Chapter 33 “They’ve passed through sector nine.” Omni reported to Gojira, still in the room with the large computer screen, and a large curving keyboard surrounding the pair. While Omni typed in actions for the fortress to perform specific things to exterminate the ex-military group infiltrating it, Gojira was staring at the screen as if it were his worst enemy. Some parts of the screen were flashing red, and alarms going off inside the building. On screen was the layout of the floor, divided into sectors. The parts that were flashing red had already been infiltrated by Jaffar and others. The map was mostly red, and it wasn’t going to stop spreading. “They passed through sector ten, all the boons there are reported dysfunctional.” “Stop them! Do something to stop them, dammit!” Gojira yelled, “How can they come and break right through!?” “We’re not dealing with any amateurs in fighting, sir.” “And we are? We were created for this sort of thing, what’s going wrong!?” “The ones that your leader assigned to you are the weakest of the weak. Earliest models, trainees in the military can run circles around them.” A glint appeared in Gojira’s eye. He spun around and swung his right arm with him, a dagger flew out from his sleeves and went right at a man’s forehead behind him. The man caught it with a single bear hand, almost with no effort at all. Gojira pointed a single finger at the mysterious man, “Who the hell are you!? How’d you get in here undetected!?” Gojira quickly recognized the intruder, narrowing his eyes. Jaffar tossed the dagger back at Gojira in a taunting way, pointing the handle towards the boon officer. Gojira caught it, listening to Jaffar’s words in a fresh tone, “Come on. With that poor excuse for a counter-attack I could have mistakened you for those grunts in the hallways.” “Ho-How’d you—!?” “How’d I get in here undetected?” Jaffar helped Gojira finish his question without a fraction of a smile on his face, even though it was clear he was smiling on the inside, “Who cares? What matters now is that I’m going to end your short artificial life. Your leader doesn’t seem to care with the lack of security here, so I’m sure there will be no problems from the big boss.” “You, you damn ignorant shithead of a Colonel! How can you be so damn cocky!?” Gojira roared and a spear appeared in his right hand, with a digital entrance. It had a strong black shaft, with a bush of red fur at the end, and the sharp blade sticking out at the end. Sounds like I’m describing something else, I know. Giggle Giggle. Gojira leapt at the confident ex-colonel, and slashed vertically from the head down. Jaffar’s figure was ripped through like silk, but disappeared entirely, leaving Gojira on one knee and still holding his spear, upset at Jaffar’s taunt. He quickly rose back to his feet, “So he used a wind psynergic illusion? Omni! I want Reaver on the line yesterday!” “I’m on it, sir! But the intruders are…!” Omni stopped talking and reached down at the lower side of his chair, picking up a loaded and cocked pistol. He aimed it at the automatic steel door, which was locked tightly. The door was blown to bits from an explosion. Smoke started to fill the room, which Omni fired blind shots at. After a couple shots, the smoke cleared the room with a strong gust of wind, but to Omni it felt more than just that. He felt something sharp go right past his ear, but he didn’t see anything. He held the ear, and found blood on his hand. Before he could bring the next thought to his head, another sharp feeling went towards Omni, right between the eyes. The flesh was cut, and went inches within the skull. Omni fell down to the floor, dysfunctional and destroyed. Gojira stood unshaken, although disappointed that his fellow comrade had just been killed, leaving him even more outnumbered. The actual Jaffar stepped out from the clearing smoke, staring his one exposed eye coldly at Gojira. “It may not be in your system, but I suggest that you surrender. No one person, human or boon, can defeat five equally skilled opponents.” “Of course I will not surrender, Jaffar! Not to someone like you!” Gojira pointed his spear at his cocky enemy, “Jaffar, I challenge you to a duel!” “…if that’s what you really want, then fine.” Jaffar said, stepping forward, “A boon’s final wish.” “Hey, wait!” Pendant walked out from the smoke, which was now just cleared by Leon’s wind psynergy, revealing Garet and Neo charging up their psynergy to strike Gojira. Jaffar raised his hand, making Neo and Garet lower their own. Pendant walked up behind Jaffar, “Why are you going to risk this? We can just take him out right now!” Jaffar didn’t look back, but instead continued walking, “I’m feeling lucky.” “But it doesn’t make any sense.” “Has Jaffar ever made any decisions that made sense?” Neo gave the rhetorical question, which Pendant gave a thought to. She was still in the middle of thinking through Neo’s question when Jaffar drew his blade and dashed in. Gojira slapped the blade away from him with the shaft of his spear, but it quickly returned after the slap. After a few more bouts, Gojira lifted the spear horizontally and pushed it against Jaffar’s katana, using