging horizontal blows to the head. Some were close calls, not due to sloppy skills, but because of them being thrown off from the sudden stops in the elevator on each floor down. After a couple close encounters though, Jaffar and Marcus both had easily memorized the timing and physics of the elevator’s stop and go. Marcus was quite pleased to see that his rival hadn’t gotten any worse than when he had first met him.

Jaffar didn’t really give a crap. He started to use his psynergy. Marcus could tell, with the ripples flowing through his body. Marcus narrowed his eyes and spoke in an angry, but skill flamboyant tone, “What? Psynergy? But this place is much too small to do anything!”

Jaffar didn’t seem to execute any psynergy, at least to Marcus. The ripples through his body were constant, and they were still slamming each other’s swords at each other. But, Jaffar’s reactions were getting sharper…Marcus smiled, he quickly remembered this technique of Jaffar’s. “Don’t think that you can just easily read my mind like that, Jaffy-boy! I’m not that easy!”

Marcus focused himself, and used psynergy on his own. He executed no spell, but Jaffar shut down his own flow of psynergy. He knew Marcus was right, once he had gotten his guard up, Marcus’s mind was fairly tough to get into. Even Leon, one who excelled at mind-reading, could not be able to break into Marcus’s mind unless if the man was asleep.

Finally, the elevator dinged open on ground floor. Jaffar’s back was against the doors, and he slid out slowly, keeping his eyes and sword in Marcus’s direction. He remembered he was now in public, however. He withdrew his sword, back into his braggart without a word.

Marcus smiled and did the same. He wiped some dust off a sleeve and halted his constant psynergy, “Started to break into a sweat! Nothing to start the day off like good sparring!”

“Sparring?” Jaffar said with his tone raising slightly. He was planning on trying to kill Marcus, but never got a good shot. But why did Marcus need to know that? “Anyway. I believe we have no…grudges or anything of the sort against each other?”

“Why, of course not! You’re the best buddy a guy could ask for! Though I can’t speak for Zefy and everyone else…”

“Because I believe that my room is located nearby your own in this hotel.” Jaffar informed him. Marcus looked a little shocked, “Oh, and you have friends? Yes? My, my.”

Bosco exited the stair-way, and into the lobby, panting. He reached the two, and withdrew his katana. He looked up at Marcus while putting his hands on his knees and breathing heavily, “S…sir?”

“Ah, Bosco. Good timing. Could you do me a favor and go to Dudealadude’s and order a to-go order for a stack of pancakes with bacon and a thing of milk?” He tossed the boy a small sack of gold, “Buy whatever you like. I gotta catch up with Jaffy-boy.”

“Um…sure, sir…” Bosco nodded. His orders sure were different than the ones Jaffar had given him when he was once a private. When he walked past Jaffar, he spoke, “Nice to see you, sir.”

The two’s bandanas were of opposite colors, white and black. They also looked identical, except with Jaffar’s positioned over his right eye, and Bosco’s over his forehead. Jaffar didn’t bother to turn around when he replied in his rough voice, “Likewise.”

When Bosco walked off for the exit of the hotel, Marcus looked at Jaffar with a simple smile. He hit the button of the elevator, opening the doors.

“Going up?” Patting his braggart, he looked fairly satisfied – but wanted more.

---/

The two groups that were enemies moments ago are currently occupying Marcus’s apartment room. All excluding Bosco, getting his own food and Marcus’s. Leon and Garet had recently returned, to find their former military group in the apartment room across from their own. Garet let himself in after Leon, and closed and locked the door.

He looked around the room. Before him was the small living room, consisting of a single tanned couch with a coffee table, and a TV in front of it. The couch was occupied by Zephyr, watching the television that was playing the news.

Nothing fancy on the wall except for a couple cheap paintings, and Leon and Mind Bomber leaning against them cluelessly. To the right of the living room was the kitchen. A small bar with a couple stools, refrigerator, freezer, sink, cabinets…they had it set. Garet found it a little surprising how clean the room was. Pendant was sitting at one, looking somewhat nervous on what she should say.

To the left of the living room was a small hall with a small bathroom, and a bedroom beside it. Garet realized how different this room was from his own, which only had a few beds and a bathroom, plus some furniture. Garet peeked inside the bedroom to see Bob inside a closet with a computer and other specs of technology.

Marcus was also in the room, looking over Bob’s shoulder and examining the computer screen. He seemed to understand some of it, but clearly not all of it. Bob was pointing a lot of things out to the Anti-Boon leader.

