Agreed. This recent stuff has been par excellence, but where is Anti-Boon? I'm sure Marcus would like to defend his former superior officer... |

Chapter 31 Rock glared at the cheeky Zephyr with disgust, “Why are you…helping me? All of you?” Neo walked up to the General with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, “Because it’s morally right?” “No it isn’t. I had to put up bounties on all of you.” “Had to. Now quit complaining on us saving your old ass and lend a hand.” Neo then hacked when he remembered who he was talking to, “Um, sir.” “You’re just lucky that you’re under Jaffar’s command as of now, Neo.” Rock gave a hidden threat. Neo took it and looked over at Jaffar and Reaver brawling, while everyone else was problem-free. Neo pumped his shotgun and walked towards the two, who were back on their feet smashing swords. “Maybe it’s a good thing that you discharged me.” Neo quickened his pace to get only a few feet away from Reaver and Jaffar in a less than half a minute. Yes, the room is that large. Neo aimed the shotgun at Reaver’s head the best he could, as the Boon leader jumped all over the place, exchanging blows with Jaffar. Leon was already there though, pointing one pistol at Reaver, but was unable to get a clear shot. Reaver continued to move quickly and get Jaffar in the way of Neo and Leon’s crosshairs. Leon had enough after a minute of this show, and complained, “Reaver, I don’t know what the Senators were thinking, leaving you here alone against all of us…maybe they don’t like you. Just surrender. You’re not going to be able to get out of here alive if you really want to fight all of us by yourself.” Reaver then, as if inspired by Leon’s words, gave a ferocious slash, which created a very loud clang when it smacked Jaffar’s katana. Jaffar felt a bit of the recoil, flinching a bit. Reaver did a couple back-flips, then landed and crossed his arms over. Leon and Neo both fired their guns rapidly until their cases were empty, but Reaver used his earth psynergy to grasp the bullets in the air, and let them fall to the ground. Neo’s own special technique. The bullets jingled like bells when they all hit the ground. Leon stared at his pistol is dismay, with his mouth hanging open, “G-Guh? But my bullets have no earthly metals in them…Neo, you told me that you cleaned these things solid!” “Same here.” Neo said, in the same emotion Leon was in. “He must’ve just used non-elemental psynergy to stop the bullets, like Move or Catch. It’s possible, but…to stop a bullet using that kind of psynergy requires great skill.” “I’m just that awesome.” Reaver laughed, marveling at his power. “Reaver, you’ve set up just about everyone in this room.” Jaffar spoke, clutching his sword tight, “Great Library. You and I both know that I and my men had no part in Psio’s attempted assassination. I can however, see you wanting to set up the General…for yourself to gain power as the Commander of the entire Fef Army. …But why? What are you planning, boon?” “I have no reason to explain myself to you.” He then knelt down to his knees, and put both of his hands on the ground before him. Jaffar held his sword tighter, ready to strike Reaver, “Surrendering?” “Nope. Just showing you why the Senators put their trust in me to finish you all.” Reaver smiled, with an evil feel to it. A flash came across the room, and Jaffar could feel Reaver using something similar to psynergy, but more powerful. He grit his teeth and leapt at him, katana held high. Reaver grabbed Jaffar’s sword while he was still charging the uber psynergy, then hurled Jaffar past Neo and Leon, who at the meantime were re-loading their fire-arms. Pendant ran past the dragging Jaffar to attack Reaver with some hand-to-hand electric psynergy, but quickly halted her advance. She was too late, Reaver had already finished what he started. The boon commander stood back on his two feet, with about a half-hundred direct clones of him doing the same from behind. Zephyr and Rock ran up to the heroes, Zephyr gagging from the sight, “Oh my. One ego-bursting boon was enough.” Jaffar shifted his eyes around the room, they were all surrounded by Reavers, who now were slowly drawing their katanas out of their braggarts in a cocky way, with of course, a vile smile. Jaffar felt defeated as he heard their laughter fill the room, sounding like an echo. However, the feeling faded away when he felt light in weight, and a blue flash come before his eyes. Before he knew it, he was back in Marcus’s apartment room, in the living room part of it. Jaffar turned his head around to see Leon behind him, collapsed on the couch in front of the TV. He then realized that it was Leon’s teleport psynergy that got him back here, safe from harm. But…that doesn’t make any sense. He looked around the room to see everyone else from the City Hall in one piece and fine, but practically as confused as Jaffar, until they saw Leon sleeping, to recover from the large amount of psynergy he had used for the day. “Lucky break.” Neo said, putting down his shotgun. “Depends on how you look at it.” Jaffar grabbed the remote control off the coffee table and turned the TV on, and switched it to the news. Pendant raised an eyebrow, “Hm? What do you want to—“ “We have breaking news here. We got a helicopter flying above City