a great amount of strength to push him all the way against a wall. Gojira didn’t stop, he lifted the spear up to Jaffar’s neck and pushed more, chocking him. Gojira smiled, “C’mon, if you’re going to brag so much, you should have the strength to back them, Colonel!” Jaffar groaned, giving off the symptom noises of chocking. Neo raised his shotgun towards the back of Gojira, pumping it. Jaffar glared at Neo, and somehow Neo could feel the threats Jaffar was giving him if he pulled the trigger. He lowered the firearm. Jaffar closed his eye, and took in a deep breath. Gojira kept smiling while raising an eyebrow, still pushing the pole against Jaffar’s windpipe. This guy has got something up his sleeve. Even while losing his own air supply. But I’ll kill him before he… “Guh!” Gojira released his deadly grasp on Jaffar, jumping back frightened. He fell down to one knee, grasping his own throat. His chest rose and lowered quickly and faster than normal, his expression on his face panicked. Jaffar rubbed his own throat, coughing from Gojira’s deadly attack. He slowly rose, then approached the boon officer, who was now wheezing. Gojira looked up at Jaffar, who pointed the point of the blade at the top of Gojira’s head, and his free hand rippling with psynergy waves. Gojira winced, “What are you…what…I I…can’t breathe…” “I thought you said we were going to duel, Gojira. Chocking someone isn’t quite sportsmanlike.” “Air…gone…huuuugh…” “Oh, yes. Wind adept. I’m able to control wind and air flow, I’m sure you know this already?” Jaffar stretched his fingers on his free hand, psynergy still flowing freely, and Gojira still struggling to breathe, “Guess what happens when I change the air pressure in your insides?” “G-Gurgh!” Gojira coughed more, this time blood spat out of his mouth. He bent over, holding himself up with both hands. “You play dirty, Gojira. I didn’t like that about you.” Jaffar shook his head, “Farewell.” Blip Blip Blip “What’s that?” Garet walked over towards the large computer, which was giving off the blipping sound. Pendant followed, but before she reached it a new window popped up, revealing Reaver’s mug. He was at Fusion city, on the top of a building. Jedi’s empire estate building. “Gojira, come in.” “R…ver…” Gojira coughed, turning towards the screen. Reaver didn’t look entirely concerned about the condition his comrade was in. He shifted his attention towards Jaffar, “Hello, Colonel. Long time no see.” “Not long enough.” Jaffar leered at the screen. “I’d love to talk about why you just had to run away at City Hall, but we got bigger matters at hand.” Reaver smiled, “Gojira, let him go. Now.” “And you are in position to order me around…?” “Why yes, I believe I am.” Reaver’s smile widened. He stepped to the side, revealing two people behind him. One was a woman, the other a young girl. They were both tied up and had duct tape covered over their mouths, and unawake. “What the hell are you doing with Senator Jedi’s daughter and wife!?” Jaffar roared, but Reaver waved his finger on-screen. “No, no, no. No questions. You all drop your weapons and let Gojira go, or not only these two will get hurt…but the entire city.” Reaver cracked a laugh, then gave a whisper, “…Boom.” |

Sorry about the long wait, I was pretty busy this week. Leon: Someone set us up the bomb. Pendant: Main screen turn on. Reaver: How are you gentlemen? Jaffar: It’s you! Reaver: All your base are belong to us. You are on your way to destruction. Jaffar: What you say! Reaver: You have no chance to survive. Make your time…Hahaha. Chapter 34 The computer screen changed from Reaver’s face to a screenshot of the Fef city from a bird’s-eye view. Parts of it were highlighted blue, scattered across the map. There were at least fifty blue dots spread around Fef, all of them evenly spread from each other. They blinked in unison, then Reaver’s voice was heard, “Look familiar? Because this’ll be the last time you all see your little city like this, next it’ll be drawing in tourists for the largest ghost town the world has ever seen.” Reaver brought the camera back to his face atop of Jedi’s building. The maniac colonel chuckled, “And trust me – they’ll be lots of ghosts hanging around here.” “You bastard!” Leon smashed his hands against the keyboard in front of the screen, then retreated behind Garet who was beside him, poking his index fingers against one another with his eyes getting glazed over, “All the cute little girls…in their little mini-skirts…” “Seesh, back in the days of the military you were probably one of the last guys I’d expect to pull off a coward-stunt like this.” Garet rolled his eyes, “Then again I didn’t know you were a boon…” “Who cares. The shithead is obviously bluffing, let’s just get this over with and blow the boon’s head off and give this place the open sesame.” Neo said, huffing another smoke ring, and pointing the shotgun at Gojira’s head, whom was still on all fours gasping for air. “What kind of explosive are you carrying?” Jaffar asked in his drone-like-voice, not putting as much affection into the situation unlike his subordinates. “Noob.” Reaver said, which immediately shut Jaffar down. Jaffar waved his