“Garet.”

The Lt. Colonel turned around from looking inside the bedroom. Jaffar stood behind him, with the same serious attitude. Garet saluted, but Jaffar waved it off. The ex-Colonel no longer cared for the formalities, “Leon, get over here.”

Leon was glad he only had to be bored and clueless for half a minute. He mimicked Garet and saluted as he walked over, Jaffar waving him off as well. When Leon came within normal earshot distance, Jaffar continued, “Here is your briefing while the two of you were gone. When I arrived here at the hotel, I had met Marcus at said place. We have come to a temporally truce between our two groups that we lead.”

“Permission to speak sir, if I may.” Leon interrupted him.

“Granted.”

“Ok. Let’s see if I heard what I just did…ahem.” He cleared his throat, then blurted out, “WHAT!? A truce? With Anti-Boon?” Leon said with his mouth wide open, “I thought you hated Marcus’s guts, sir. Plus that and the guy is the military’s #1 enemy…we’re working with terrorists, sir!”

“That’s the same way Neo and Major Pendant felt – and probably still do.” Jaffar replied, “But when the Major explained to me her message that Lieutenant Hystrix gave her, I knew that working with Anti-Boon’s remains would be needed.”

“And that message is, sir?…” Garet asked, raising an eyebrow.

“According to Lieutenant Hystrix, he had discovered information that the current Military is corrupted. Lieutenant Colonel Gojira and more importantly, Colonel Reaver are boons.”

Leon and Garet both nodded slowly. After a few seconds of silence, they realized that was it. Garet used one of his fingers as a cue-tip in an ear, cleaning it out, “I’m sorry, sir. I thought you just said that the Lieutenant said that they were boons…” He said with a light chuckle.

“You heard correctly, Garet.”

“Oh. AND WHY SHOULD WE CARE.” Leon roared at Jaffar, “Hystrix just called the two of them names on his deathbed. A weird last-liner, but…is it that serious?”

“You do not understand what boons are. They are not simply names that Marcus and the rest of Anti-Boon call people they do not like.” Jaffar started to explain the odd term, “Boons were a project that the Military had going underground. Only high-ranked officers knew of it, so I really doubt that either of you would know of it. Both of you were probably only Sergeants or Privates then…this was when I was the Lieutenant Colonel. I didn’t know much of the project myself, Marcus and Mr. Bob here know it much more than I do.”

“Well, what were the basics of it?” Asked Garet.

“Basics? This goes with your briefing, as I had already explained it to both the Major and Neo, by the way. Project Boon was a project assigned by Rusticious, the legendary Commander-General of the Fef Army years and years ago. Project Boon was extremely secretive, not even I should have known about it. Hell, even the other Senators didn’t know of it…but with my fellow Lieutenant Colonel, Eiji, we both discovered the presence of the project.

Project Boon in a nutshell is really a clone army that was designed and led by Mr. Bob here. Rusticious discovered Mr. Bob’s talent, and had him start a project to build an enormous army to defend Fef. Which in my opinion, was really just to build an army that can take over other countries such as Fehp and Fehs, but I wasn’t big on those details…

Boons are fairly dangerous, and look exactly like humans. You can’t tell the difference simply by looking at them, naturally, that is…Marcus, Zephyr, and Mind Bomber wre implanted with devices that allow them to tell what is boon and what is not.

Some high-ranked boons have special abilities, like that one we met back at the club, the gang-lord, Yzarc. He had the ability to wipe out psynergy, but his hand-to-hand combat was weak…not as strong as he should’ve been.”

“Really? But how’d they get loose like that, then?” Garet asked.

“After a few years of research and development the boons just broke loose. They have minds of their own. Their intelligence matches our own, they wanted freedom. It’s natural. Bound to happen. When that day happened, it took everything for the Military to cover it all up. All the scientists were disbanded and ran off.

They somehow managed to cover it up with no one knowing except for I, Eiji, General Rock, who at the time was a Colonel…the Senators also found out. With that, Rusticious discharged himself and disappeared without a word.

However, with all the wars that he had won in the past, he was honored as a Hero. Lots of rumors popped up after his leave, some saying that he was assassinated…most of them leaving him as dead. The Senators promoted General Rock to his current position, and then promoted Eiji to Colonel. However, it was discovered that he had access to the Boon Project a few weeks into his career. The Senators didn’t trust him, even with all the badges he wore. They were right, Eiji wanted to find all boons and kill them. He wanted to make it public. The Senators wouldn’t allow that, they hired an assassin to kill him.