Hall, which is surrounded by a large number of military officers, all armed.” Dragon Sniper announced on the TV. “We don’t know what the case is, but one can guess that—“ “Wow.” Rock said in awe, not sure what to do with the battle axe he held. He was about to ask about the room, but decided that he could save the questions for later. “We would’ve been finished.” “Not really. Zephyr would’ve been capable of creating an escape path for us there with earth psynergy, blowing up a few cars and destroying a few neighboring buildings while he was at it.” Jaffar said. Zephyr nodded with a beaming smile on, “Would’ve left it to me.” “Reaver was toying with us. He’s not an idiot – he knew how we entered City Hall, and who used the psynergy. He could’ve easily and quickly sealed Leon’s psynergy up, but he didn’t.” Jaffar looked at Rock, who was staring at the TV still, “He wanted us to escape.” “But why? Why not just kill us?” Rock asked, “It would’ve solved a lot of his problems. A lot less people he has to worry about knowing that he’s a boon.” “Don’t ask me what a boon is thinking. Ask Bob.” Jaffar pointed at the bedroom doorway, where the professor stood, staring at the tired group. Bob scratched his head, “You know Mister Jaffar, you could’ve told me you were leaving for a—whoa!” Bob took a step back in shock, “Is-Isn’t that, the General of the Fef Army!? The Commander Rock?” “Was.” Rock said, “Been having some politic troubles.” “Politic troubles? Like what?” “Like the ones that involve me getting assassinated.” “Oh. Sounds like dirty business.” “Bob, we need to get out of here, and fast.” Jaffar said, stepping forward. Bob looked confused, looking around the room for help on the situation, but didn’t get any, “Er, move? But why?” “We can’t move. We need to attack their HQ, and we need to do it now.” “Their HQ? But…we have no idea where that is!” Bob exclaimed. Marcus stepped up from behind him, looking tired, “What is it that Jaffar is yapping about that is so important that it woke me up from my cat nap?” “We apparently need to get out of here.” Bob explained his knowledge of the situation to Marcus. The Anti-Boon leader yawned, “Whaaat? Jaffar, what are you rambling about?” “Reaver knows where we are by us teleporting here.” “Pffft. Where did that come from?” “He’s a boon with many abilities. I in fact remember that being an ability a few boons had, and I don’t want to risk the chance that Reaver isn’t one of the few, he probably is.” Jaffar explained, “The ability to trace the whereabouts where certain psynergy is used. Boon scouts could do it, and I’m sure that Reaver may know it as well…even if he is more than a scout.” “Or is he? DUN DUN DUUUUUN.” Marcus was clearly not taking this situation seriously. “Well, now Reaver has all of the Senators on his side, somehow. With that he himself is now one, giving General Rock the boot.” Pendant said, “He’s planning something, and it involves him using the entire army. I agree with Jaffar – we need to strike their home base now. We don’t have any time for reinforcements or anything…we don’t have any, anyway. All of our reinforcements are in the army.” “Whoa, Rocky!? No wai!” Marcus gasped, now noticing the grand man standing in the room, “It’s the old geezer!” “Nice to see you as well, Marcus.” Rock rolled his eyes. “At least we meet today as allies, not enemies.” “JUST LIKE OLD TIMES!” Marcus cried, “Oh, I need a tissue…” “Marcus, stop acting like an emotional, brainless, flamboyant monkey with down syndrome!” Jaffar scolded harshly, his voice raising, “We need to get out, and we need to get out now! Where the hell is Bosco, Mind Bomber, and Garet!?” “Whoa whoa, calm down, buddy.” Marcus smiled, “They’re just out in the lobby hanging out. Give us a couple minutes and we may be able to find the home base of the boons…we’ve been trying to for quite a while now.” “No, not enough time!” Jaffar pointed at the TV screen, which showed City Hall live. “Look at that!” The military cars and trucks were packing up, and were driving off. Not back to base, but they were driving with sirens blaring and lights flashing. They were on the run. Marcus shrugged, “Maybe they’re serving free donuts at Greth’s?…” “We’re narrowing down the areas where boons are hiding, now! Not the military base, both the Commander and I know the entire layout of the building.” Jaffar said, in a rush. “Not the Casino.” Zephyr said, pouring a cup of scotch from the mini-bar the hotel provided them with. “Not Greth’s bar.” Said Neo. “This is going to take ages.” Pendant gnarled, “Think logically. If I were a boon, where would I hide?” “What kind of a stupid question is that?” Zephyr asked, driving the scotch down. “If I were a clone-killing-army-humanoid and I wanted to build a base, I’d probably do it like in all those movies and do it back where they created me.” Neo gave his analysis on the sc-fi movies that he always watched. “Oh, that’s it! We haven’t scanned the Desert Base for any boon detection!” Bob smacked his palm with his knuckle, surprised, “Why didn’t I think of that before!?” He ran into the bedroom for the technology in the closet. “Desert Base? That’s where the project was built at?” Pendant asked. “Yes, but it was evacuated and quarantined…” Rock said, “At least, that’s what the reports say.” “Hey, guys!” Garet opened the hotel door, sweating bullets. Bosco and Mind Bomber were behind him, panting heavily. “Why are you guys looking so tired?” Neo asked, putting out a cigarette. “We ran all the way up here…there…th…” Bosco panted more, but couldn’t get the words out. Mind Bomber finished for him, “Why!? There ar’ cops buzzin’ around outside like buzzards above a rottin’ buffalo carcass!” “What?” “There are cops outside.” Garet translated. “And they’re about to bust in the hotel.” “Oh.” Neo nodded calmly, staring to light another cigarette, then burned himself from the shock, “WHAT!?” |