hand, which made Gojira take a large gasp of fresh air. Jaffar moved Neo’s shotgun with his own hand, walking towards the screen. Pendant looked confused from how serious Jaffar was now taking Reaver’s threat, “Noob? But, I’ve never heard of such a chemical…is it some kind of underground homemade-bomb?” “No, it’s the element that is the signature of a boon, each and every one is born with it in their heart.” Jaffar informed her, but giving his eye contact to Reaver on the screen, “It was what made boons the most useful. An explosive. When their stress level reached its maximum, it would explode. Human bombs. I’ve had a couple close calls with them in the past months, killing boons who had bounty. But they were not capable of exploding, most of them did not know of their bloodline. As you may have guessed already, it is possible to use noob by itself to trigger large-scaled explosions. After the noob has been harvested in the boon for a long enough time, that is.” Suddenly, Pendant remembered months ago when she was in the CSI lab with Zidane and FEGirl. It was Santi, when they were performing an autopsy. FEGirl had extracted Santi’s heart, and it had a green aura. It soon after faded away and looked like a normal heart. Santi was one of Zephyr and Marcus’s victims, but… “So when we were examining the boons that were killed by Marcus and Zephyr, like Santi, that green aura around the heart…” “That was true noob, dear. Too bad it had died out – extracting it would’ve profited.” Reaver sighed, “Good noob gone to waste. Tsk tsk. If only I were able to get my hands on it sooner.” Pendant winced from Reaver’s reply – a light bulb appeared over her head, “W-Wait! Get your hands on it…? Were you just letting Marcus kill all those boons so you could extract the noob when it got to CSI!?” “Well, that is only a small amount that we achieved for this project. We got much more from the lovely labs that you’re standing in right now.” Reaver nodded with a smile, “But yes, I did enter the CSI while it was empty and a new boon body had been discovered. Marcus did the hard work for me.” Gojira stood up slowly, still holding the spear and his throat gently, he inhaled and exhaled slowly to make his breathing steady again. The lack of air had seriously shaken him. He faced away from the screen as Reaver chuckled again, “Your welcome, Gojira.” Gojira coughed as he raised his hand lazily as a thank you to the boon colonel. Reaver raised a hand, revealing a remote with a switch on it. “And thank you, Colonel Jaffar. I have to tell you, staying under your wing for all those years…it sure was tough to do what I did. I’d apologize, but I don’t regret any of it. It was for the good of my kind.” “Stop acting like you have feelings.” “Ooooh. Yeowch.” Reaver swung his hand as if he had just burned himself, and sucked on the wound. “You never acted like you were very forgiving, anyway. Or maybe you did. You’re such an enigma, Jaffar. I liked that about you. Ah! But alas, we were just never meant to be allies. A pity. Now I’m afraid I’m going to have to complete the mission given to me. When you reach the river Styx there may be a bit of traffic – only one ferryman, so many people. Say goodbye to the precious city you all had sworn oaths to protect.” Reaver flipped the switch, triggering both the noob and the anger in the five ex-military officers. Jaffar felt everything go into slow-motion when he saw his comrades shouting at the screen and a couple running at it, as if they could stop what was pretty much inevitable. Neo swung his shotgun around to Gojira, who was about to make a dash for the door, and gave fire. The slow-motion feeling disappeared and Gojira fell flat down fast, killed from a large bullet nailing his face. Reaver was smiling as he had flipped the switch, but he knew something was wrong. He heard no explosions of any sort nearby or far away. Reaver turned away from the camera, and as he did an explosion occurred right before him, but it was not from noob. A large psynergic sword had appeared from the sky and crashed into him, but Reaver had successfully put up a psynergic barrier around him before it could damage him. The camera suffered heavy static, and lost Reaver’s connection. The computer screen now had a “LOST CONNECTION” notice up. Leon had his mouth hung open, dumbfounded, “What the hell just happened?” “I’ll try to get the connection stable again!” Pendant sat down at what was Omni’s seat, punching in keys on the keyboard. Jaffar shook his head, “No. What’s more important is to get Marcus and the others access to the deeper parts of this lab. Get into the system and open all points that have been locked off.” “But sir, the city—!” Garet began, but Jaffar shook his head still, “It’s fine. Let’s just hurry up and do what we came here to do.” ---/ Meanwhile, Bob was down a couple floors, underground. He was in front of a very large computer with a screen that took up the entire wall. The room was dark and fairly empty excluding the TV, the size of a couple basketball courts. The keys on the keyboard were being punched in rapidly, the sound similar to tap-dancing with the loud echo. Bob scratched the back of his