Kid, this is a DEBATE forum. That is NOT debating. That is called "making oneself look like an ass." And FYI, kid, I've taken a year of College level Java.
We are. Iraqi troops are being slowly phased in operations in Iraq to get them experiance.
There was this thing called Hurricane Katrina that hit the Gulf Coast, shutting down the costal refinerys there, therefore hurting supply, causing prices to go up. Now, I live just outside of Atlanta. We had the highest prices in the country. There was a rumor that gas stations were going to run out of gas on that fateful day. It was a false rumor, they had enough gas for normal business. But this rumor cause just about EVERYONE who had a car in the entire city of Atlanta to go to the pumps, and fill up. This started sky-rocketing the price, and eventually, gas stations had close because they did run out. A rumor fulfilling itself. |

Hydrogen has always looked economical compared to oil, i dont think that alone would cause it. And, of course, you cant just look in a paper and be sure its price fixing, but it seems to coinicidental to me... @ Sentinal: There were crazy-high gas prices before Katrina, it only rose about 15 cents after the big 'cane, at least where i live... |

I dunno, bro, the kid kinda asked for it... how do you think I would have handled that? The people burning flags... they're not a MAJOR minority, but they are a minority still. It depends on what groups you ask; certain groups hated Saddam, others liked him. It'd be like if someone took out Bush right now; half the country would be firing guns in protest, and the other half would be dancing in the streets with a fresh latte. I will say that now that we're stepped in this bullshit, we HAVE to see it through. If we don't, we're going to have a problem on our hands that makes Afghanistan look like Romper Room. I KNOW I've said that in this thread... I KNOW it. |

The stakes are higher. Vietnam really only wanted to be left alone; we went after them because of nothing but paranoia over Communism. Here, this culture - and these people (not limiting to the Iraqis, because trust me, if we leave now, outside people will get some SERIOUS pull in that country) - have already proven that they will take whatever they think is necessary to take out America and make Allah happy. The sad fact of the matter is that our policies basically made these terrorists. But the even sadder fact is that now that we're there, we have to take everyone out, in order to keep it from biting us in the ass in the future. We caused the mess. Now we have to clean it up. |

On the subject of Vietnam, no this war is not on that scale yet. My father, a Vietnam war vet, can atest to that. However, certain politicans would like this war to be like Vietnam. |

I see your point.
;_; I agree with Superbus; we have to finish this. Not only for the good of Iraq, but for our own good. Besides, it is just, if I may use the term, pussy to start something like this and leave it unfinished. |

Just compare the number of casualities suffered in the Iraq war to what we suffered in Vietnam. I say certain politicans would like this to be like Vietnam for political purposes. That anti-war crowd, basically. If this war started going as badly as Vietnam was allowed to go, they would have alot more ammo to get us to abandon Iraq, pull the troops home, forget Israel, etc etc. |

Think how many countries were involved in the Vietnam War. Now compare how many countries are (currently) involved in the War on Terrorism. =? |

Okay... Combine the casualities suffered in both Afganistan and Iraq, and compare it to Vietnam. |

This is way different than the Vietnam. I'm not sure about the reasons we went into Vietnam, but I'm sure this war right now is the stupidest reason to go to war. Vietnam had more casualties but less countries were involved. The war right now in my thoughts is really stupid because I have no idea why we went in there, I also think that if there is a reason, its a dumb reason. |
