Three-words. Big-Ass-Chapter. Chapter 11 Brayrs shot out in front of Garet and clashed swords with Marcus. He tried pushing him back, but Marcus was too strong, the smile on his face intimidated the Lt. Garet leapt at the paralyzed Marcus, then stabbed his flaming sword into the back chest. Marcus screamed, and fell back with the sword stuck in his back. Apocalypse was surprised, that was faster than he thought. Leon however, had his doubts when he saw the limbering Marcus fall to his knees and smack the cement with one hand, screaming from the pain. Leon pointed one pistol at the skull of Marcus and fired at it. The skull exploded, but not the same color that the others thought they’d see. The blood was blue, the skull blew open more like a grape than a watermelon. No organs or anything, just an… “Imitation?” Pendant gasped, then suddenly turned around, and took a couple steps back from the large amount of Marcuses she saw surrounding the group. They just were spat out from the ground, blue globs at first, but then turned into the spitting image of the Anti-Boon leader. “Boons!” The headless corpse screamed before it exploded water, dousing the MP Officers, and Garet’s katana. Bryars stuck out his tongue in disgust and disappointment, “Ew. I just got Marcus fluids on me.” “Never saw anything like it.” Garet narrowed his eyes as he picked up his weapon, “Doppelgangers with water psynergy? No way can Marcus last long, it must take enormous psynergy to cast these things…” “Garet, you boon. You underestimate the all-mighty Marcus.” One of the Marcuses said, “I’m just that good.” “Let’s see if you are.” Apocalypse casted his earth psynergy, “Time to smash some douche bags!” Earth spires ripped out from the ground and went like a pack of lions at one of the many Marcus imitations, ripping it apart. Another Marcus replaced it, “Douche bags are made out of vinegar and water. This is simply purified water.” It examined its own hand, rotating it every which-way as if it never saw one before, “And you’re all just a sack of flesh and bones. Time to visit the butcher!” --- Bosco tumbled through the hallways, he had lost sight of Rusty. He was spinning down the halls without much balance, it looked like he was walking on a wall rather than the floor. He looked in every which direction his neck would allow him to turn, panic-stricken. This was not comfortable at all, he couldn’t see any ally or foe, “S-Sir?...” He whispered. No one answered. After a long pause, something stirred nearby the youth, “B-Bosco…” Bosco turned towards where his name was called from. There he saw a moving figure on the ground, struggling to get up. It called again, “Bosco…help me…” Bosco gasped, and walked up to it, “M-My earth healing psynergy is kinda on the novice level, but I’m sure I—“ Suddenly, a flash of light shined through Bosco’s eyes. He tuned his head to his left, then his right. There he saw someone with the same hood-dress that Rusty wore, covering all of its face except for the mouth. Bosco saw it moving, but the speech was not loud enough. It only whispered, for some reason, Bosco believed that even if he got close enough it would still be inaudible. The figure pointed one finger towards the fallen person in front of Bosco. Bosco looked over, and now the light shone on the person, the one that he recognized to be Yotsuba. Bosco gasped and took a step back, in fear. He looked back towards the hooded figure, but it had disappeared. The light dampered away, but Yotsuba didn’t seem to notice anything happened, “Bosco…I’m hurt…” Bosco saw that Yotsuba was not bleeding or anything at all a second ago. How dare he, Bosco thought, holding his weapon tight. He could imagine Yotsuba smiling in the dark now, with his own katana behind his back, ready to strike when Bosco got close enough. Bosco let his anger released by screaming, “YOTSUBA! YOU TRAITOROUS AND DIRTY BASTARD!!” Bosco’s katana shined blindly with gold, enough that Bosco could see the face on Yotsuba’s face, who was bewildered at Bosco even sensing him. Bosco screamed, psynergy flowing. Yotsuba’s eyes were full of fear when one psynergic dagger stabbed him through his left elbow, raising it, like tacking it on an invisible wall behind him. The next dagger went through his right elbow, with the same effect. Now Yotsuba knew he himself was finished, but didn’t want to believe it. He tried using psynergy, but it was all too late. Bosco charged, “ODDESSY!!"He screamed, and when he slashed at Yotsuba, the turncoat could feel a massive psynergic sword rip and tear through his body. The last thing he heard was something that sounded like the tearing of bed sheets, which was the organs that Bosco just ripped