That assassin was I. I was to kill Eiji, with my position of Lieutenant Colonel at stake, and more than likely my life…they never told me why. They said some bull that he was corrupted and wanted to take over the military…some just cause so I could get him. I knew he wasn’t like that, so I let him go. Eiji ran off and thanked me, getting some poor hobo as his body and staged his own death. He made an Alias years after I was promoted to his position as Colonel. His Alias was Marcus, and he led and still leads the Anti-Boon group, created not by him but by Mr. Bob.”

“Hey, you getting all of this?” Jaffar woke up Leon, who was leaning against the wall, sleeping. Leon snorted when he woke up, not looking very alert at all. “Oh, mn. Myes, myes…” He placed one hand on Jaffar’s forehead, “I’ll just learn via osmosis.”

He used wind psynergy to read Jaffar’s mind, which the Colonel allowed. He blocked out all of his thoughts except for the history lesson that he had just given to Leon and Garet. Garet slapped his hand off though, “Y’know, it’s really not fair that you can do that! Some of us need to pay attention to this stuff!”

“Whoa, boss. You never told us about that Valkyrie thingy…” Leon said, sleepily, ignoring Garet’s complaint.

“That’s confidential. Marcus and Bob are in the middle of finding that out right now, and what the boons are planning.”

“Boons? Planning?” Garet and Leon said at the same time.

“When Senator Psio was nearly assassinated, that Turban man was a boon. He isn’t alone. He must be working with Reaver and Gojira.” Jaffar said, “Again, this is but a theory, but it all fits. The boons are planning on taking over Fef, a natural feeling. Desire. Greed. They wish to wipe out all of us humans as well.”

“Holy crap.” Garet said, “Isn’t there a self-destruction button or something?”

“That’s basically what the Valkyrie was. A boon killer. But Mr. Bob lost it to Rusticious, who is God knows where now…” Jaffar scratched the back of his head, “We’d make this known to the public but they wouldn’t believe us. Plus that and there are bounties on all of our heads. The Major may get one later for desertion. Our only choice right now is to aid Marcus and Mr. Bob to wipe out all boons, or really the boon pulling the strings.”

“This is quite an earful…we missed all of this while eating breakfast?” Garet asked. Leon fell asleep on the wall again.

“I briefed fairly fast to the others. You two are just special enough to get my lengthy version.”

“Greaaat…”

JediSSJ was up on the top floor of his gigantic building for his company, the most powerful and wealthy in the city of Fef. With it, JediSSJ was appointed one of the Senators of Fef. The Senator that looked over the economy, which essentially, gave him even more power. But everyone knew of him as a respectable and trustworthy person, so there were few objections when he was offered the position, which he accepted graciously.

He sat in his black leather chair at his desk, sipping a cup of coffee. He looked out his large window-wall, over-looking all of Fef during the beautiful morning. He smiled, today would be a good day.

On his desk, beside the computer screen were many frames with pictures of his family, wife and kids…his pleasure in life. The phone beside it rang. Jedi put it on speakerphone, “Yup.”

“Mr. Jedi, you have a visitor.” His secretary spoke, on the other side of the wall in his office. Jedi glanced at his computer screen to get a visual of his visitor. A friendly face, with a friend. Jedi nodded, “Thanks, Lyn. Please send him in.”

The strong doors that separated Jedi’s office from the rest of the floor opened electronically. Two men stepped in, and the doors slowly closed. Jedi stood up at their arrival, “Ah, Colonel Reaver! Psio! What brings you two here?”

“I have some…business to discuss with you, Jedi.” Reaver said, taking a device out of his jacket.

“Um, ok. Psio, out of the hospital already?…”

“Jedi, I have your wife and children hostage.” Reaver quickly said, hitting a button on the device.

“W-What!? What’d you say!?” Jedi asked, believing he had not just heard what came out of Reaver’s mouth correctly.

“Look at your computer monitor if you believe otherwise.”

Jedi did. There he saw his computer open up a live connection on its own. It opened a live video, in his household. There was his wife and two young children, in the kitchen. They were preparing for lunch, looking fairly normal and healthy. Jedi didn’t get it, “How did you get a camera—“

“That’s beside the point. They look normal now, correct?” Reaver pressed another button. The screen went to infra-red, showing the heat in the room with different colors. Jedi noticed the children and his wife had a small, rectangular purple shape on their back. It looked out of place.

