This is way different than the Vietnam. I'm not sure about the reasons we went into Vietnam, but I'm sure this war right now is the stupidest reason to go to war. Vietnam had more casualties but less countries were involved. The war right now in my thoughts is really stupid because I have no idea why we went in there, I also think that if there is a reason, its a dumb reason.

Uh.

We went in there because Saddam Hussein was being a bastard. So we let them start their own government. I hope.

Are you kidding? Vietnam had fucking EVERYONE from the UN involved in it. Now, pretty much everyone has pulled out except the US and some of the British.

Please keep Christian bashing to a minimum. This is mainly the American South (and mainly Evangelical death cults), which is similar to Afghanistan under the Taliban.

Wait... You think this war is stupid. But you don't even know why we are there. And you said that IF you did know, it would probably be stupid. I'm not going to comment on this, other than watch the news, do your research, and don't post things that make you look stupid. If I comment any more, I'd probably be warned for flaming.

And FYI, the reason we went into Vietnam was to prevent something from happening that didn't even happen after we failed! And that was to prevent the entire area from falling into communism (which, as I said, didn't happen).

How do you say that? I can't really see your parallel...

Just compare the number of casualities suffered in the Iraq war to what we suffered in Vietnam.

I say certain politicans would like this to be like Vietnam for political purposes. That anti-war crowd, basically. If this war started going as badly as Vietnam was allowed to go, they would have alot more ammo to get us to abandon Iraq, pull the troops home, forget Israel, etc etc.

Think how many countries were involved in the Vietnam War.

Now compare how many countries are (currently) involved in the War on Terrorism.

=?

Okay... Combine the casualities suffered in both Afganistan and Iraq, and compare it to Vietnam.

Not to mention numerous other problems with the Vietnamese War and how we ran it. Letsee:
-The fact that we totally pwned the Viets in terms of technology and still suffered incredible losses.
-Our flimsy attempts to make the North Viets look bad; pretending they got most of their weapons from commies (there was some report that showed most North Viet weapons were stolen from our armies :) ) and the whole Gulf of Tonkin bullshit.
-Too lazy to list everything.

Not to mention problems with the south-viet government and affluent citizenry that made it as problematic as the north-viet commies.

EDIT-Honestly, I have problems with the War in Iraq. Lots of problems. But it ain't anywhere near as bad as Vietnam. Even if half our reasons were made up, we've still accomplished more in Iraq IMO.