Chapter 32 Kamaitachi, a private in the military jumped out of one of the military buses that carried dozens of armed officers. He and many others had the standard military katana drawn instead of sitting in its braggart. He landed on the cement parking lot, then ran around the bus to meet his Major, Sentenal. The Major was somewhat glad he was doing something other than deskwork, being in the field was dangerous, but it certainly wasn’t boring, especially now. “Private Kamaitachi! You and Kirara250 go around the back to the alleyway and handle the back-door. Immediately fire a psynergic flare if you even spot those discharged officers! I won’t allow them to go about, killing Lieutenant Hystrix!” “Yes, sir! For the Lieutenant!” Kamaitachi saluted, along with Kirara250. The two followed their order, going around the parking lot, which was currently filled with many armed military buses and other vehicles. Even when they ran behind the building, the sirens were still fairly loud. The back of the building was like Sentenal said, just an ordinary tight alleyway, with the neighboring building being another cheap hotel. The two privates stepped in a lot of dirty trash and gum, which was quite unavoidable, the alleyway was so dirty. They reached the ordinary-looking door, which was the only exit on that side. Kamaitachi leapt on one side of the door, putting his back up against it, and Kirara250 did the same on the other side of the door. They both already had their katanas drawn, ready to strike whoever came out that door. Kirara250 looked over at Kamaitachi with confidence brimming on his face, “Wow, with so many high-ranked officers here, there’s no way that we’ll let these guys escape! Even the Colonel and Lieutenant Colonel are here!” “True. But I wouldn’t be so confident, you never met Jaffar, have you?” “I only joined a couple weeks ago, this is my first field mission…so no.” “Just…be prepared for whatever—what?” Kamaitachi looked down at his feet, the ground was shaking. Kirara250 did likewise, looking worried “Wha, what’s going on!?” “Earthquake! Some—Some kind of earth psynergy!” The cement beneath their feet cracked, and shook with more intensity. Kamaitachi clasped his hands together and lifted them above his head, beginning his technique to use a psynergic flare, “Get out of here! Get the Co—” The earth split, and Zephyr leapt out of it, wearing a large smile. The only weapon he had in his hands were his rock-earth gauntlets, which were enough, and he knew it. “Sayonara.” “Oof!” Kamaitachi suffered a rapid and lengthy amount of swift punches to the torso area, then Zephyr finished him with an uppercut, knocking him out very quickly. Kirara250 was speechless and immobilized in sheer fear, he had never seen psynergy used like that, or a fellow military member defeated so quickly! Zephyr turned around. He crunched his knuckles, “Ah, well, that’s one down…” “A-AH!” The private yelped, and ran for the exit of the alleyway, but tripped and fell down. He looked down his leg to see his foot grabbed by…sand? Sand in the alleyway? Grabbing his foot in a hand-shaped figure? No. It was more than just that. The pile of what he had figured was simple sand lifted and grew to the figure of a man, then solidified into a human body. The private recognized him as the one on many of the wanted posters in the Military lobby, Neo. The private started to yelp again, but Neo put a finger to his mouth, “Ssh.” The private was out. Zephyr was already at him and gave him a swift punch to knock him out. Neo groaned, then used his psynergy again to heal the broken jaw that Zephyr had just delivered to Kirara250. Zephyr giggled his maniacal laugh, grabbing both of the two privates by the feet, and proceeded to dump them in the trashcans that stood a few feet beside the back exit of the hotel. Neo stood up, and stepped up to the hole that Zephyr had just broken through. He turned his head to see Zephyr slam the lid on top of Kamaitachi’s head, who was in a barrel, next to his partner. They both jumped down into the hole, and Bosco re-sealed the cement that Zephyr broke, down below in the sewer, standing on a fairly dry sidewalk. The whole gang was there, and Pendant had to point out what could have been an easier procedure to Zephyr’s attack, “You do know…that there was a manhole there that you could’ve just gone through, instead of going through the trouble of…” “That takes all the fun out of it though. Marks down my awesome entrance.” Zephyr interrupted her, “Anyway, I believe you all wish a ride to the northernmost part of Fef, with the lovely ride of the hobo-boat?” “Hobo-boat?” Marcus laughed, “What’s this new psynergic creation you’ve made now in your spare