“Notice the purple thing on them? Those are bombs.”

“W-What!?” Jedi looked stunned, “How’d you—!!”

“A magician never reveals his tricks. That purple aura looks familiar to you, doesn’t it? It should. It’s noob. Noob. The stuff that boons have in their hearts. When boons have had enough…” Reaver snapped his fingers, and waved at Jedi in a child-like manner, “They go boom.”

“I am well aware what noob is! It was a miracle that boons didn’t asplode when they escaped on Project Boon…but how-how did you come across with this high-classified information!? You were no more than a Sergeant or Major when that took place—“

“Like I said…a magician never reveals his tricks.”

“Jedi, you should do what he says.” Psio said, looking concerned. “I’m sorry.”

Jedi grit his teeth. He looked at the screen, then back at Reaver, “W…what do you want?”

“Haha. Oh, what do I want…” Reaver started to crack up, ruffling his hair with his hand, “I want it all.”

Chapter 30

“Hm?” Leon sat straight up on the couch, after dozing off. Neo looked up from reading a magazine while sitting on a barstool at the kitchen with Pendant, “Hm?”

“GR-GWAR-NYEEEEEH~” Leon twitched and twitched, moving every muscle in his body. As if he was having a mini-seizure. Pendant found it quite disturbing, “W-What’s he doing?”

“He does this when he gets a good signal from a high-classed military call.” Neo explained.

“Good God, what else can he do? His Wind Psynergy must be abnormal…”

“Leon, what is it?” Neo asked.

“Beep…beep.” Leon stopped twitching and spoke with his eyes wide open and his mouth barley moving. Zephyr switched his attention from the television to staring at the odd bird.

“Crrrrsh…nerk, nerk. General Rock, an urgent matter has occurred. Meeting at City Hall now. Come ASAP. Over and out.” Leon then made a clicking sound with his lips, and flopped back onto the corner of the couch, sleeping like a baby again.

“How brief.” Neo rolled his eyes. He, Zephyr, and Pendant were the only ones in the room to have heard Leon’s message. Or so they thought – Jaffar stepped out of the bedroom from speaking with Marcus and BobTheTomato. His look was the same, serious and solid. He glanced at Leon, then at Neo. He gave a small sigh, then walked up to the couch.

---/

Rock entered City Hall, one of the largest buildings in Fef ground-wise. It was nighttime, and he had recently gotten a calling from the other Senators to have an urgent meeting in the conference room. Rock walked down the hallways towards the room, taking out a handkerchief and wiping the badges over his heart. How sudden, he thought. To make a meeting soon after he had gotten out of the hospital? He was surprised on the recovery of Psio…the man had taken much more damage than he had, least he thought. And Psio got out around the same as he! Boy, maybe Psio should be transferred to being the head of the Military…Rock wouldn’t mind it. All Psio did was loaf around books all day, how hard could that be?

He soon arrived at the large double doors with two military privates standing by the doors. Rock saluted after they, “At ease.”

One of them opened one of the large doors, allowing entry for the Commander. He entered, with the door closing behind him. This was the same room Jaffar had entered to countless times as his days of the Colonel of Fef’s central military. And the end result was usually him walking out with Rock criticizing him, while also complimenting him. Odd, it was. How Jaffar managed to be a great Colonel, but whenever he made a mistake, it was always costly.

Rock snapped his fingers to turn the lights on in the dark room. With the help of the light, he could now see the round table in the middle of the room, taking the place of the chair that Jaffar had sat on during his lectures. The shadows took place around the room, however. The walls could not be seen.

Jedi, Psio, and Eaichu were all sat down before him. Rock found it strange, why would they be hiding in the dark like that?

Before he could think of the answer or even question it, Reaver at the other end of the table, stood up, “Nice to see you could make it, Commander-General.” He saluted.

Rock saluted back, “Was a little late, I apologize. But you have to admit, it was quite short-notice…the message you sent me didn’t even say what the meeting was for.”

“Quite confidential, sir.” Reaver sat back down.

Rock walked over to a free seat in front of him and took it, placing his hands on the table, “Colonel, why are you here? I was under the impression that this was a meeting for the Senators of Fef.”

“You’re correct, but it also involves me, sir. That’s what my messenger told me…”

“…I see. What about, then? Seems my fellow comrades know more about this than I do.”

“General, Colonel Reaver has done an outstanding job as his job of a Colonel over the past few weeks, do you not agree?” Psio asked.

