We've gotten the point across that Saddam was crazy, we went in and took over, yada yada. But exactly how long are we going to remain there to protect the Iraqi?

Till they can do it.

You asked a question, and I answered. We don't have a crystal ball, we can't see the future. When Iraq can stand on its own, and when Iraq can defend itself, troops come home.

But it seems to me like defending the Iraqis is taking a step closer to them being dependant on us, not being stable themselves.

Yeah, I mean, were not like training them up their own army, and slowly transitioning the workload to them. I mean, who ever heard of the Iraqi Security Forces?

But that is the exact process I am worried about. 2 and a half years is a long time to train an army.

Two and a half years is a lot to rely on a country previously an enemy to ultimately provide protection for you.

Richie, would you prefer the country to implode from civil war? You're not making sense; why wouldn't we provide protection at this point?
Previously an enemy, Richie; not anymore. @_@

Don't make posts like that in here, or any other disussion board for that matter, but espescaily in the Debate area; the Chit Chat is the only place where that is acceptable.

Civil War gave our country a basis of freedom and common grounds of which to improve our government. =.

Yet Iraq already has a constitution that guarantees the rule of law, freedom of assembly, property rights, freedom of speech and the press, freedom of religious belief and practice, women's rights, and the right to vote. Doesn't seem like the need to go through a civil war to gain that.

How about this: as long as the Iraqis want us there, we should stay there. =.

Not until they don't need our protection anymore, but until they don't want us there.

You beat me to it, Sentenal.

Kids these days don't know what a real war is.

A bunch of pussies, IMO.

Wait a minute... you DO know what it's like?

Word! Let's exchange stories sometime! :D

... Oh, what's that? You're a senior in high school? So you don't know what a war is really like?

Then kindly STFU from making generalizations.

You know, i think this entire topic idea whas pretty stupid. Anyone who doesnt want to succeed in Iraq is pretty much a douche, but people differ on why we went to war, and how long we should occupy.