through. Then, eternal sleep. Bosco kept Yotsuba and himself in that position for a long pause, with his sword through each side of Yotsuba. The hallways were so quiet Bosco could hear Yotsuba’s blood dripping onto the tiled floor. The young recruit realized what he just did and ripped his weapon out of the dead body of the ex-MP officer and scurried backwards far on all fours, keeping his eyes locked onto the carnage he had just done. As if Yotsuba would come back to life and do the same he had just done to him. “I-I…” Bosco held his katana in a defending position, panting heavily with blood spatter on his uniform, “Just……kil…killed a person………” After another long pause, Bosco wiped the tears from his eyes, and tried coughing that frog out of his mouth. It stayed in, leaving Bosco speechless. After much of re-playing what had just happened, he was interrupted by the guiding beam of a flashlight down from another hallway entering his own. He scrambled back and opened up the door of an unoccupied room and went in, slowly closing the door and peered out, so that only one of his eyes viewed what was coming. Amuro Ray, a very reliable Major in the army, was the one holding the flashlight. The light focused at Yotsuba’s body. The Major gasped, “Yotsuba…so they got you too…” Bosco had his inklings on not showing himself to Ray, but he was so nervous that he accidentally slid the door open. Ray shined the flashlight at the frightened Bosco, who flinched like a stray cat in an alley. Ray gasped again at the blood on Bosco, then frowned, “Bosco.” Bosco was relieved, he just found a friend. Now this whole ordeal would be a lot easier. He looked up from the ground, he swore he saw a glimmer of metal at Ray’s hands. “Bosco, why…why would you do this.” The youth couldn’t believe his ears. Then again, he looked at the massacre he just caused, and it all clicked. He must’ve looked incredibly suspicious. Bosco took a step back on his knees, while Ray started walking towards him. This nightmare wasn’t going to end anytime soon, was it? --- Neo smashed the end of his shotgun in the face of Zagar, who fell down to the ground with a bloody forehead, clutching it. Neo had to keep up though and not have his victory party yet, Albel jumped at him with his blade up high, laughing. Neo quickly raised his shotgun above his head, and the sword smashed against the hard metal. Albel snickered, “Come on, worm. Let’s see if you got what it takes to dance with the best!” He jumped back and started to leap again at Neo with a large smile on his face, but Neo had other plans as he aimed the barrel at Albel and pulled the trigger, sending a large rubber bullet at Albel’s chest, who hit the ground fast. Neo pumped his shotgun and fired again at Albel, laying on the ground. The bullet was crammed into his buttocks, then another, and another. Neo was having an easy time with this, as disturbing his technique was. Jaffar however, was not in the same position as Neo, having a much more difficult foe, Zephyr. The cocky Anti-Boon commander was fast on his feet, dodging every powerful blow Jaffar gave him. Jaffar seemed to get irritated, something that was rarely seen. Zephyr laughed, “Ah, I’ve had too much of this. Time to get serious.” He dodged another long katana shot and grabbed the blade with one hand, clutching it so hard Jaffar didn’t know how his hand was not bleeding. He then noticed the psynergy that Zephyr was using, he had earth gauntlets on his hands, the earth so tough not even his high-quality blade could pierce it. Jaffar grunted, “You’re annoying me.” “Oh, that all? Well, I can always just end it for you,” Zephyr smiled, “Which is what I was planning on doing, now!” He lunged his katana at Jaffar’s gut like he was carrying a switchblade to stab him with, the way he held his blade with one hand. Jaffar tried moving, but he couldn’t avoid the blow unless if he let go of his katana, which he wasn’t comfortable with. The blade was stopped by another, and Zephyr was pushed back a bit. The moonlight shone on Reaver’s wide katana, who looked very cool-headed. Zephyr looked back at his allies. Bloodrain had fallen also, Neo was busy shooting rubber shells at the fallen Albel and Zagar. Zephyr took a step backwards, smiling, “Heh…well, looks like you beat me at this game, Colonel! But I’m not gonna go like this!” He back-flipped out the window, smashing a small part of it on his way out. Reaver and Jaffar walked up to the ledge and looked down the long way. It was so far down Reaver felt a bit dizzy from the height, seeing Zephyr pull a Marcus as he slid down the building. Jaffar muttered something that Reaver couldn’t hear. --- Back to ground level, the MP Officers were still