“Er…to tell you the truth, Senator…Colonel Reaver hasn’t been what I would call outstanding to my standards. He’s been a fine Colonel, don’t get me wrong, but his career hasn’t been perfect and mistake-free. Consider the escape of Marcus, Zephyr, and BobtheTomato…this has put the city in danger. It’s what the past Colonel had tried to prevent. The current Colonel has also had a breach of security in the Military Base, with the consequence being the death of a fine Lieutenant.” Rock cleared his throat, “Although he did manage to get his men to prevent the past Colonel and the Turban Man to terminate you at the Great Library, he himself didn’t get into action, according to the report. The Colonel is doing his job. If he managed to prevent any of the past incidents, then he would have gone above and beyond…but he didn’t. I wouldn’t label him as outstanding just yet.”

“Why, you’re criticizing a new Colonel…new to the job of commanding such a large number of soldiers.” Eaichu started to throw in his two cents, “But General, wouldn’t the blame of the past incidents you mentioned fall on your shoulders instead?”

“My own?” Rock asked, fairly surprised Eaichu would even think that, “While I do command the Colonel…the execution of Marcus and Zephyr was his own command. His own sloppy way of that execution resulted in the escape of three, rather, four dangerous men. The breaching of a military base? He takes care of the base. He is the one who should be on top of the security of that base, while I myself look over him and also other military matters, like homeland security…yes, responsibility does fall on my shoulders…but…why are we playing this blame game? I know this makes me look like I’m trying to avoid the question, but it’s quite immature, Eaichu…”

“Is it immature of me to care about the safety of my own city, Commander?”

“Like I said…the execution was not under my decision. While I could have prevented it, unless you forgot, Senator, I was under care in the hospital with a psynergic bullet stuck in me. I was never told of the execution, it was quickly put on the schedule and quickly executed.” Rock then looked around the table, mildly confused, “But what is the point of this meeting? I doubt it is to simply criticize Colonel Reaver’s rookie career as a Colonel right in front of him.”

“Well, if you really want to get to the point, Commander…” Eaichu started, then looked around the table, making eye contact with all of the other Senators and Reaver, “Us three Senators have…”

“…decided that you need to be replaced, immediately.” Psio finished Eaichu’s statement.

Rock raised an eyebrow, “You can’t be serious.”

“The three of us have voted for it. Rock, you’re just like Jaffar. You’re not powerful enough to ensure the safety and welfare of Fef.” Eaichu explained, “I don’t enjoy this part of the job, but it must be done. Colonel Reaver will be replacing you.”

“I don’t believe this!” Rock stood up, slamming both his hands on the table, “Jedi, you can’t be serious!”

Jedi simply stared at Rock with a pitied look. A pitied look, a worried look. His blonde hair seemed darker tonight, along with his attitude, “…I’m sorry.”

“This doesn’t make any sense!” Rock roared, “You say for me not to criticize Reaver so harsh for he is new to being in a position that commands so many men! And now you promote him to the rank that commands all military units in our country!? LUDICROUS!”

“Rock, you shall be remembered as a brave General in the history of Fef who followed the footsteps of the legendary General Rusticious well. But your retirement seems to be coming in a bit earlier than you expected.” Eaichu said, “This meeting is adjourned. You can get your things at the base by tonight and tomorrow—“

“I won’t have this!” Rock yelled, smashing a fist on the table, “Something fishy is going on, here! I’m not as stupid as I may seem!”

“Rock, calm down. We do not need to escalate this matter any further.” Said Psio, standing up, calmly.

“And you! You’ve been acting funny ever since that incident at the Great Library!” Rock accused the Senator, “When we were children I remember punching you in the face, breaking your nose! It didn’t heal for weeks, and I wasn’t that strong! Your recovery time isn’t that strong!”

“You seem to be suspicious of something?” Psio asked, raising a brow while maintaining a cool look.

“Who are you and what have you done with Psio Envrat?” Rock asked, suddenly. It wasn’t a joke, Rock was very serious and stern in his voice. Psio replied it with a smile, “You’re right. You’re not as stupid as you act. We didn’t want it to come to this…but, ah…Very well…curiosity did kill the cat…” He scratched his head, then turned around and grabbed his revolver out of his sleeve. He fired it, using his fire psynergy and shooting a fireball towards the shadows.