time?” “Quite possibly the best thing in the world.” Zephyr pressed his hand against the wall, and clenched his muscles tight, using a mass amount of psynergy. The sand and earth in the entire sewer beside the walls and the sidewalk they were standing on were being used, being centered above the water in front of them. After about half a minute, Zephyr’s creation was complete. He knelt down on his knees to take a breather, his creation required the use of a lot of psynergy. Jaffar glared at him from behind. “You didn’t have to use almost all of your psynergy just to create that.” “Ah, well. It’s too late now…and it’ll get us out of the city the fastest.” Zephyr shrugged, getting back on his two feet. “All aboard!” The Hobo-Boat looked like its name, a boat a hobo would be caught riding. It was pure brown, with God knows what dripping down the sides in the sewer water. It was really just a large canoe made out of the earth. Enough room for all eleven of them. “I went from General to man riding hobo-boat. What a cruel career drop.” Rock complained, climbing in the boat. The others went in with few words. Garet was carrying the sleeping Leon on his back, exhausted from the amount of psynergy he had used for the day, exceeding even Zephyr. Marcus stood at the end of the boat, and waved his hand, “Set sails! For The Boon Base!” “Boon base, that’s pretty catchy.” Zephyr said, as Marcus used his water psynergy to get the boat moving faster downstream. “Oh-oh, or maybe…Base, Boon!” “How did the name Boon come up to be the name of these things, anyway?” Garet asked BobTheTomato, who merely shrugged as the boat made its way down the sewage river, to the outside city. “Sounded cool at the time.” While the boat drove off into the depths, the light peered down from the open manhole above. Apocalypse stood back up from kneeling down, then slowly put the manhole back in place with his foot. ---/ Blip, Blip. Beep. Omni looked up at the large computer screen set above the large keyboard that he was sitting at. The monitor was large, with many windows open with some unreadable characters over and over. Omni however, seemed to be able to understand it. He opened up a minimized window, which was full of those unreadable characters, filling down and down. Omni scrolled down, with his eyes scanning the words. “Hm?” He shifted his head, then turned it back to the monitor, “Back so soon?” “The search should go fine without me. If there are problems, then the Commander can teleport me back.” “…You should read this.” Gojira stepped up behind him, standing behind Omni’s comfortable computer chair. It however, looked somewhat out of place with the room. It looked like a lab, with no carpet or much attractive things to look at much. Just the standard metal walls with a tint of green, to go along with the plain, hard floor. Tubes were set up all over the walls in the ordinary-sized room, with liquid and human bodies inside, unawake. “A breech? Interesting.” Gojira put a finger to his lower lip, intrigued, “How…what kind of transportation did they use to come all the way out here? I would assume that their white-haired boy is not only too drained to use psynergy for a while, but he doesn’t even know the coordinates himself…that would be dangerous. And Jaffar…cannot teleport such a large number of people.” “I am not sure.” Omni said, not looking back. He hovered his hand above the alarm button. “Shall I…” “Silent alarm.” Gojira said, smiling, “I don’t want to scare off our guests.” “What of the Commander?” Omni asked. “Bah, how many of them are there? Eleven? Our regular army should be able to take care of them.” “This sounds an awful lot like this one video-game that I’ve been playing…” Omni muttered to himself. “What was that?” “Nothing. Alarm activated.” ---/ The plain desert. Fef City was nowhere in sight. The flat, dry land was practically a plateau, but came to an end when Zephyr’s earth hobo-boat came up to a brief and small mountain range. Between two of the mountains was a large man-made building, having the same color as the golden mountains and gold sand, making it hard to pick out. When Zephyr stopped the boat to in front of the building, they could see their trail behind them with sewer water, left over from when they exited the sewers hours ago. The building was set up mostly inside the mountain, the entrance consisted of a large, electronically-opened door that was the size of a garage door for a Fire Department. Everyone got out of the smelly vehicle and walked up towards the entrance. Leon blinked and rubbed his sleepy eyes, he had recently awoken with some psynergy recovered from the nap, “How’re we supposed to open that?” “How else?” Jaffar asked, walking up to the wall, and putting his hand against it. He used his psynergy, and electricity sputtered out from his palm and into the building. The electronic door opened smoothly and easily. Bob went to step inside, “That’s one way you can tell this sure wasn’t abandoned or destroyed inside…the door opens way too easily.” His theory proved right. A dozen men dressed up in military uniforms jumped down from the inside ceiling with katanas in hand. They didn’t look friendly. Rock teleported his large battle axe back into his hand, where it belonged, “Or…that’s another way you can tell, Bob.” |