head, giving a light laugh, “Wow, these guys sure know how to keep their security under control, least on this computer.” Marcus stepped out from the darkness and entered the light from the computer screen. He stepped behind Bob with a curious look on his face, “What should we do then, Bobby? Wait ‘till Jaffy-boy gets us in?” “The computer they’re going to should be easier to crack than this if they ambush the room while a user is still on it…so yes, I suppose all we can really do is wait.” Bob said, adjusting his scientist-like glasses. “I am afraid that your life is much too short to wait any longer.” Bob spun around a bit spooked, while Marcus continued to stare at the computer screen calmly. Bob shivered, “O-Oh dear. Marcus…I do believe we are in trouble here.” Marcus gave a large yawn and stretched, then finally turned around to meet eyes with the boon enigma, otherwise known as the Turban man. Beside him was Psio with the fire revolver aimed at Marcus’s head. Marcus didn’t seem impressed or frightened at all, in fact, he acted like he was getting a warm welcoming. He smiled, “Aye, hello to you too, Psio!” He looked over at the Turban man, and nodded, “If memory serves right we met before. But why’d you have to run away…? I didn’t even get to say hi.” “Ignorant as ever.” Psio squinted one eye, then fired the revolver. The bullet soared and flew over Marcus’s right shoulder, past the ear. It smashed into the computer screen and make the glass break. The screen was still on with all the lights, just now there was a small hole where the bullet went through. Marcus didn’t flinch, but Bob jumped a bit. Bob looked Psio over, examining him, “So…you said earlier you’re not the Senator. Then that means that you’re boon #005, one of the single numbers.” “Single numbers? What’s that mean, Bobby? Some kinda super-power?” Marcus asked. “Well, they were the most advanced out of them all. They were meant to be the commanders of the boon army, excluding us humans controlling them, least, that was the plan…they have psynergy capabilities, and each one had their own unique superhuman skill.” Bob pushed his glasses up while explaining. “Number five here was endowed with fire psynergy, but more importantly, his skill…is quite unique, indeed. He can change his physical form, and also change his voice to match the one he is impersonating.” “Interesting. So, you’re the one who created us? Professor Bob?” Psio kept the gun aimed at Marcus, while talking to Bob, “I don’t think we’ve met yet. The pleasure is mine. But…” He swung the revolver towards Bob, turning the scientist’s face ghost white, “I’m afraid we are not on good terms. I’ve disposed myself of my number – I am Harem. Remember that when this bullet goes through your skull.” “No so fast!” Psio fired the revolver, but was shoved from someone behind him hiding in the dark, and went off-balance. When he fired the crosshairs were way off from the target, it nailed the upper wall. Marcus jumped in front of Bob and parried the Turban Man’s jewel katana with his own, surprised with how strong the blow was. “Get back, Bob! We’ll handle the fighting long as you provide the info on these boons!” Harem fell to the floor, and rolled out of the way when Rock’s large axe came slamming down into the floor, leaving a crater-like hole in the floor. Rock roared and swung his axe down where Harem was, only for the boon to roll out of the way again, then jump back to his feet and jump back a few steps to get out of Rock’s dangerous way. Harem laughed, “How unusual for me to get caught off-guard. I mean…” He pointed the revolver towards the darkness, and fired. A small fire-orb was released going at the speed of a bullet, and found its way to Zephyr and exploded on contact, making a small mushroom explosion. Zephyr yelled and fell back into the darkness from the fierce explosion. Rock could hear him pant heavily from the encounter. “I clearly could see that coming, but the big brute…ah, world is full of mysteries.” “You don’t even deserve to impersonate a man so great, you bastard!” Rock charged again with his battle axe, but Harem only stood still while the raging beast came at him with a brutal death intended. When Rock swung horizontally, Psio leapt up and landed on the axe, while his body changed, his clothes turned into military with a ninja garb over his mouth, and a katana in its braggart on the back. He was the spitting image of Hystrix, and even sounded just like him. Harem-Hystrix put two fingers to his mouth, as if doing a ninjutsu technique. “Commander-General, sir! Reporting back from the grave!” “BASTARD!” Rock yelled, and was about to put a stop to Harem’s little game, but the impersonator laughed and struck the first blow with his fist to Rock’s face, then performing a small jump and kicking him with both feet in the face as well. When he landed back onto the ground flawlessly, he noticed that the Turban man was being attacked by Marcus and Mind-Bomber, with Bob staying behind them nervously. Harem smiled, the Turban man could take on those two at once," He looked over towards the darkness, crossing his arms over. “Now, where is that boy?…I need to finish him first.” |