It exploded, briefly nullifying the darkness. It had the same effect as it did in the Great Library, but instead of a Turban Man being damaged, it was four young men and a young girl in his place. Neo coughed, he hadn’t taken as much damage as he had expected. But he was still full of black and bruises from the blast. He looked around – none of his allies had lost any limbs or anything serious like that. By the looks of it they were all awake. Even Leon, who was half-awake when he teleported them all there silently.

Jaffar stood up and looked over at the round table, then the shadows went out again. Psio kept the revolver pointed in the direction, while Rock took a couple steps back, cautiously. The other senators and Reaver stood up as well, Eaichu glancing at Jedi. “I need to take Jedi out of here – it isn’t safe for him. Psio, you must leave as well…Reaver, can you handle this yourself?”

“Of course.” Reaver answered, “Sir.”

“I’ll take care of this cat, though,” Psio said, turning around and pointing the revolver at Rock. He was about to pull the trigger, but a bullet from the shadows smashed into the revolver, damaging it and sending it out of Psio’s hand. It went over the table, and Eaichu caught it with one hand, “We’re leaving.”

Eaichu grabbed Jedi’s arm, and the two teleported away with a blue light. Psio stared at Rock, giving him a cocky smile, “I’ll come back for you later, friend.”

“You will die, whatever you are.” Rock replied. Psio smiled wider, then teleported away in identical fashion as Eaichu did. Reaver stood his ground, staring off in the darkness, “Mr. Jaffar! Quite the pleasure, I wasn’t sure if I should have expected you to come to me or me to come to you…”

“Forgetting about someone?” Rock asked, teleporting a golden battle axe in one hand. He also wore a large black cape, glaring at Reaver, “If you’re going to take my position in such a corrupt manner, I’m not going down without a fight.”

“Oh, of course I didn’t, General. I’m not so rude as to forget my favorite someone!” Reaver snapped his fingers, and four men dressed up in military private uniforms stood surrounding the General. Rock was surprised, he never noticed them being there before. But something seemed different, he didn’t recognize them… “I…I won’t fight against my own men!”

“Rock, you stupid geezer! Those are boons!” Zephyr’s voice called out from the shadows. Rock looked over at the shadows, confused, “Boons? You can’t possibly mean—”

One of the soldiers drew a katana, as did its other three comrades. Rock growled, stomping one of his feet down on the ground hard, and a fire cylinder surrounded him. The surrounding soldiers backed off, but drew their katanas. They looked over at Reaver for orders, who was busy glaring at the darkness. He clapped his hands, and the lights in the entire room turned on.

The Colonel took a small surprise, Jaffar was now in his face slashing his katana at him. Reaver quickly drew his own and parried it, gritting his teeth with his own katana gritting against Jaffar’s. It was a strong and sudden impact, pushing Reaver back a bit.

Pendant was behind Jaffar, charging her psynergy, then releasing it, “Angel Spear!!

A purple aura surrounded Jaffar, strengthening his attack power. Just like Garet in Pendant’s nightmare. Jaffar acted as if he didn’t even have the boost, and quickly took Reaver out. He held one hand on the grinding katana, and grabbed Reaver’s face with his free hand. He slammed the military leader at the ground, as if he was spiking a football in the end zone, scoring a touchdown.

Reaver grunted, then slapped his hands against the sword that Jaffar had just lunged on him, aiming between his eyes. It looked like Reaver was praying, but was getting slightly cut from the katana, some blood dripping on his nose. Jaffar was surprised that Reaver could hold his sword, while he had the attack boost from Pendant’s psynergy.

Then, he noticed – his aura was disappearing. He saw Reaver smiling, and his hands glowing an odd green. Jaffar narrowed his eyes, “Hmph, so this is your ability?”

“Meh… so you know. But I’m not weak – I got more tricks up my sleeve, Mr. Jaffar.”

“Stop calling me formally, it’s creepy.”

“Jaffar-Chan.”

“Oh God. And I thought Marcus was bad.”

Rock was hesitating on damaging the men surrounding him, even if they were boons. He didn’t enjoy the picture he was being drawn in. It was quickly taken care of though, even after Reaver had shut down all the psynergy in the room. Zephyr came in, slashing down two of the boons in the stomach with ease, then stabbed the other one in the heart with a dagger he had kept under his sleeve.

Neo shot the other in the face with the shotgun.

Rock watched the carnage calmly with axe in hand, then made eye-contact with Zephyr, “Am I supposed to thank you?”

“You can blow me for all I care.” Said Zephyr, bluntly.