fighting off the water-psynergy clones of Marcus, exhausted as they defeated each one. Pendant held her collarbone and panted heavily, “I…can’t take much more of this. They just don’t stop re-spawn.” Leon however, still had much more fighting left in him, using a fire-arm and all, “Stand back, I’ll handle the rest of this.” He held one pistol above Pendant and fired, hitting the head of a Marcus and it exploded like a pumpkin. Another one stood behind it, smirking. Leon growled, “Bullet supply is running low, though…” Leon suddenly fell back a bit, as if he had just been shot from behind. He clutched his forehead with one hand, then his eyes were wide open. He looked above him and drew his katana and leapt up, holding his weapon high as Zephyr came crashing down to the earth. Zephyr laughed and kicked Leon in the face, halting his attack and brought Leon down to the cement. His presence was sudden, so sudden that he was able to strike Apocalypse from behind with his katana. The blade went down his left shoulder. Blood poured out. Apocalypse screamed. Zephyr’s velocity was so incredible that when his two feet landed firmly on the cement, the ground around him split, and the earth shook. The magnitude was a powerful earthquake, bringing all the MP Officers to their knees and rolling away from Zephyr. The Second-Commander howled a laugh, “Boons! All of you boons! Now you’re finished!” The confident man’s speech turned to a scream though, a lightning bolt came crashing from the sky and struck him fiercely. Zephyr felt incredibly damaged, down on his knees without him even remembering himself doing so. Then another sudden bolt smashed him, and another, then another. Zephyr became an endless wail, from a rapid psynergy attack from above. Up on the building, Jaffar was hurling psynergy at the small target in the parking lot, angered. Reaver had his arms crossed over, watching the scene. The Marcus clones had disappeared, and the real Marcus replaced one of them. He stared at the abused Zephyr, still being attacked by enormous and powerful bolts that shook the earth each time it made contact. “Jaffar, stop being such a boon, attacking him from so far!” He yelled. “He says for you to lay down your arms and have us equip psynergy-blocking bracelets on you and Zephyr and he’ll stop.” Leon said, holding his sunglasses as he saw another bolt struck the almost-black-fried Zephyr. “No way! I’ll just stop it with my psynergy, what a boon!” Marcus held out his hand towards Zephyr, but Apocalypse interrupted him, “Think before you act, man. The water will just make the lightning more powerful, and the lightning will pass right through the barrier, whether it be ice or water.” He was clutching his bleeding shoulder, while Bryars walked up to him and tried performing some healing psynergy. “And…” “You’re not in much position to talk, anyway.” Marcus felt the cold metal of a ninja-knife against his throat. He didn’t look too pleased when he knew it was Hystrix behind him, who had appeared out of nowhere. After another bolt striking the almost dead Zephyr, Marcus dropped his katana. The attack stopped, and the bracelet and handcuffs were slammed onto Marcus, then Zephyr, who had passed out by Hystrix’s ninja grunts. Jaffar, Reaver, Neo, and all of the other defeated Anti-Boons from the top floor teleported down to the cement parking lot. Jaffar pointed at the fallen goons, “Arrest them as well. Search the entire building for the rest of them, Hiei and Air Grady are on the Security Room floor, get a medic for them.” Reaver grunted, walking up to Marcus, who was smiling still, as if he had won. Marcus laughed, “Reaver…you’re such a boon. Next time I won’t let you get away. I’ll get your friends, next.” Reaver grabbed Marcus by the collar, “W-Why you! Don’t think you can push me around!” Hystrix grabbed Reaver’s hand and pulled the two away, “Hey, hey, you two. Don’t want any feuds, now…” Jaffar sighed, looking over at Apocalypse. He grunted, then stepped towards an MP Car. When he noticed a driver was inside, he opened the door and went in, sitting at the back seat. When he closed the door he noticed that this was not his car, it was another. Not only from the interior, but from the other passenger next to him. Jaffar saluted, “General Rock.” Rock nodded, and Jaffar put his hand back down. “Driver, please proceed to MP HQ.” “Yes, sir.” The driver started the car, and went off. Rock hit a button that pulled up the dark window between the front and back seats, “Privacy would help in this conversation.” “Sir?” Jaffar asked, unsure what was going on. “Jaffar, do you know what happened tonight?” Rock asked, looking out the tinted window, while also looking at Jaffar in the reflection. “Yes, General. Tonight, me and Lt. Col. Neo infiltrated The Casino, the HQ of Anti-boon. We reported to HQ, then invaded The Casino with disguises. We were able to get in, and to get to the point, we re-captured and arrested every Anti-Boon that we had in custody before, and also got Zephyr and Marcus, the ones behind the serial killings.” The tone in Rock was incredibly low, he had kept it at that exact tone the whole conversation. Jaffar noticed this, it wasn’t really unusual with Rock, who was always very cool-headed about things. Rock spoke with that tone again, “You sure you aren’t leaving anything else out, Colonel?” Jaffar almost looked like he didn’t understand, “…sir? If you want the names of the Anti-Boons, or the information that Reaver had given me, or the disguise I used…” “No, it has nothing to do with The Casino, as much of a victory that was, it was also an incredible loss to the Fef Military.” Rock said. “Sir?” “Our HQ had been attacked. Viciously.” Rock added the adjective when he didn’t see much reaction in Jaffar’s eyes, even though he knew deep inside Jaffar did not know this information and was not calm. “The worst part is, who attacked it.” “It couldn’t have been Anti-Boon…we have ceased all the rebellions that had started…local gangs couldn’t have invaded it…” Jaffar gave out all the possible people, but Rock shook his head, “None of them.” The car stopped. He turned from the window to Jaffar, “Look out that window.” Jaffar hesitated at first, staring at the General, then looked over his shoulder. What he saw made him nearly gasp. The HQ was on fire, the Fire Department was putting out the blaze, containing it to a small part of the two-story building. But the damage itself was immense, Jaffar couldn’t stare at it any longer and looked down at his lap, “What…who caused this?” “Your men, Colonel.” Jaffar looked up at the General. His eyes showed that he thought this was a very cruel joke, “S-Sir, you aren’t serious?...” “Jaffar, do I ever pass jokes about things as serious as this?” Rock asked. Jaffar knew the answer, so he continued, “With you placing most of you most trustworthy and strongest men to The Casino, which might I add, was very foolish at first, infiltrating it with only two men…you’re lucky you escaped alive at all and that Reaver helped you.” “…you placed your HQ at great danger. Turncoats were all over the place, outnumbering the few good soldiers of Fef.” Rock was staring at Jaffar’s eyes for so long they were practically locked, “The number of traitors is astounding. We still don’t know whom they turned to, what force, but it wasn’t Anti-Boon.” After he gave some silence for Jaffar to answer or comment, which Jaffar passed, Rock continued, “Jaffar, as much of a performance you gave at The Casino, this tragedy should have never happened, no matter for what cause. Now the media will grab hold of this,” He held his hands out as if reading a head-line, “I can see it – ‘Fef Military HQ Attacked, Are We Safe?’, ‘Colonel Jaffar sacrifices dozens of his men for the arrest of two serial killers and some others, was it worth it?’, ‘Our Military, is it as Strong as we’re Informed?’…” “Sir, please excuse my rudeness, but what are you getting at?” Jaffar snapped, after taking another headline beating. “Jaffar, what you did was irresponsible. You should have reported back to HQ in person and left a considerable amount of trust-worthy soldiers here, including even a Lt. Col. Hell, if your whole army wasn’t so damn scared or disturbed of your ways and attitude we wouldn’t have had this many turncoats…” After all this, Rock still had the same calm tone. Jaffar kept his lock with Rock’s eyes, “Sir, I apologize for this tragedy, it shouldn’t have happened, but there was no way to prevent such a—“ “Jaffar, I just told you what you could have done to prevent this.” Rock interrupted him, “But instead you rashly went head-on into the fray after Marcus, leaving your in-experienced Lt. Colonels to decide who goes and who leaves with barley anything to go on. I understand your anger after seeing Marcus killing another, but enough excuses. The other Three Leaders are at my throat and yours for this…” “Sir?” “Jaffar, I’ve simply had enough. You’ve failed too many times, and I’ve covered for you each time the other Leaders question your ability to be my Second-Commander. But, Eaichu has given very fine points on what you’re doing wrong, so strong that even I agree with him.” “Well, you are very open-minded, sir.” “Enough, Jaffar. I don’t want to do this, but I’ve been pressured for far too long.” Rock rubbed his forehead, then looked back at Jaffar. “Jaffar, you are fully discharged from Fef’s Military.” |
